I've always *tried* to analyze the enemy team and base my jungler off of that, but it's closer to just trying to balance between CC and damage. This is really fantastic stuff, thanks!!

An early surrender doesn't have to be at 20. But if, at 25 minutes in, we're 16-3 in team kills and have 3 turrets on you, your team will prooooobably want to end it.

I think the reason to play viktor is due to a) his relatively safe laning phase. He can farm with his laser from a safe distance very effectively, in additon to poking with it.

b)He has excellent burst damage with his ultimate, and it's aoe. It's an extremely high damage ability which is also AOE and has the bonus of interrupting the odd channel. His laser adds to this in furthering his overall aoe damage, which is very useful in teamfights. He's also less squishy than many other mid laners.

    c) His stun can be excellent if used well. It's difficult, but if used well can be a gamechanger, similar to veigar's E in essence.

    d) The added bonus that since he's so rare, not many people are accustomed to laning against one, and thus may be more likely to underestimate him or such.

Indeed. He has great potential at all elos, but not many really appreciate him. And As Arannan said, he's not often seen in tourneys because of he doesn't often fit their very specific strategy. There's no reason you shouldn't try and use him though. Just give him time, and you could easily see him become one of your favorite champions. Most people who play Viktor play him because they really love him-That's a good sign, and a good thing in general.

As you said, some duos have gone horribly wrong. I think it depends on those other players. If they're people like us who often duo, they're less likely to cry about duos.

If they're people who prefer to play alone, their experience may often be ruined by premades. I had a game not too long ago where it was me and a 4-man, it almost made me quit the game for good. Mind, i often team up with 2-3 friends, so i agree with you. Just trying to play devil's advocate for you :/

Yeah. Maxing either W or E works. I've tried both, and i think E's better first though. It's about burst. The higher cost is a pain, but the lower CD makes up for it. and yeah, you don't necessarily use it to initiate a fight. In fact, you don't even really use it in a 1v1 for mobility. You use it for repositioning and the slow and the damage. AND to negate/kill/trollpole at least one of the enemy's abilites. Take Vi for example. If she ult you and starts charging you, you can just tap E and it cancels her ultimate. You can actually do this with ANY targeted projectile.

By 'core', do you mean the first 1500 or the first 3000? I'm curious. I'm in the same boat as Raikaria (although, being a Fizz main, i'm STILL not getting liandry's on him) and wondering when to buy it. Would it make sense to get one solid item like RoA or Rylai's or Abyssal and then torment? (and this is NOT for fizz, just general)

But he's still optimal mid or in some cases jungle. I'm not disputing that he works in the jungle, but it's like jax or tryndamere jungle: need that $$

Yorick's fantastic top, Fizz is fantastic mid, decent top, Kha'zix is great mid, decent top. Darius is great top, can't mid. Kennen's great top, good mid... I think that's it.

They all have different roles. Kennen's a teamfighter with a safe laning phase, darius is a beast laner and decent teamfights, fizz is a tricky laner with tricky teamfight(hardest of them, imo), and yorick's a major split pusher. Kha'zix generally has a good lane phase and good teamfights.

Oh man this guy is fun. He was kind of OP before the changes that just happened, but I think the diminished slow (25% down from 35%) on his passive will probably leave him in an ok spot.

In my opinion, top lane is actually the least safe place to play him (although it still works a lot of the time) because Kha' Zix is a bit weak early on and needs a fast brutalizer and tear to pump out consistent damage. After lvl 6-8 range when his W is getting strong (and evolved) he starts to really wreck stuff. After you evolve E and have a decent amount of AD (when in team fight mode) just try to get some damage in with your W and use E to try and get good positioning on a squishy. Hopefully you can get the reset on E and chain it from there. Kha' Zix isn't the greatest dueler, but you can try to roam the enemy jungle to catch people because his ambush damage is really high and he has decent escapes.

ehhh i disagree with a good amount of this guy's opinions, BUT mostly due to the fact that i play kha'zix differently than a lot of others. One thing we both agree on is that kha'zix is worst top lane. For zix, it's mid>jungle>top>bottom. He's viable top, but not that great. Actually, i also agree with his first statement about OP versus balanced. anyways:

Kha'zix is a fantastic dueler if the enemy is isolated, and still decent if not isolated. But this guy maxes W first instead of Q (most people go W), so that explains it. There are 2 ways to play kha'zix: Max R>W>Q>E, evolving W first, and farming/poking from a range safely but at high mana cost, or maxing R>Q>W>E, evolving E, then W/R ( i really don't recommend evo Q unless against a ton of tanks). My usual style is zoning the enemy mid(i usually go mid with him, top would likely prefer W-route) by having Q and E. If they try to harass, you dodge their harass and E to them. Kha'zix's early game dps is much, much bigger than perhaps any mid laner, especially since mid laners are more often isolated in my experience. Once you evolve E, they can't poke you without risking an engagement, and kha'zix will usually win these with his high burst and high sustained dps. It does depend on matchup, for tankier ppl W-path is better.

TL;DR there are 2 different ways to play him, both work pretty well. Also, build is to go basically glass cannon, you'll want something like a GA as well. Usual build is: Merc treads, BT, BC, LW,GA, Hydra
