One thing I like about items: their passives. Am I the tank and enemy Vayne is someone to be scared of? Maybe an attack speed aura debuff (frozen heart, randuin's) will help. If she dedices to attack me having 8k health and 500 armor, well, my team should use it on our favour.

On the other hand, health is always helpful imo. Yeah, %health true damage will always finish you in a certain number of autoattacks, but the more health the more you will survive other damage sources (Orianna, Lux, whatever). Again, if Vayne is getting you from 100 to 0 without punishment, then you or your team are doing something wrong.

" If the champion was lvl 6 against a team of lvl 18 champions (ignore the fact you would die to a stiff breeze) and still be useful, there is a case for them to be a good support". This definition. Completely agree. I usually tend to think of tanks like some kind of supports, just because the utility they are meant to give the team.

One question I use to ask myself concerning possible unusual supports is: "is this a team support or a lane support". The first fit the definition. The latter often rely on getting fed on lane, so the kills/assists help them cover the lack of gold they'd usually have from farming and not falling off in mid-late game.

You mentioned Cho and Singed, I would add Volibear, Amumu and Nautilus to this list. Nautilus is quite blitzcky: got grabbed, can't move and extra cc from your ult if needed. Volibear = Singed: flip and slow.

I played against a TF support a few days ago... quite surprising at first, until the moment "oh wait, he selected yellow card, what is he planning?". Considering ranged stuns, I'm more afraid of Sion or Taric, for example. Besides that, one thing I like about TF on mid is the uncertainty about "is he going top or bot" with his ult.

Looking at "Item 2"... doesn't look like a complete fair comparison to me: IE vs BT` vs BotRK + pickaxe. This pickaxe is the thing to me. Ok, 3rd option has the same +70 ad as the IE has, but then is not blade of the ruined king anymore. BotrK equals IE time not because of the item "itself", it's because you can afford another item. I think this slight difference is important.

Quick doubt: IE graph looks completely linear even on "Item 1", do I have to assume no critical hits were assumed?

(silly question) I don't really get the 6th column. Could you explain how to obtain it?

You talked about legendary armor and split pushing. What about champions who naturally buff their resistances (Leona, Taric, Singed...)?
