It has been happening for a long time and other authors on this site have talked about it before, but I want to focus on what changes have come about to really put the nail in the coffin for them. They just do not have a place in competitive play anymore. What can be done to help them, if any?
Hold still while I beat you with my cardboard tube!
Morello is extremely fond of the word "toxic" when describing certain champions. These champions are a rightful pain in the A**. And do not foster the gameplay that Riot wants to achieve. There is some misunderstanding amongst the community however on what Toxic means and who it applies to. Hopefully after this short treatise on the subject, you can then harass Morello all day with his own language.
Nerfs are an unfortunate but highly necessary part of playing any competitive game that gets regular patches. Some nerfs are better than others but nobody likes to see their favorite character nerfed. Though we love to see our hated nemesis nerfed! It is a tough cycle but I honestly feel like a lot of nerfs are more perception than reality with Riot. They have a habit of wrist slapping champions than actually nerf-batting them. Even their buffs are designed to change a perception as much as actually buff the champion. But when the real nerfs happen, you have to ask yourself, do I keep playing it or move onto the new OP?
I love to watch streams with pro players. But the most interesting part is what they say during their stream. Knowing why they do things and their opinions on topics is interesting. During Scarra's stream, he actually made the comment "Innovation is overrated." An odd thing to say from a pro player but as he spoke, it made a lot of sense. Just how much do we actually need to innovate the game? Do we need to really have these odd off-builds that lead to things like AP Yi?
