  • posted a message on Lux's Early Game: CDR or AP?

    I usually go Chalice > Sorc's > Deathcap > Grail.
The extra raw burst goes perfectly well with some surprise roaming and in mid-game skirmishes.

EDIT: And to the ones saying more sield, Lux's shield has a total scaling of 0.7, so it also gets the benefits of extra AP.
It's basically a personal preference of Burst over DPS/more cc or the other way around.

I stopped reading at about the end of the first half of the text. Too much QQ and false statements.

This guy is right. Honestly, you are most likely not playing the right/best champions for solo queue.

    Top: Elise, Rumble, Renekton

    Mid: Kassadin, Karthus, Lux

    Jungle: Hecarim, Vi, Jarvan

    ADC: Caitlyn, Tristana, Miss Fortune

    Support: Thresh, Blitzcrank, Taric, Lulu

They may not necessarily be your best champions skill wise, but if you pick them and get better with some over time, you will find yourself gaining more rating. (And not posting anymore of these QQ threads :P) I know I did not list all of the best solo queue heroes, but I at least gave you a good start for who you should play in each role to give you the most power and control over the outcome of the game. Good luck broski

There are only 2 choices to go up fast. One is Phoenix's approach: "Train with the best champs available", the other one is "stick to your best champions until you're god-like and know every possible matchup".

I always use myself as an example, and in this case is a little of both. I main support, and I main Leona, one of the best around to stomp in Solo Queue. I know her inside-out, and I've probably played against every possible (standard) matchup, up to the point that I can handle pretty much every lane given than my opponents aren't vastly superior to my lane mate. I screw up every now and then (Read every now and then as A LOT, that's one of the main reasons I'm in Bronze, tho I'm climbing up and near Silver now, I still have lots of things to improve), but even then, my win rate with her is near 60%, "winning my lane" in, probably, 70% of the games, and staying even in 15% of them.
I've got to the point where I WANT to leave blitz available for the other team, to shut him hard and lower their morale, and even laugh when I see someone trying to counterpick me (Usually with range, with Lux/Janna) because I'm 100% sure I have more experience in that matchup than they have and i can use that to my advantage, even if they "counter" me.

What I mean is: Stick to your role(s), stick to your champ(s), even if they aren't "OP" or FotM anymore. If you know the matchup, you'll win the lane, and if you know the team strategies and can adapt to them, that's half of the game.

Most of the comps on high bronze-low silver right now are either dive comps or poke comps. Try to fit your champs into them and you'll be fine.

And a way out of having a troll on the team on a ranked promotion without using a fail-safe system (like duo-ing with someone not in a promotion, so they can dodge for me if necessary).
Yeah, it's pretty similar to a kick, but the consequeces for the "kicked" player aren't as harsh. The base concept is the same: It's not just you that wants to avoid playing that specific game.

Well, the butcher effect is great for pushing, too, and if you're going tanky or full tank, having armor items with extra benefits can build up to be pretty good. I'll try this sometime to see if it works.

I'm impressed no one mentioned this yet: Make an "I'd rather dodge because of [insert numer of the player in the team's order]".
Similar to surrender, but blind, so there's no bias against one player. You can only do that to one player, and if the vote passes, the game disbands, without the dodge penalty. It might save you from some horrible games in ranked.
It's not a kick, but an agreed dodge, with no penalties. Should get some fixes so it's not exploitable, but it's an idea i haven't seen around.

    Quote from ihave2cows »

Jarvan has actually been a very strong support for a while, people just haven't realized it yet.

And see the thing is Gunthore, it doesnt matter that he's an all-in champion because he has all the right tools to be one. People complain that blitzcrank destroys botlane just by either zoning or landing one of his abilities. Well, taric can do the same thing, except his abilities are targeted, so its stronger zoning (I admit a stun is not as guaranteed a kill as a pull though). If he does stun someone, 1 second is still enough time for you to run up to the target, use shatter, and have your adc ult. If you dont kill the target, you bully them out of lane. And thats fine, because bullying someone out of lane still puts your team at an advantage. Also people are forgetting that his passive makes his attacks relevant in teamfights now, so there's that too. He gives more to people lategame other than just being a walking ball of stats. Yes, his early game as a support isnt as good as before, but that was the point. His early game used to be terrifying, and really didnt offer much counterplay unless you were leona or had tons of poke.

After the nerf to the banner, he has lost some of the "support" aspect, but still a great kill lane support.

For Dive-comp Tanks, Shen, Leona, Amumu, Nautilus, Malphite. Probably in that order. (Leona over Amumu because her burst survivability fits perfectly on a well synched dive).

On a side note: Thresh. The perfect diver's "save my ass after i go all in" teammate.

Edit: On a second side note, the Leona/Diana combo is pretty awesome for diving, CC'ing and bursting to death champs with good escapes. I had the pleasure of being in a pretty well coordinated Sun/Moon tag team the other day, I got her a double on a full health 2 mobile v 2 divers fight.

  • posted a message on Is Riot Trying to Revert the Metagame?

I think Riot isn't really trying to shift the Meta back to how it was before, but trying to open up the possibilities and balance things out up to a point where Meta-sheep will go "OMFG what's the meta now? I'm seeing all the pro teams using different stategies and comps and I'll have to start thinking which one is the best for me by myself111!11!!!!"

It will be a hard job, but it would make the game MUCH more interesting.
