Can someone explain the Elo rating for S3?

  • #1

Can someone explain to me what's the current elo rating in S3, like how much do you need to be able to have a Bronze elo, silver, gold etc. Lately I'm having some success with a duo partner, and so far I'm currently 1284 elo, as opposed to my friend who's 1316 (I play ADC, he's support), the weird thing was that I have 2 friends who have around 1306-1311 and that your able to see their elo yet my friend has 1316 and is still unranked. So can somebody clarify this to me?

if you're unranked but can see your elo it means that you haven't finished your placement matches (usually 10 ranked games) and once you finish your placement matches then your elo shows up.

^ What he said. Also the first 10 placement matches cost/provide a lot more elo than the matches after them, so play them with caution. If you anyway mess up those, don't mind it. It's just a bit more climbing but no harm done :)

I checked the wiki already :(, it still doesn't make since to me on how the elo is different now from S2 to S3.

    Quoted from the wikia:

About a month before the end of Season 2, a new rating tiers system was introduced:

    • Bronze: Between 0 and 1149 (Team: 0-1249) (Top 100%)
    • Silver: Between 1150 and 1499(Team: 1250-1449) (Top 40-5%)
    • Gold: Between 1500 and 1849 (Team: 1450-1649) (Top 5-1%)
    • Platinum: Between 1850 and 2199 (Team: 1650-1849) (Top 1%-0.1%)
    • Diamond: 2200 and above (Team: 1850+) (Top 0.1%)

If that's the case wouldn't that mean you should already have a badge (such as a silver badge instead of having unranked). These were the elo changes near the end of season 2 where people were evaluated on their elo and given rewards corresponding that (such as the janna skin for gold players and up etc). What I want to really know is what is the required elo to actually end up having a ranking in Season 3?

u have to play 10 games in solo queue and 5 games in the team queues for your ratings to show.

EDIT: Yeah. Shouldve read b4 posting this shit. Im sorry :D

PotatoSalad is right.. few games = u get your rating displayed.

And its like the end of season 2 .. if you have platin you wont lose it even if u drop elo.

they'll probably post that near the end of the season. but i'd assume it would be little to no change.
