Glad to see you agreed with me on some points at least. Yeah I did leave out singed and idk why. lol The reason I say Karthus is because you pick Karthus to win the game. Karthus is awful against practically every mid laner. But you pick him to farm a lot and then hope you don't feed to much because late game you push R and everybody loses half of their health bar. I don't like Xin because his damage got nerfed and he usually builds tanky. which is fine, but in solo queue you need more than just survivability to carry from the jungle, unless your team is good. (which is usually not the case lol) That is why I prefer Jarvan over Xin in solo queue.
On another note, yes this is a guide for bronze and silver because look at the title of the thread. :P I'm Diamond btw, but I play with my not so good friends on a smurf and I tell them to play these champs and why they should.
I'm still really not convinced on Karthus though, he's too prone to getting snowballed against, and depends on the enemy team to not finish too early, which isn't always a reliable tactic.
You said it yourself right there with "hope you don't feed too much". That's certainly not the best way to carry a low elo game.
Here's a random anecdote I remember, Chaox was smurfing at silver and was playing Karthus one game. He was feeding quite hard versus an Annie (Regi was laughing his ass off in the background).
Also, I believe CC and burst damage are the most OP things at that elo, and Karthus brings neither, as opposed to every other non-ADC champion you mentioned.
The Xin nerfs were so minimal...his E damage got reduced by a bit, and the base damage on his ult got nerfed a bit. Late game, with just a brutalizer, and Locket (for CDR) I'm sure he does more DPS than Jarvan anyday, thanks to his crazy W steroid and Q CD resets. The goal of Xin nerfs was to discourage Xin players from building Aegis+Locket+Warmogs+Randuins and still deal decent damage. As long as you manage to build one damage item (can be as small as a Brutalizer or as big as a BorK), the nerfs are practically non-existant because he still has strong scalings
