I've used mallet situationally, but the cost for a phage is just not worth it and I'd rather, as was said before me as well, snatch up a frozen gauntlet instead if dealing with people kiting way too hard.
Atma's I just REALLY want to like, but there's just better ways to use a slot.
Against and AD heavy team I'd rather a frozen and a sunfire/randuins before mallet and atmas.
As a bruiser you're really going to be relying on your base damages anyway, and if you really want damage there's always hexdrinker if they have a strong AP going around nuking or just getting a last whisper/bc for later on.
A lot of the best bruisers atm are really those with passive armor shred anyway (renekton and jarvan to name a couple) and have really strong base damage and utility/movement. That said, I wouldn't bother with a gauntlet on renekton, really, but jarvan can make good use of it at least.
All in all, if you're playing bruiser, your job currently is to alternate between peeling or diving as the situation dictates, and the squishy damage dealer is going to die to your base damage anyway or at least be shoved out of the fight while the rest of your team takes advantage of this.
Also, I've tried this out a bit here and there and I am REALLY starting to like the lizard spirit item on a lot of bruisers. Gives you a good damage spike, some regen, and cdr all in one package. Worth looking into, imo, at least before the inevitable nerf that it's going to get. Riot just can't let us have nice things. Same goes for golem spirit too on certain champs. They also really play a big part when time comes to get dragons or baron.
Would make Heimer pretty interesting to be sure... His nice siege line with Jayce poke, add in accelerated missiles/grenades/turret shots... Would be broken as hell, yet I'd be happy for the 'Dinger getting some love. My friend still has to deal endlessly with people calling him a troll for playing him despite how well he does in the right comp.
The only other thing I could think that would be gamebreaking that I don't recall being mentioned would be Janna's tornados...
How do you look at it?
I can be amused by it, at times. I still love spamming Zac's laugh as you're reforming when your passive goes off and I will constantly be dancing in lane or near turrets and stuff when I have no real reason to be moving/attacking anything or if I want to bait someone. They always feel the need to punish me for dancing, regardless of the threat of the jungler murdering them and dancing with me.
How high would you rate annoyance of spaming emotes?
Depends on what emote and how long it is spammed for. Yi can be funny for about a minute or two, but after that it's just stupid and annoying. Also, if the team is all hiding in a bush and you start emote spamming as someone is coming to facecheck it, generally you tick me off as you may have cost us a free kill. It's part of the game, and feel free to do it, but if you honestly sit and spam an emote for 55 minutes straight like TheDevicer admits to doing, I would likely become very annoyed.
How would you react in this situation?
It can force me into being over aggressive on someone, so I have learned to not be baited by the annoyance and generally to hit ignore so I don't have to hear it anymore. If it is someone on my own team, I may ask them to stop and tell them that I will use ignore, sacrificing communication, just so I don't have to hear it anymore. If it is someone else on my team begging someone in their lane to stop and an argument happens to start over it (I've seen it happen) I am not above reporting them for Spamming due to them ruining the game by driving the team to arguing. It's very uncommon, but I've done it before.
TL;DR - It doesn't get to me, I do it to a minor extent as well, but if you are honestly doing it for extended periods of time just to be annoying/trollish, you will find yourself on my ignore list and possibly reported for spamming, but only in very extreme cases.
It's cheaper, gives passive health regen, a little bit less AP, but adds CDR.
If you're running a mostly AP team, WotA could indeed be the better option, but if it's just you and the support really relying on AP, Spirit of the Wraith can be overall a bit better, even if it's more of a selfish item.
For Sion - I get that Riot is really stuck with the 'Big zombie with an axe' or 'big magic zombie' and I already feel there is a solution just based on other champions. There are plenty of undead champions, and aside from Hecarim, they are mostly 'mage' like. Karthus, Morde (He's pretty much Magneto who steals souls), Karthus, Tresh kind of falls into the Morde category of steal souls and swing a big weapon around, Yorick scales better off of AD but he's also a caster more often than a 'bash you with my shuvel' guy even though it plays a big part. Sion belongs in the Darius pile of 'I'm a big guy with a big axe and I will beat you with it while refusing to die' - It fits hes pre-ressurection lore. Despite 'gaining zombie powers' his base personality would fit to 'Hey, I can still wonk people with my big axe, but now I don't have to worry about dying as much and their brains taste good'. I get that there's hold outs who love the whole 'I hit you with my stun and it hurts a lot' and that's great, but just like a lot of other remakes who threw people out in the cold when it came to their favorite champ, would you rather your favorite champ gets to get all prettied up and hopefully be a bit more usable, or do you want your sometimes good ugly looking mess that you wish you could get away with playing more? That's just my opinion on that. Also, he has Arnold voice. Arnold hits things, he doesn't magic them.
Survival instinct. It's always better to play safe, and I don't really care much for the soloQ aspect of 'Be a god at every role or you're a noob' ideations flying around, yet it still remains; playing every role and a good amount of champs, even if you don't main them, is good to do. Knowing their role, what their capable of, and being able to compare it to yourself - This lets you know when to risk it and when to just walk away. Spamming /all WORTH IT!!!! despite giving the enemy team 1-2 assists for your kill doesn't make the extra gold you gave them magically go away. If you dive 2v2 and die, but your team picks up the kills and your buddy walks away, then you can call worth it. If you dive 1v4 and get a kill, but give away a buff and a bounty to take out a support, it is NOT worth it. Stop being dumb and throwing your life away and wait for when you can get safe kills. I'd rather we take a 1 for 0 in a teamfight and let them all get away rather than lose 4 for 5 kills because we chased them all around when we could have taken the 4v5 advantage to take an easier dragon or possibly a tower in a stronger position.
Third point you made, I'm in complete agreement. Sometimes being the fastest person to CTRL + V isn't always going to get you what you want. I don't CARE if you "can't play X" and "always feed" - No, you don't 'always feed' because you 'can't play it' - You always feed because you're having a cry fit that you didn't get what you wanted and decided to just half ass it to punish everyone. Guess what? Play together, win together, get your LP because you actually put in the effort to win, and get up in ranks to where people actually start to RECOGNIZE people for being good at a role and RESPECT it, because that sure ain't gonna happen at Silver where EVERYONE on your team thinks they can 1v1 Voyboy in top lane easily but are only losing because /all feeder noob trash team gg im afk.
Teemo works well, esp for the fact that people can't help but send 2-3 people through his mushroom field every time leaving you free to straight push/engage on people. That global taunt is always fun.
Rengar, despite his nerfs and difficulty to do well with outside of getting snowballing early, is still amazing at dropping turrets VERY fast and if you run ghost + his ulti you can make it back to your team fairly well if you need to get to them in a hurry.
Sorry wasn't quick on the draw this time... For 9/0/21 I go for improved recall, improved flash, movement, summoner spell CD, all the gold masteries, spellvamp, cdr, and movespeed.
The bead start I hadn't really used much but I probably should, as it does work quite well even pre-nerf and post nerf it just makes it all that much more reasonable to go for.
I don't really see why you couldn't go 21/9 on Vlad, but out of personal preference I really feel the other two trees reward you more for going heavily into them. Even on ADCs I rarely go the full 21 just because there's so much more to get elsewhere. Why get a small damage increase when you can grab good early game defense or great utility is how I have seen it.
I use Movespeed Quints, 9 pen reds, 3pen blues, armor seal, ap/level glyphs.
I prefer to rush a revolver into Zhonyas and do the usual 'Flash/Ghost' for the extra 'You can never catch me' aspect.
I've been bouncing back and forth with 9/21 and 9/0/21 - Not sure which I like more, one adds CDR and utility, the other gives me the ability to survive a bit better but he has sustain/kite for that. Also the ability to start Dorans Shield and a health pot is always nice if you're up against someone who can't easily all in on you without you being able to walk away.
He definitely has some unfavorable matchups and it can be hard to secure those early kills sometimes as top is a bit more dangerous to dive/hard push, but he can farm for days, stay in lane forever once you get a revolver, and is all around a pain.
I've also liked the Spirit of the Wraith on him after getting a revolver/rod or revolver/hourglass on him for the added CDR and 20% vamp - You don't give an aura to your team like with WotA, but the tradeoff in cheapness and stats you give yourself is VERY efficient.
I mostly like him for his waveclearing split strength and the damage amp in teamfights, but I do feel with the current sustain start he doesn't do much that other people can't early on and this weakens his abilities in comparison. When pots get limited to 5, if this is indeed going to happen, he might have a bit better showing early on.
What about Morellonomicon?
