Players in Normal Draft

  • #1

So I was playing a game today in normal draft with two friends. My friends played mid and AD carry, with me being the support. The champions picked on our team, were in order: Gangplank, Nunu, Tristana, Anivia and Jax. The other two turned out to be premade, which meant that they had apparently already decided that neither of them would build tanky, with GP building Critplank, and Jax not even managing to build anything useful. GP went against a Pantheon in lane, and at that moment said "GG I got countered." My friends and I asked him why, and he said that Pantheon counters GP because of his passive. My friends and I thought that this was somewhat weird, as Pantheon's passive relies on him hitting you or using his stun on you, both of which Gangplank can avoid. This was already a bad sign to me. A little later in the game I found out that Gangplank was building Critplank and I told him to transition to a tanky build, but he flat out rejected that offer. Can someone help me with this? Or at least explain to me why this is such a problem in normals?

it's normals and we all think we're the greatest players ever so normal is below us and rank is where it all matters so fuck it yolo i don't listen to anybody.

Silver rule to survive in League of Legends without any rage:

Don't expect anything from anybody. The lower expectations you have about a player, the less he will disappoint you.

It isn't just normal, it is everywhere. Unfortunately this game has, and always will, have one of the worst communities. Either you have to play through these games, or uninstall.

...or develop the technology to bend anyone to your will anywhere. ( Just remember the little summoner that gave you the inspiration for this device )

What kind of nerdy joke was that? I am seriously disgusted.

You might as well do Ranked, as it's the same thing, only better! *this advice was brought to you by me being in an alt-tabbed ranked game, dead, wishing I'd learn to stop fighting the Dragon while smite is on cooldown

Anyhow, you shouldn't simply force the other champion to build tanky, that is his choice.  It's a poor choice, but he's not the only one who didn't build tanky.  You decided not to take a tank yourselves, and it can be punishing at times to have horrible or uncommunicative team mates.  As most people are aware, you can't be perfect all the time.  I've had games where I'd pick a fun jungler instead of a good one, because fuck you I'm not going to play Hecarim for the 18th game in a row.   I just want to have fun sometimes you know? If that means getting to play Trundle in the Jungle to wreck some faces, then so be it!  Ain't NO champion as fun to me as Nautlius, but he's so meh right now, needs him some buff's, perhaps to his friggin attackspeed?  I don't know, I just want to have fun man!

Pantheon's passive hard shuts Critplank, he should go tankplank JUST so he wouldn't be countered, but he didn't.   Jax can build tanky items like Randuins right after Bligewater, as Jax's natural damage is OP.    But you have to plan around these things.  Always assume your team mates won't pick "strong" champions, but instead they'll pick what they like. You don't know what they like, so just ask them.

Seriously tho, Playing for fun with Lee, Olaf, Trundle, all the jazz, pick up Xin Zhao for 4 games, and it's just crazy how fast people DON'T get away!

Just start boots you fat bastard, you'll get away!

well two things: 1. you don't really need a tank. but you'll need other means of winning the game, mainly steamrolling in the laning phase. i played a game where i (jayce) was the only melee. we ended up winning thanks to this, despite the enemy team having an olaf, elise, and leona.

    2. this community is no worse or better than any other online gaming community. coming from WoW i've seen the same "omg wtf" behavior that ignores their own failures. conversely, i've had some really beautiful moments in LoL where my team, in solo queue, was wonderfully on page with me, or meeting players who i got along with really well.

it's a toss-up. people still think they'll need to be assholes 'cause they've been treated like shit but that's just human nature. i've met enough people to counteract and come to terms with this.

    This.

The difference is you relay on randoms to do more in lol then you ever have in any other game.

As to OP: It's normals, dude wanted to play crit plank. Why he did it vs a pantheon (which he knew he was laning against) is beyond me, but maybe he wasn't playing for the win and just for fun.

Pantheon 100% shuts down critplank:  "Active: After attacking or casting spells 4 times, Pantheon will gain a shield that blocks the next Tower Shot or normal/enhanced standard attack which deals more than 40 physical damage to him." (http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Pantheon)

Thats 4 cs bro.  Not 4 attacks vs the champ you are laning against.
