I really like running black cleaver + sword of the divine on varus against any adc with shorter range than him. If you have your sword of the divine and you catch someone out with your ultimate, because of varus's ad casterish nature and the fact that you just got 3 crits off for free (as your attack range is longer), you can often instaburst many ad carries or squishier targets. This also works if you just want to catch someone out and burst them down quickly, as even bruisers melt if you have sotd charged.

Personally, I love playing karma mid/top. IMO she's completely fine in lane, especially if you rush chalice, as cdr is one of the most important stats on her because of her decent base damages and her ultimate. The problem with karma is that she's very very team reliant for a solo laner- her trades are very very good but her cc isn't the greatest, and the cooldown on her ultimate is pretty high. tbh she's one of my favorite mid and top-lane champions and I'm really hoping that riot will relegate her to more of an ap mid than a support role, but I think they want to relegate her to support :(

while it is true leona loses to sona pre level 3, leona loses to many supports pre level 3 because she doesn't have her w ability, which is the ability which truly makes her tanky and able to jump on opponents. that just means you should play more passively on those early levels, which leona should do anyway.

The only champion that really "counters" Sona is Blitzcrank. He's pretty much the only kill lane support she realistically has trouble positioning against.
Zyra and Morgana go about even with her because they are also hard champions for Sona to be really aggressive against, especially after level 6.
what. leona is a very good aggressive support as well that when paired with a burst champion such as corki can burst pretty much any bot lane in the game at level 6. zyra support and lux support both do quite a bit of damage if you can land a snare as well. the problem with playing lux though, is that her skillshots are hard to reliably hit.
Also, I think a lot of the problem here is that kogmaw/soraka isn't a very good lane. both your early games are stupidly weak, as the cooldown on soraka's heal is simply too long to deal with sona poke. nunu/kog even has problems dealing with an ezreal/sona poke lane. I generally try to play a champion with a stronger laning phase against sona, such as mf, ezreal, caitlyn. Otherwise, remember to buy a lot of potions and get that dorans blade and vampiric scepter after your boots. Alistar support does pretty well against sona as well, because if you're playing passive because alistar's heals are even more mana efficient than sona's heals are, and offers great peel for the adc at all stages of the game.
Edit: heard from doublelift: "zyra counters sona". ^_^ there's your answer :D
