So I've got a better, more opinionated question to shoot at you.

Phage.  

Tool of a Jungler? Too expensive? Expensive AND can only build into more overly expensive items?  Red Buff reduces the impact? Jungler's tend to want tools that don't require it?  Too much hammer not enough handle?

Phage is an incredibly useful item on a jungler, if you think about it, Red Buff spawns every 5 minutes and without the runic affinity mastery it only last 1.5 minutes which means for 3.5 minutes or more you will be without a slow proc on auto attacks. This makes phage an incredibly useful item on certain junglers like Shyvana Olaf or Nocturne. I would say I buy phage on most of my core junglers that are bruisers like these three, xin would also be good as well as some others like darius or jarvan. It is an expensive item but the effects from it are great even for the cost and the stats are good, remember early health is very strong.

There are many ways to play the role of a jungler, I play a tanky bruiser type style which means I try to zone enemy carries and beat on them while my carries can do the work. Obviously the enemy carries are going to want to try to stay away from you and so the Phage proc is really good to keep them close to you. 

I think trinity force is incredibly expensive for a jungler to buy and so I would recommend only getting phage if you are looking at going into frozen mallet in the future.
