Launch of Item Efficiency Lite!

Welcome back to the Sunday edition of #VVinning/A DIFFerent View. Before I start, I'd like to thank all of the readers for the successful AMA/giveaway event yesterday. For myself, the team AMA was the second greatest event I've been able to be a part of as part of the ADV team (the greatest being the RoG launch). With over 900 comments and counting in less than 24 hours, we had a great time answering your questions last night and we'll probably continue answering questions today.
Before I go into today's post, I'd like to share a mini-autobiography that I didn't get to share during the AMA. As many of you may or may not know, I started theorycrafting through a whim: I was curious as to how gold efficient items are in League of Legends. This curiousity led me to expand on other early mathcrafters' work through the original incarnation of my item efficiency spreadsheet that was on the reddit /r/leagueoflegends sidebar for almost a year. After all, if you're going to spend 100's of hours playing a game, why not spend a few hours and give back to the community?
As for my A DIFFerent View background, I first met DiffTheEnder in the end of December 2011 when he first started blogging on the old RoG, and I was inspired to help him blog because ironically...Diff was the worst mathcrafter I had ever seen. From what he tells me, he wanted to run a fun-and-games blog, not a theorycrafting blog. His posts were literally so bad that we still have an inside joke that the hexdrinker shield is equal to 12 mr in our chatroom. Since then, we've come a long way, and we'd like to thank you the readers for supporting us in the last 5 months.
On May 6, 2011, I released my first theorycrafting work. Today on May 20, 2012, I want to share a condensed and slightly improved version of the original in the form of Item Efficiency Lite!

ADV's AMA is now Live! - follow through the link in the post to participate!

Hey guys!
I am DiffTheEnder and I run "A DIFFerent View" on Reign of Gaming. As the title says - A DIFFerent View has passed the 100 post mark and is also upon its 5 month anniversary since launch.
To celebrate what I believe to be a huge milestone - me and the others here at ADV have decided to host a giveaway (with a lot of prizes!) and an AMA session to give back to the community that supported me and A DIFFerent View ever since launch. I also want to make an announcement regarding the blog but first...
What can you win?
- One of 7 $10 RP cards.
- One $25 RP card.
- PAX Sivir (will be giving the same code to a person on each server!)
- Possibly more...
How can you win?
All you have to do is participate in this Reddit thread - Ask us a question, or give us an idea for a future post - or just make us laugh! If we enjoyed it - you stand a chance to win :) The more successful the AMA - the more we'll giveaway! (Make sure to indicate which server you are on to be in to win the PAX Sivir skin)
The Announcement
As you may be aware - A DIFFerent View - initially launched, completely run by only me (DiffTheEnder) and with the re-launch of RoG, we had VVinrar and TheBirdofPrey come on board to the team.
Due to real-life circumstances, TheBirdOfPrey is leaving the team here and we will be picking up a new blogger to step into his shoes. So I'd like to welcome Dr. Prant on to the team and I hope you will give him a warm welcome and some ideas for his posts! He will also be participating in the AMA today - so make sure to pester him with a lot of questions.
The AMA
Feel free to ask either the whole team or any one of:
- DiffTheEnder
- Dr Prant
- TheBirdOfPrey
- VVinrar
A specific question. Or just leave us a comment :)
Once again - I'd really like to thank both the Reign of Gaming readers and Reddit community for supporting me and the blog and I hope you'll enjoy what he have to offer in the future!
Visit the above link to participate in the AMA!Unfortunately - some people have had problems visiting the above link - so here is a standard link
Cheers, DiffTheEnder

Hello Summoners,

aAa Loses Yellowstar and nRated - Possibly Disbanding
A team that always seems to be in some sort of upheaval (and somehow still manages to conted) loses its bottom lane to another team. After just replacing MoMa, aAa is now perhaps done completely. According to Linak's facebook, Yellowstar and nRated have accepted an offer from another team, and Linak says he is open to joining another team (preferably with soAZ). aAa was a team that just a few short weeks ago was competing at IPL and MLG while consistently posting strong finishes in European tournaments as well. The news marks a potential major shift in the EU competitve scene leaving room at the top for more up-and-coming teams.

A DIFFerent View AMA!

DiffTheEnder here and in celebration of A DIFFerent View hitting its 100th post - me and the rest of the team here at ADV will be hosting an AMA on Reddit.
What?
AMA = Ask me Anything. Consider it an open interview session where any one of you can pop on to ask a question to either me (DiffTheEnder), VVinrar or TheBirdOfPrey.
Where?
On Reddit - I will be posting the link to the thread on the day of the AMA - so you guys can all participate.
When?
In approximately 48 hours from the time of this post. Around 3.30pm PST/10.30PM GMT on the 19th of May. I will be making a post on RoG linking to the AMA when it is up and running - set your clocks!
What's in it for me? AKA The prizes!
I will be holding the AMA with lots of prizes to be won. There are RP cards as well as a PAX Sivir to be won - there may be some hardware given out as well - depending on how successful it is!
Who is eligible to win the prizes?
Anyone! The only request I make is that you head on over to Reddit and make your account now. Accounts made on the day of the AMA itself will not be eligible to win prizes - although you are more than welcome to ask us questions regardless of when you registered.
Is there anything special happening apart from the prizes?
Yes! I will be making an announcement (maybe two - depending on how things go!) regarding A DIFFerent View.
I look forward to seeing you guys all there and I wish you the very best of luck in winning the prizes you want! I'd also like to thank you guys for supporting me and ADV for the last 5 months - I really appreciate it and I look forward to providing even better content in the future!
Cheers - Diff!

DRM- Forced Online Play

Hey guys, TheBirdOfPrey here, today I'm going to be stepping away from my usual math and theorycrafting and speak my thoughts on a subject that has a lot of controversy on all sides of the issue, DRM.
So what is DRM? It stands for Digital Rights Management, it basically says if you want to play the game, you have to be online with a constant internet connection. This is supposed to allow companies to monitor player activity and prevent hacking cheating and piracy. After all if it's your servers the play has a more limited capability of what they can mess with. That however is where one of the main problems arise. It is their servers.

All About: Movement Speed

DiffTheEnder here bringing you the latest edition of "A DIFFerent View". Today I will be bringing you something slightly new to this blog. A little DIFFerent, perhaps? Barring the terrible puns, today's post will be all about...
Slows and Movement Speed
So what can you know about slows apart from what the fact that it slows you? We'll be looking at the full picture on how slows work and how you can make the most of this knowledge. I'll also be going over a large part of how movement speed works - so this is quite an informative post and I assure you, it is worth your time to read it!
What is Movement Speed?
Movement Speed is a statistic that determines how fast your champion moves across the map. One point of movement speed translates to one point of game distance traveled in one second. As a fair idea - Urgot's attack range is 425. If you have a movement speed of 425, you will move the length of his range in one second. Movement speed can be increased by flat amounts as well as percentage boosts through items, runes, abilities and masteries and likewise, you can be slowed. A slow is a form of Crowd Control (referred to as CC from here on) that helps the enemy gain an advantage over you. It slows your movement speed for a duration of time. To fully have an idea of how slows work. Let's take a look at how movement speed is calculated. -

Chalice Of Harmony Analysis

Hey guys TheBirdOfPrey here to bring you another post from A Different View! Today we will be looking into a commonly underused and misunderstood item Chalice of Harmony.

The Cost of Your Jungler
I had mentioned in the tier list “the cost of a jungler” and brought up a bit of a stir when some people felt the item costs of the junglers I used as examples were very poor. Well this post is to clarify a lot of what was said and what I truly meant from “the cost of a jungler.” Coincidentally this can also be thought of as a tool for non jungler picks.
-
Jungle Tier List - May 14th
NOTE - This tier list differs from the listed "Jungle Tier List". Stonewalls tier list revolves around measurable and replicatable data of junglers and does not reflect who are the most "viable" junglers in the game. The data is gathered through testing, experimentation and observation and is merely a tool of measurement. It attempts to remove all sense of subjectivity and just give out facts about each character and weigh them appropriately.
While THIS tier list will only be about how competitive these junglers can be. I suggest looking at both and getting feedback from both jungle tier lists to decide on who you want to play!
Junglers:
Tier 1: Nocturne, Dr. Mundo, Shyvana, Lee Sin, Alistar, Riven, Maokai, Udyr,
Tier 2: Nautilus, Jarvan IV, Jax, Gangplank, Skarner, Olaf, Amumu,
Tier 3: Rammus, Hecarim, Shen, Malphite, Warwick, Trundle, Fiddlesticks, Nunu,
Tier 4: Tryndamere, Sejuani, Shaco, Pantheon

TCM Shakes up their Lineup
European team TCM announced that they would be parting ways with their old solo lanes Janitin and Inkii for "personal reasons" according to their website. They have already filled the roles though, and are looking to make some noise in an already deeply competitive European scene. Their new lineup will feature Jesper ’Kungen’ Rundberg in the top lane, and taking over mid lane will be Toni ’Uberrior’ Häkli.

What is the optimal early game build on Ryze?

Welcome back to the Sunday edition of #VVinning/A DIFFerent View. Inside this post, I will be analyzing the optimal early game build on Ryze based on the two most popular early game build paths. Since Ryze has many optimal late game builds depending on the situation and the composition of the enemy team, I will instead only be focusing on early game builds and not on endgame.

Dominion Tier List - Varus Era
Note:
This tier list is based off of our (Elalya & Talith PA) experiences in the Dominion competitive scene. It is purely our opinion based on our perception of two factors: the actual strength of a champion, and how valuable of a pick they are.
Remember - a strong team may not consist of purely tier 1 and tier 2 champions: the tier list does not account for individual hero synergy. For example, Nunu is an extremely good pick if he is paired with someone whom he compliments (a Jax or a Kog’Maw come to mind), but not so good if your primary AD damage comes from people like Urgot or Gangplank. Everyone in tier 1 and 2 is a strong pick that will work on most teams--just remember that sometimes, when assembling a team, it is more effective to counter their picks or to compliment yours than to simply bring in another solid, all-around champion.
Note 2:
If you’re wondering about why a champion is placed here, check the first post and there’s a comprehensive (it may become outdated in time, in which case I will rewrite summaries for each champion) listing on each placement.

Tier 1 -- Kassadin, Rammus, Urgot, Yorick, Poppy, Warwick, Wukong, Lulu, Pantheon.
Tier 2 -- Cassiopeia, Riven, Sona, Shen, Jax, Ezreal, Janna, Malphite, Jarvan IV, Kog'Maw, Irelia, Malzahar.

What makes a competitive AP Carry?

Welcome back to the Thursday edition of #VVinning/A DIFFerent View. Today, I'm bringing back the Throwback OG Wrench Thug Heimer banner made by Forneas. For this post, I will be analyzing Elementz's AP Carry Tier List, and what kind of criteria decides what tier champions are placed in from a theorycrafting standpoint. It is the first time I have tried to make this kind of analysis, so I apologize in advance if I make any mistakes in my analysis.
