  • posted a message on Tips for climbing the League

As a former 800 elo player who is now GOLD III I can give you a few tips

    1) CS and objectives are more important than kills ie learn to last hit, ward, and play safe

    2) If you die 1v1 don't try to fight them again unless you recieve a gank from you jungler

    3) Don't support at low elos

    4) Know how your champ scales. Akali needs kills early so get them or you will be behind. Same with Lee. Singed will scale with just farm. So will most tanks such as Sej, Amumu, and Malph. These are generally safer picks as you can play safely and out-scale your opponent.

  • posted a message on Match Making Needs Fixed [Ranked] - Message To Riot

You make a few false assumptions. You seem to think the matchmaking systems matches people based on their ladder ranking. MMR and ladder ranking are 2 completely separate things. LOL uses MMR for matchmaking while the ladder system is basically just an overlay. LOL does not using ladder rankings for matchmaking. If a player has a silver league ranking, but has a MMR equivalent of a platinum player, HE WILL NOT BE MATCHED WITH SILVER RANKING MMR PLAYERS. He will be matched with plat players where his win rate will be about 50%. He will lose very little LP for a win but gain a lot of LP for a win. Only two things throw off the matchmaking system: 1) people who's skills are not equivalent to their MMR (smurfs) and 2) duo ques with a large difference in their MMR. The system does try its best to move plat players to the MMR they belong through confidence rating. People with a low number of games gain and lose a much larger amount of MMR. Not only does this move smurfs up, it moves unskilled players down. Duo ques are a much bigger problem (I personal think they should be removed from ranked solo). It is much easier for a duo que to win if they have a very large MMR difference (bronze and plat). This is due to the fact that the system uses the average MMR of the duo for matchmaking purposes. As long as the low MMR player plays safe, it is easy for plat player to outplay their opponent.

No. The goal of matchmaking is to predict how likely a team is to win. It is fine if a team has a 90% likelyhood of winning, as long as the system only gives them 11.11% the reward the other team would get for winning. Over 10 games, the system will even out. This is why sometimes you get 15 LP for a win and the next game you get 25 LP for the win. One game you might only have a 30% likelyhood of winning, but it does not matter. Eventually it will even out (1000+ games). MMR is the only thing matchmaking takes into account. This does not mean every game is fair.

    1) Matchmaking only takes account of you MMR, NOTHING ELSE.

    2) Games are not always 50/50, but the more heavily weighted it is on one side the less they gain/less you lose. The matchmaking system could be changed to include a longer wait time to get each match as close to 50/50 as possible, but in the long run (1000+ games) it would not matter.

When I first started ranked, I fell down to 800 elo. I did not feel that I belonged there. I did. I was so bad. You say people should be able to easily rise in the ranks. IMPOSSIBLE. League of Legends is a 0 sum game. For every winner, there is a loser. A 55% win rate on a champ means they are overpowered. If you have a 55% win rate, you would have to play 100 games just to win 10 more games than you lose. This is less than two tiers. Before trying to fix the system, fix yourself. Are you better than everyone else at you MMR, maybe. Are you so much better that you win 80% of your games, probably not. To climb the ranks in League of Legends you have to be a) be a lot better than everyone else and b) play lots of games. If you think you deserve to be two tiers higher, then go play 200 games and see if you have reached it yet. If not, you didn't deserve it in the first place.

Also remember that the distribution in League of Legends is exponential.

Bronze: Bottom 50%: 50% of players

    Silver: Top 50% - 12%: 38% of players

    Gold: Top 12% - 3%: 9% of players

Plat: Top 3% - less than 1%: 2% of players

    Diamond: Top less than 1%

If you are Sivler V and you want to get to Gold V, you have to get better than the 38% of other players ahead of you. It has taken me over a year and over 2000 games to get to the top 6% of the leage (http://www.lolsummoners.com/search?region=na&name=natemiddleman2). Advancing is hard work and will not have you talk nonsence becuase you lost a few games (that you probably deserved to lose). Every game is not winnable. 80%+ of them are so go win them instead of complaining here.

  • posted a message on [Official Riot Post] Pick Order vs. Call Order

They haven't ignored it. That is why Draft Pick Normals exist. Blind Pick exists so people can play whatever they want. Will I always try to win in Normals. Of course. Will I play my best champions. No. Will I pick the champs that give us the highest chance to win. No. That doesn't make me a troll in a Blind Pick game. That is what it is for. The only problem with it is the people who take it 100% seriously. If people want a perfect team comp every time (or most of the time if you don't get trolled) they need to play Ranked or Draft Pick Normals if under 30.

I like posting here because the articles doesn't leave the first page in 10 mins. RIOT will never respond here but that's ok.

Blind pick is for practicing and that's about it. I don't feel comfortable playing Cass in ranked so I will practice with her in normals every now and again. It doesn't matter what lane I end up in. It doesn't matter if I'm the last one to pick and we don't have a jungler or adc. Blind is blind and the goal is not to win. The goal is to get comfortable with a champ your bad at.

Only Corki could possibly use this build and even then it would not be as good as it is on ez as his missiles do not apply on hit affects

ADC who use this build need a)long range poke, b) good escape abilities c) spamable abilities. Only Corki and Ez fit this criteria and Corki just isn't a strong champ since his last set of nerfs.

Answer: non scaling on hit items. What changed bewteen season 2 and season 3. Wits End and Trinity. The thing about these items is that they dont scale with abilities. They scale with attack speed and other items. Those nerf destoyed almost all meele auto attackers.

Rengar has the same problem as old Eve. Too much in one kit that allows you to easily kill someone who is not prepared. The change to his ult will suck, but they have to do it. They can not buff him without changing his ult because of how similar he is to old Eve. Go invisible, jump on someone, cc them, and burst them 100-0. While this won't happen at higher elos or even medium elos, it will happen whenever someone makes a smurf account and plays Rengar against newbs. If Rengar was balanced, he would be old Eve 2.0.
