The pun is strong with this one

I believe the cool factor can play a huge role in how involved a player will be in his champ. The more involved the better he'll get (assuming we're talking mains), so the cooler the champ, the more people will play him and be good at him.

Ryze builds mana like no tomorrow, Kayle only has a single-target slow for CC, karthus can hardly chase anyone, yet they're all played competitively. Not saying heimer is better or worse than them, just that the same way you can build a comp around protecting koggy or whatever your plan may be, you could build some around heimy but i doubt many people tried. And if they did, i guess i'll find out soon enough why it didn't become something common.

I'm gonna go look for that video. Good night.

I wasn't expecting to read something like that around here, but thanks for sharing your thoughts. I think there would be alot less flaming if more people thought like that.

I always enjoy the irony that people point me out as a writer that the 'bad' writers (Stonewall/hashinshin) should emulate more, when I value their input highly.

    [...]

There was a team that ran heimerdinger jungle in a tournament, to great effect, mostly because the other team didn't really understand what was happening, and didn't respond well. My ranked team actually faced that very strategy the day after that tournament, and since our top player had seen that tournament and knew what was about to happen, it was REALLY easy to counter.

There's nothing wrong with Hash's input. He simply has his own... special writing style.

Would you mind linking to that tournament's video? On a side note i'd like to point out that your top laner vs the countered heimy was an entirely different situation than the tournament's. Similarly, just because i've made darius' life hell in top lane with a counter i mastered, doesn't mean that darius top is crap. The truth is that Heimy's playstyle is delayed, defensive, and people don't want that. Putting down a turret is completely useless in the process of chasing someone. You need a stationary fight, or back-and-forth motion, not flashy towerdives at the speed of Flash with resets to wow the crowd. You need mana, which is "the shittiest stat". Your grenade is slow and requires difficult aiming or particular conditions to land at all. People are not interested in that. Compare with Vi, Lee, Xin, Zac, and you get the picture. If i wanted to impress my 8 years old nephew that's who i would be playing, there's no preliminary knowledge requirement to appreciate bouncy/flashy moves and knockups, aswell as the vocal warcrys.

Now landing a perfectly timed slow-moving grenade blinding the adc while having momentarily zoned the support and AP with clever turret positioning +Ult, while using the partial minion clear provided by that to get all 3 of your rockets to hit an enemy champion, the promote you sent earlier in another lane is about to break an inhib turret thanks to the distraction provided by the whole teamfight?... my nephew doesn't give an eff about that.

He wants "Hiyah! Han, Humpf, Huwaah! Shwwwoaah!" ~ Xin Zhao killed enemy with his big spear! He too stronk! I wanna be Xin when i grow up and have big spear too! Anybody who doesn't play LoL and sees a tournament, or hears/sees you play over your shoulder, will naturally have reactions more like my nephew because that's what meets the eye/ear. Would you rather look like a fierce, strong fighter to those people (to yourself?.. and i mean anyone here), or try to explain how your heimer play was the result of clever planning, positioning, use of whatever obscure game mechanisms and flawless execution? We all know the latter only results in confused smiles to make you feel good. Most people made their choice about that, and it's the obvious one.

Did you know that since his rework which changed nothing to what his skills appear to be doing (enchating the ground, raising a pillar...), the less ugly Trundle got a whole lot more popular? I'm starting to drift away from the topic though. Please don't forget the tournament link, i'm really curious about it.

I think you mistook the "author" i was talking about for you. As far as i know, the bullying, subpar jungle heim video and the rest had nothing to do with you. You're a good writer generally, just keep going, don't defend the bad ones.

Heimy is a good champion btw, just underrated. Remember when Q Kha'Zix was all the rage and you (i) got called a noob for evolving W first? Then everyone pulled their heads out of their asses and W first became the meta? Or basically every meta shift ever that wasn't due to major sudden balance changes?

It's all about the meta. The day 12-minutes ultrafastpush becomes the meta (if ever), heimer is king. Or whatever else may happen. Like the recent buffs to some items i won't mention here.

They're actually buffing the extra damage to monsters, in the current PBE patch (30%, from 25%).

You make good points in your 2nd paragraph, but i couldn't take it seriously at all because of your first sentence.

VVinrar, no offence, but your accent is a bit strong for you to be doing videos.

I mean, really what's next? You're too young/white/dark-haired/male to be doing videos? Next time please paste the list of rules for doing videos please, i wasn't aware of them. I wasn't even aware that they matter more than the content of the video, either.
