The proposed changes don't touch AP Karma's main abilities, Q and E. These changes would strengthen AP Karma if anything. Although the proposed W is support focused. Maybe giving it a passive, or armor/mr buff/debuff would make it viable for both support and ap karma.

My mistake, you did mention that. I also think that using spirit bond on ally+enemy champ will make tanks that are easily kited more viable (e.g. nasus, udyr). Although they would have to give it a pretty big cast radius to make it practical to use. Awesome champ ideas. Makes champions more complex which is always a plus. I think Riot is also moving towards champs without simple mindless mechanics. 

I think what Karma needs is CC. Even with the proposed changes, a slow/speed-boost would be the only form of CC on top of her Q and E which need AP to be effective late game. The best supports all have around 2-3 CC abilities, while Karma has 1 weak slow. Even Soraka, who doesn't carry any stuns/snares has a long silence on top of her burst heal. The best NSF is a strong crowd control, and is what Karma needs. I personally think her W should be totally changed, and not simply reworked, into a stun/snare/knockback of some sort. Either that, or her mantra bonuses need to add a cc effect so that it can scale into late game without AP. I have to admit though, it's tough to rework her to make her both a viable AP mid and support. I think any rework Riot ends up doing will definitely push her into one of the two roles. 

EDIT: Thinking about your W change, it'd also be neat if you can cast spirit bond on your tank and their carry (instead of two allies). That would make it more viable I think.

My goal is to become proficient at all roles (i.e. improving in top/jungle).
