If you wanna train at last hitting, don't go custom, it's a waste of time.

I wouldn't be so categorical. Custom games could be a good training time, even without bots. The matter is that every champion has his/her own auto-attack animation and speed. Last-hitting with Zyra, for instance, is not like last-hitting with Cassiopeia. By training in custom games you can gain nearly perfect timing. It goes without saying that you can only learn to last-hit, to harass, to dodge harassment and to check the minimap at the same time by playing against human players.

The best champions to play in low elo (it's where I belong as well) are the so-called 'noobgrinders': relatively easy-to-play champions which can snowball hard - i.e. Adc Graves and Ezreal, top lane Darius and Olaf, mid lane Evelynn and Katarina, support Leona and Blitzkrank.  The more you get fed in lane, the more the chances you can carry and win the game. Btw lane phase isn't all and if you play by yourself, ignore your team or cannot coordinate it, you will likely lose the game.

Jarvan IV as well. I've seen him being played as top laner (usually), as jungler (often), as mid laner (seldom), and as support (very rarely)

I'd say Varus ap mid. His magic damage based on targets' maximum health and the massive damage of his ult (1.0 ap ratio) can take his opponents unawares.

He can be fitting to a poke lane, but you have to keep an eye on your mana, since Q drains alot. His heavy damage could be fitting a burst lane as well, but his lack of cc makes it difficult to kill opponents. And sometimes you can steal kills from your carry, due to your uncontrolled damage. If there were a tier list for supports, I'd put him at the bottom of it.

To get a sense of when creeps' hp are low enough to last hit I suggest you to train yourself in custom games, with or even without bots. Pay attention to all the wave of minion, how their health bars get lower, and how your minions' aggro system and behaviour work. If you feel like you will lose 2-3 minions to get 1, it's time to use your aoe skill, if you have one. You can start with doran's blade or a long sword to make the thing easier, particularly when you're pushed at your turret. Btw I think it's only a matter of personal experience.

Teemo still strong, but he does suffer from the stigma of a publicly-advertised 75 deaths per second.

Your teammates have probably not played a game since July or are complete morons

I think they are complete morons. :D

A similar situation happened to me when I picked Zyra mid. "WTF ZYRA MID!!! WHAT A USELESS CHAMPION!!". I  wait 30 minutes rather than play with such idiots.

If I would play top, probably I would start still with boots. Since I play mid or bot lane, I feel like they're not a must-start-with item. If you to dodge skillshots (i.e. Brand, Morgana etc) they really can help you. Otherwise 2 Fairy Charms (mana regen), doran's ring or blade or a long sword are all valid alternative to boots of speed.

  • posted a message on Over Active Supports

I find all the new items with those active skills very situational. The one I buy in nearly all my games as support is Shurelya's. Shard and Twin Shadows are both very good item, but I wouldn't buy both of them. I prefer Shard over Twin Shadows due to its gold per second feature. This means I will buy a lot of Pink Wards, that is psychological war and map control. Junglers or tanky solo tops usually build the Bulwark, that I find too expensive for a support, so I never buy it unless requested by my team or upon agreement with tank(s). Same for Randuin's. Since HoG doesn't exist anymore, Randuin's cost could weigh heavily on the support's budget. Moreover, its active doesn't slow att.speed anymore. Locket could be a valid (and cheaper) alternative to Randuin's. Banner of Command... I deem it a niche item. I've tried it only twice. It only fits to split pushing teams, imo. I liked the Zeke's before the patch, when it boosted att.speed rather than att.dmg. Mikael's is the most situational among supportive items, due to his "useless" (except m.res) stats and the long cd on his active. Obviously I buy it if my ad carry has to deal with heavy crowd controls.

To conclude, my build usually is: Boots (cd, armor, m.res, or mobility), Ruby Sightstone, Shurelya's, Shard, a free slot for pink wards. The last item depends on situations.
