Forget the League system, it doesn't matter. It's just a frontend for the same matchmaking system there was before (elo). If you win more than you lose you will go up. I went to gold V with 56% win rate. The reason you are not progressing is because your win rate is near 50% or below. That's the reason. It has nothing to do with the League system, like at all. You need to win more games if you wanna rise. It's simple.

I had a Poppy on the enemy team today. She had 16 cs after around 20 minutes. That player clearly shouldn't be playing ranked anymore. The team that gets him is completely fucked.

You don't consider Garen's Courage. A smart Garen will only go in if Darius has spells on cooldown, do his combo and then retreat. I can't think of any melee champion that beats Darius' passive 1v1. Short burst damage / poke is what beats Darius, you'll lose a drawn out fight in almost any case.
