  • posted a message on All-Star Day 1 Recap: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Every single member of the NA LCS team were pretty self depricating, not cock-sure. In all the interviews and transition videos they were saying how it would be an upset if they won, and they wanted to real bad but didn't expect to.

I knew game 2 wasn't going to go well for NA when they had 8 kills, and 7 of them were on Saint's Voli, the last person on the team you want to feed that many kills. Even Xpecial's Janna could have been more useful with that much gold.

There were some highlights though, such as Xpecial's fucking amazing highlander survival from the top tower dive for First Blood and Doublelift playing a disturbingly good Urgot game. I could not believe how many times Dlift got caught out and turned the tide on 1v2 and 1v3 fights while support showed up.

Also, Nashor's is getting that really nice buff to include the Malady passive on PBE, making it the far leader in damage output.

That's the point they're trying to make. The only guys good against Renekton are the ones that can match his sustain, or just power through it. And let's be honest here, how often do you even see Garen top anymore? I can't remember the last time I saw him outside of ARAM.

  • posted a message on Jayce is THE most viable top lane.

    Quote from Elmanbeastio»

Why does jayce need to get ungodly fed or carry a game fast? Most tournament play sees jayce only getting stronger. His poke gets so devastating, people have to instantly abandon objectives. And his full combo 100%-0s anything at end game.

Anyways, I do think hes probably the best top laner after Elise's recent nerfs.

The other 2 supremely safe picks IMO are renekton, and kennen. Have yet to see how rumble with nerfs is doing.

Jayce needs a lot of farm or to get fed. In tourney games they'll always get to the super farm phase given enough time, because they are the best mechanical players in the world. At any ELO below Diamond, if you don't get fed and haven't been farming like a madman, you will never hit the break point of crushing on people.

Jayce is good, no denying. He's probably the most balanced top laner, in that he has no weak match ups, but he has no strong match ups. He doesn't have a built in edge against Tryndamere or Rengar who you use as examples, but they are both kinda weak right. Against a lane bully like Rumble, Renekton or Singed, they can shut Jayce down by not letting him get kills and constantly shove him to tower to hurt his farming. As a primarily Singed player in top lane, I'm never afraid of Jayce, because most of them are afraid to go on me, and i just super farm past their CS.

Psst, Madred's doesn't cost 1600 gold, that's Wriggle's. Madred's costs 700, which if it could still work on lane minions, would be the single greatest first buy if you want to power push the lane and make the enemy laner farm under tower.

Also, right now the jungler items are being used by laners as much as junglers, and in the case of Spectral Wraith, more than junglers. If you don't realize why that's a problem, you need your head checked. If our items are so good that laners use them, they nerf them, and we go back to being even more pigeonholed in our item builds, which we already are.

We really should get away from the random aspect, because people like me exist. Last time I played jungle Shaco and went for the lv6 dragon, I counted how many hits in a row I went without a Madred's proc. Twenty-one hits to be exact. 25% proc rate my ass.

Go play a game as jungle Diana, or just custom mode it and try it. It's clearly a buff to early jungle. You can almost no pot it now with standard leash.

Hey, at least Shaco has seen a fair amount of high level play before his nerfs. Start of s3 he was actually banned out because of the absurd crap he could still pull off, pretending new jungle was still s2 jungle.

I do still bad for Warwick though, currently relegated with Heimer and Galio as only really useful in Howling Abyss right now.

I tend to agree with it being a bit of a return to normalcy. Quantic barely lost to MRN during qualifiers, and coL made it into LCS by the skin of their teeth. In EU Dragonborns really didn't belong in LCS, and it was shown by the worst performance record in both regions.

LCS is still in it's infancy, hopefully minor course corrections will be made so we don't see more team disbands when they get relegated. I feel like coL and MRN could have developed into stronger teams, competing with the old kings like TSM, Dig and CLG on equal ground.
