Why does everyone think they know the game best!? Well it's because they do at their Elo

Everyone in this game believes that they know best. Everyone thinks that "Well since this is what I've seen that works it must be strong" and generally when you see something that works, the general concenous is that it is indeed strong. That's not really the case with League but it kinda is at the same time because everyone has different experiences at all types of elo of whats "strong" and what's not. Everyone might like to bash 1200 elo players because they're considered "low elo" players who don't know anything but you know what the 1200 elo players do know what's best at 1200 elo because they're the ones that play in that bracket of elo. When lower elo players complain about something it's not because they're there to cause trouble and complaining for the sake of complaining. It's because these players literally have trouble countering some champions.

Riot knows this. Riot knows that there's champs like Xin Zhao who literally barely show up in higher elo let alone competitive play but they can't buff him up too much because he dominates a lot of lower elo games because of the way his kit is setup. He snowballs INCREDIBLY well and that's an issue for players who don't know how to counter champions snowballing or know how to work together as a team to stop that fed champion. You really have to look at each elo bracket 1200-1500-1700-1900 etc.. As their own meta and that's exactly what they are. People don't know what the other meta's are and like to judge, criticize, and sometimes even bash each other over what they've come to know as the truth and in reality everyone is correct in their own way.

The pro scene does not make sense to the 1200 scene because champs like Katarina and Yi will steamroll that elo but don't stand much of a chance the higher elo you go. It's just an elo thing and at all types of elo there's different meta's for that elo so the people claiming that others are wrong are often just talking about their personal experiences and that's at whatever elo they're currently sitting at which gives them their opinion and out look at League of Legends.

The cool thing about League of Legends is actually how many "metas" we really have. From all over the world champions like Singed, Ezreal, and Annie are very popular in China, while Skarner, Hecarim, and Nocturne are very popular in Korea. Those area's have different Meta's for what the most popular bans are for them. Is one meta wrong just because we in NA use differently then what the European players and the Asian players use? Not at all. It's just our own personal experience of what players we have in our respected area's had great success with. I mean really just think about it. If someone was playing X champion all the time and was doing good on it in NA. Then some other players copied that player playing X champion and they had success with it. It just trickles down to other players and other elo's throughout the area that they reside and that's really how meta's are born. It's born from players personal experiences and what others take from it.

So in reality everyone is right to some extent about what's good and what's bad. I find this quote pretty much sums up what I am trying to say. "The world doesn't beat to the sound of just one drum. What might be right you you, might not be right for some." and as cliche as it might be it fits EXACTLY how meta's are made and how the game works. No meta is the same, no meta stays the same, it's always changing, and it always will as long as Riot updates the game and even then if the game stopped getting updated we would still see changes in this game for years to come because it's what players make of the game which makes popular choices for others to play and ultimately decides what's good and what's bad.

I understand the whole post, but when i join my "lower bracket friends normal elo" and i see a jungler start  blue and not wolves and tells me x champ is a slow jungler. idk i feel i have a right to help give advice since i have more game knowledge of they do.

I think there's a lot more to do with the "work as a team" bit when it comes to knowing how to play. It's part of why I enjoy spectating/watching streams a lot more than I do actually playing the game. People seem to throw out the insults way before contemplating constructive suggestions. "They're building tons of X, so we need you to build Y so you don't melt as fast." That's the kind of thing I'd like to see more of. Instead, we get a lot of people who spend time arguing. I digress, but...

I agree for the most part that people know what works best at their bracket range, but it also helps that people watch higher elo play. Actually being able to see how some things work is nice, but it's also nice to see those who are willing to try something different.

Well, I'd like to say that in Euw we have basically the same meta than in NA.
Basically because most of us watch streams and speak english fluently, we really get "inspired".

Then, I don't agree neither on the different meta according to the elo. That's totally non-sense ^^
I went up to 1500ish back to 1200ish elo 8 times in 800 ranked games (for no apparent reason), and there was almost no difference in bans, picks, and builds, between those different brackets, and several known streams.
Telling that, for instance, Katarina and Leblanc are often picked in lower elo because it's easy to stomp noobs with, is totally wrong. Loads of people, including I, tried loads of chars that were Fotm, and basically that doesn't change much the results of the games. And high elo players also go for those chars almost as frequently.
IMO, the differences between 1200, 1500, 1800 and higher, in bans, picks and item builds are almost the same. You want the proof? Just launch a ranked game at low elo, and people will discuss picks and bans as seriously as at 2k8 elo. They know matchups, or if they don't know, they check on lolpro or lolcounters. They go and check your summoner's profile to see what they might want you to play for the win.

Well said sir. I think Elementz did not do his research for the post and just posted what was true like a year ago.

The difference in my opinion is mostly team coordination and lane control. People just don't go for objectives as often as they should be, know when to force fights or how to balance their lane. I've seen loads of people last hit really well at both 1000 and 1400, and there's some really good AD Carries who know their stuff. I have to say I've seen Trinity rush Kog'Maw more than I should have when I dropped some. :P

that is simply not true. A lot of people right now watch many pro streamers and see what works and doesnt work at high elo and learn from it.

Many from the community at 'low elo' talked about shyvanna being damn strong and it took m5 to show her strengths.

In your 1st installment of bruiser list a couple of low elo guys talked about how you have jax too low and bam next month Jax super OP until Malph comes along.

Same list I think people talked about GP being damn weak and now we dont see him anywhere.

Yes sometimes elo does come into picture. But elo sometimes has nothing to do with understanding of the game. A knowledgeable person will be stuck in low elo because his mechanical skills like positioning/ last hitting is not that good. But that doesnt mean he doesnt understand lane matchups/influence of junglers in various stages of the game or even understanding the different team comps/matchups.

I agree with this a lot.  I might not be a genius with this game, but I do know what works best for me.  Sure you might build your guy a little differently than I do, but I build in a way that makes me comfortable and I feel increases my chances of winning.  Now if only people could hold the asshole comments in-game til after the game.  lol.  Im much more willing to listen when Im not busy trying to gank, dive, or run away or something else.
