In particular Trundle used to need to get frozen mallet or else he would never stick to anyone, now he can get IG and it will actually increase his damage output at the same time (sheen procs at least every 3.4 seconds). Previously it meant making decision to go for more damage and lose out on the tanky side, but this new item is incredibly effective at offering a tanky damage option (for some champs).

Apparently the giant poop pillar that slows everyone around it and can completely block escape routes if placed in the right spot isn't enough to stick to people.

Also, don't forget the 60 wasted ap.

however.. id doesnt stack with trinity and trinity is much better.

Trinity is not much better. Imagine having the trinity slow proc 100% of the time on a ranged ad. You will be kited for days and theres nothing you could do about it.

Trundle do have an AP ratios on his R, so it is not entirely wasted.

Last time I checked you don't (you're not supposed to) use Trundle's ult as a nuke, you use it on either the enemy tank to buff your resistances or you use it on the enemy carry to debuff his resistances. So yes, unless you're playing ap Trundle, the ap is wasted.

I don't think anybody has mentioned her yet, but IG is AMAZING on Elise. It gives her the tankiness and damage needed to survive and if someone else on your team has a frozen heart then it frees up another slot in your inventory. The slow is very good and allows her to chase down foes who are stuck in her web.

Khazix makes great use of this item. With 40% CDR, his Q is on a 2.1 CD, which let's him proc this all the time, and his ult is 2 casts, or 3 if you chose to evolve it. This replaces Frozen Heart, giving him similar tankiness but a good bit of extra burst. If you're doing well, you can also combine this with Tiamat/Hydra for some hilarious AOE burst combined with his spikes and leap, since you can activate the Tiamat/Hydra mid-leap to cancel the animation. The active on Tiamat/Hydra also procs the Sheen. The AP isn't horribly wasted on him, since his passive has a .5 AP ratio and comes up at least 3 times in fights, and his heal's AP ratio is .5, too.

You'd probably complete this after Cleaver and boots/Hexdrinker, putting its components wherever you feel like you can grab them.

Of course, if no one is grabbing FH, you should prolly make that a priority before Iceborn, though then you should communicate so you don't have to buy the Sheen.

For starters its 40 ap, But yeah actually, trundles pillar is not enough. If you play trundle a bit you will find he just doesn't have the sticking power. Hell look around at some of the builds on sites like solomid, almost every build has him with at least phage if not frozen mallet. The builds that don't have frozen mallet go into triforce for the extra damage - this is typically because the sheen procs on trundle are awesome. Now you get both of these in one item and the tankiness you would be building typically anyway, so yes it is actually worth the wasted 40 ap.

Im not sure i agree about the wasted ap.. but your correct, he does need the slow. the trade offs are trinity gives him far more in the way of dps, and MS. while IG gives slightly less sheen proc, in aoe, and a slow field(trinity does have near as good a slow), and a bit of armor and mana and cdr, at the cost of ap. i just hate wasting stats, and 40 ap isnt a small thing. i think he is better with trinity for most part, but both have their trade offs, and it may just end up being a preference thing.
