  • posted a message on # Of Losses To Go Down A Division Differs?

I hate the new League system, but my complaints are slightly more #firstworldlolproblems than most of yours... My Gold V smurf is constantly matched with Plat V to Gold II players due to high hidden Elo, and I always get made fun of during champ select for it :(

It's a lot harder to be demoted if you have low MMR (Elo), so you can lose a lot of games at 0 LP.  I have read that its impossible to be demoted from Gold to Silver or Silver to Bronze as long as you don't Elo decay out of a division.

  • posted a message on What do I need to fullfill to write a guest article?

I fleshed out this post with a lot of stuff because I've written some variation of it to a lot of people, so not all of is relevant to you specifically. Some of it is copypasta I use for general inquiries.

We're not hiring full-time editors right now. That door has been closed for almost half a year now, and even 6 months ago it was a fairly competitive field -- I hired Gentleman Gustaf, Emeraldw, and Old Man Eyebrows out of a field of 50+ applicants of all qualifications. So yeah, moving on.

Right now, we have two levels of guest posters.  The first level consists of (1) people known in the League community (think Redmercy) (2) employees brought in from a different Curse site (hashinshin, molster) --  that are invited to author articles for their specialty at a certain (low traffic) time of the week.  These guys have access to our inner system, and we don't like giving out access because there are a lot of hackers who can do fishy stuff if they get access to one of our accounts -- basically, to get into the full system, the staff has to go through a 3-tier validation system that involves having the right password, IP address, and email address/password.  Basically, you can't get access to that.

The other level is for one-time guest articles. If I or someone else recognizes your name from previously authored content, you have one step in the door. This means work on reddit, general discussion, our forums, whatever. Otherwise, I need a writing sample or a detailed proposal of what you want for the article. A well authored post on our forums will accomplish the writing sample, and I would say its a pre-requisite if you have no other work -- thats why we recently created the Written Work section -- it provides a forum for amateur writers. Formatting doesn't matter, and to be honest, the editor on the forums basically has everything that we would use in our main editor anyways.

Most full articles at our site are between 1000-1500 words written with the emphasis that grammar must be at least equivalent to an American high school education, but the draft/idea proposal doesn't need to be that long.  It just has to prove that the idea hasn't been done 50,000 times, and that it can actually be fleshed out without sounding repetitive.

As a warning, we're not obligated to publish your work if you submit it. One of my favorite guest authors, who also does a lot of my artwork (including my avatar) makes me a post every month or so, and I only publish probably one in three of his articles.

There once was this scrub jungler without Summoner Smite who took ignite, then invaded Trundle. Trundle found him,and then he grabbed his club and scored first-blood. He then yelled, "NEVER PLAY FIORA" This was personal, because of fiora's summoner name was "Play Fiora Forever". He then grabbed a doran's blade and smacked Nasus' and he falls into a big pile of POOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. The poo actually was surged heimerdinger, who took out a fed Akali and then he became great necrophile. Yorick was unamused, Karthus was amused. Karthus then pressed F instead R, but he forgot he was OOM, so Karthus aggroed the big wolf to

  • posted a message on Moving Up In Silver?

Learn how to get every creep you can. I'm not talking about getting perfect cs in lane, but more about getting cs AFTER your lane, which is where 90% of low silver players fail. 80 cs in 10 minutes won't get you anywhere if you have 120 cs after 25 minutes. Even if your team is derping around and playing aram, run to wraiths and farm up whenever you see an opportunity. Solid farming will get you into the upper brackets of Silver even if you poor at the other parts of the game.

    CS never lies.
