I'm also a gamer with depression (which has been getting better lately, but it's still there, the underlying chemistry still prevents me from being "normal," whatever that means). I think I see what you're talking about but I tend to go for a different approach, more of a "I will use the techniques I use to force a positive outlook in myself, and apply them here," where I tend to focus more on playing roles like jungle and support and trying to set up kills and keep my teammates happy--I may not have a positive view of myself but that doesn't mean I can't have a positive view of others and encourage them to have a positive view, and give them the best possible chance of success.

What about gamers with depression? What if their brain is NOT currently wired to have a positive view about themselves? Does pride mean something different for them?

Lets be honest: 'This' have 11 pages already and you know why! This is the shadow of our generation, the big untold taboo that no one address and is also exclusive of the internet chats and games. The truth is, 90.5% of you frequently use girls characters as your alter egos, and 9.5% just don't! It is ok! No one cares about it for God sake! The fact is, since the first MMOS males have been playing as majority of the female characters in games. At the beginning, hiding their real gender, but soon (after WoW probably) they started open-up about the subject, although trying not to break character as much as they can. WHAT DOES IT MEANS TO FEEL GOOD BEING YOUR OPPOSITE GENDER? I don't know for sure, but I know you guys are not necessarily homosexuals because of that. This mater is independent of your sexuality orientation. I'm pretty sure of that. What ever your needs are, and why this happen on our modern society it's either a fenomenon caused by the exterior influences of the world around you or a natural human being behavior that could finally flourish within the right environment: online games.

The size of this discussion obviously is because either the majority are still confused about their 'self' as it is, or the minority still don't understand a bit of the fenomenon and because of that have a hard time accepting the fact that your own set of values are not the same as your other peers: society is like this, and one must accept  and respect what ever a fellow folks decide to be. Both sides shall respect each other. So, if you play as a female and didn't mentioned your incredible stories to your father, or even your grandfather, maybe it's time to do so. And if you are the blunt minority that have no understanding of other people feelings, remember that it is your duty to accept and respect your peer as they are, no less, no more: Respect be friends. We are all brothers and sisters.

Although you have a point in that the high usage of female characters by men in MMOs is culturally significant, I feel compelled to point out that I don't think it has implications about their gender identity the way you seem to suggest. Only 0.3% of the American population (and roughly that amount of the world population) are transgender, which is to say identify in a gender-nontraditional manner. I would suggest that this has implications more similar to the popularity of My Little Pony amongst 20-something males, which is to say that it reveals that men do, in fact, have a feminine side, and the societal pressure not to reveal that has started to decompose, or at least, will start to do so within the next decade.

Dungeon & Dragons (but you could have used google, so hard...). Btw, want some acid?

You can tell because Negative Energy doesn't pierce, there simply isn't enough resistance to it (just straight up immunities). Plus, you don't "pierce" in D&D, you "ignore" or "bypass."

But yeah, on topic...Vi should clearly remain a chick, because come on, let us have just one cool chick, you guys get all the cool character concepts.

Just an unorthodox suggestion, I don't know what strength of opponents you're playing against, but playing an AD caster/bruiser as a counter-mid can be effective against a great deal of popular mids, especially in solo queue where kat, diana, akali, and other fragile melee or low-mobility mids are popular. Riven gave me the idea to do this (and works well against any melee mid and many ranged mids, just swap with top if you see a Cassiopeia or Kennen), but I don't think she's the best unless you're really into her. Pantheon mid has the same strong advantage against many common solo q mids, Talon can be very strong with proper building/runing, and Lee Sin is a pick I've seen done very well and I've heard is quite viable. The key with many of them, especially Riven, is not necessarily to win their own lane (esp. against somebody who can truly escape you or actually out-dps you), but rather to keep enough CS to stay competitive, shove the lane constantly, and use their strong ganks to carry other lanes. That's also what makes them safe, as a counterlane will reduce your CS, but rarely your gank potential.

I'm not nearly as talented as many of the other people here, but I do have experience seeing this give excellent results in low-elo games. As always, YMMV, esp. depending how skilled your opponents are. I would never try this in gold, for example, unless I knew I was against a melee AP.

My point? I don't have a point. I was just helping (like J4 "helps"). I just find it ironic that one person would bash another's grammar... while using incorrect grammar. And I find insults carry more weight when you sound like you're highly educated, well informed, and just know what you're talking about in general.

I know, it's just like sometimes J4 "helps" because he doesn't realize his ult can be turned off, when he could just help for realz.. Oh, and btw, I do get your point--but I was just burning a troll. Troll burning just requires fire or acid damage. Not proper grammar.

Riven is very strong when fed and although her counters are popular, but she has ways of handling all of them (especially if your opponent isn't strong). Goldfather's guide on it offers some descriptions of how to handle most of her common matchups, both top and mid. She's also a strong snowball jungler.

The build I recommend for stomping at low elo is the super-trolly Mercs, BT, GA, BT, BT, BT. Your shield scales off ad. People will freak out when you hit them, and throw teamfights.

Not only do you fail at trolling, but you also appear to fail when it comes to English grammar.*

(I'm nearly almost surely mostly entirely possibly positive that "fail" isn't a noun; I think it's a verb)

The internets happened. Now "internets" is a singular noun and "fail" is every part of speech, and every tense or possible declension. But I can haz understanding re: ur point?

Yeah, you're right; it's so unfair that we don't have a female blind monk, a male spider, a female fat alcoholic, a male cat champion, a female centaur, a male half-dragon, a female Captain Hammer, a male mute, a female fabulous gem champion, a male plant (not a tree; it's too different), and a female armored bear, so people can enjoy those champions too.

Or, you know, normal people can play male and female champions, and different champions are different.

I'm a lot less suspicious of girl gamers wanting to play girl champs, due to historical trends in games NOT HAVING WOMEN and many of us still being kinda excited about it. I don't necessarily think all characters should be available in female or male...however, I do think some general trends like having a tank female (till leona, basically made me not want to play the game), or a magey support male, might be kinda cool. Having them all be at least semi-viable would be even better.

Just because the game didn't feature any female characters that were interesting to you, you  are some little children arent you? JUST BECAUSE THERE WASNT A CHAMPION LIKE LEONA OUT THERE? You don't have to indificate yourself with the champion.. its not an rpg children its an MOBA, lol... so bad trolling female.

Not only are you a fail at trolling, you're also apparently a fail at grammar.
