    Honestly, most of the spirit stone upgrades feel pretty useless as Amumu.

    I don't really need the regen, because I want Shurelya's more.  I don't really want to waste money on a Giant's belt, because that slows me down in getting Randuin's or Rylai's, and I don't need the tenacity, because when I'm going into a fight, I'm going all in.

    Right now I've been going machete->spirit stone->philo stone->Sightstone->Mobility boots->Ruby Sightstone->Aegis->Commando Boots/Bulwark/Shurelia->Randuin's.

    However, I'm contemplating dropping the machete/spirit stone all together, because Amumu clears so damn fast as it is.

    'I don't really need the regen because I want an item that gives regen'

    'I don't want to waste money on a Giant's Belt because I want to build an item that builds from Giant's Belt'

    Uh...

    'I don't want tenacity because when I go in, I go all in for half a second before I'm CCed and can't get back on the carry'

    Right.

    'I have a set build order irrespective of game situation, and am thinking about weakening my early game substantially so that I can have 500 more gold but be vulnerable to invades, earn less gold over time, and be on lower health when ganking'

    Fair enough. Enjoy.

    Couldn't have said it better myself. I read the Amumu post and went o.O

    I haven't completed any of the spirit stone upgrades on any of my junglers thus far so I am not qualified to comment However, I have been focusing more on AD junglers such as Nocturne, Gangplank, Xin, and Trynd. Wriggles works quite excellent on these guys and I am quite happy with its performance.

  • posted a message on How do people manage to play ranked?

    The most important thing that I have learned about playing ranked, or any game competitively for that matter, is that winning cannot be your driver. Your driver must be improvement or you will be frustrated beyond belief. Even when you lose, and your teammates "feed", you need to look at yourself and say, well, I learned something new about my positioning, warding, last hitting, etc. You must strive to improve over all else, and stop worrying about your statistics.

    The next important thing to understand is that your teammates are not the problem, you are. When I originally started playing ranked over a year ago I would play decently and lose the majority of my ranked games. I mentally blamed my teammates for being awful and moved on. However, after a year of more experience I understand that the reason I lost those games was because I didn't play well enough. Now when I play ranked I understand that I just cant win my lane, I need to crush my lane. I have won quite a few ranked games with quote un quote "feeders" on my team because I simply carried harder than my teammates fed.

    Naturally, this will depend on the position you frequent, as some roles are easier to carry with. However, if you play mid you can definitely carry games if you are good enough. And then, eventually, you will get to the point where you don't always crush your opponents, and things become more even. This is likely where you belong ELO wise for the time being. And going back to my first point, if you continue to strive for improvement, you may, with some work be able to continue moving up.

    As an aside, if your pissed, better stop playing. Or at least stop playing ranked for the time being.
