League of Legends Champions Retrospective

Riot has posted a great video on YouTube today taking a retrospective look on the history of Champions.

Between a Sad Mummy, a Madman of Zaun, a Blind Monk, a Nine-Tailed Fox and a Dark Child, the League of Legends has seen the introduction of some crazy, unconventional, and downright badass characters over the years.

Creating compelling champions is our passion, and a great deal of care and effort goes into handcrafting every one of them. Your passion fuels our own, and we learn a lot from your forum discussions and heated battles on the Fields of Justice. In this Retrospective, our co-founders, Brandon “Ryze” Beck and Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill team up with some of the Rioters behind the champions to give you a taste of the “secret sauce” that makes a League of Legends champ.

More of today's news after the break!

Interview with Lead Designer Ryan Scott posted a great interview with lead designer Ryan Scott. This covers some amazing information on Season 3, hints at new champions, chats about how fast they are putting out champions, and much much more!

Free Skins at Gamescom

Full metal Rammus and Riot Graves are both free at this years Gamescom! Fear not, if you want either one of these great skins, you will be able to pick them up on the LoL Store starting today!

If you’re planning on paying us a visit at Gamescom this year, you’ve undoubtedly got a lot of reasons to be excited. Between hands-on time with some upcoming champions and witnessing the European Regionals, there’s a lot to take in at the Riot Games booth.

Just in case you weren’t excited enough, we’ve also got some extra swag waiting for you in Cologne. If you ever hoped to roll out a more industrial look for your Armordillo, then you’ll be pleased to know that Full Metal Rammus is sporting mechanized animations and a new model, along with sound and spell effects befitting his mechanical new look. This new Rammus skin will be available free to anyone who pays a visit to the Riot Games booth.

In addition to Rammus, we’re also giving out a brand new Riot event skin. Riot K-9 Nasus will be retiring from the force to make room for a riotous new Graves. Decked out head-to-toe in riot control gear and sporting a new dash animation on Quick Draw, this new take on your favorite Outlaw is sure to have you locked and loaded!

If you can’t make it to Gamescom, but still want to get your champions into these new skins, they’ll both be available in the League of Legends Store once the show begins on August 16th. Once the event’s over on August 19th Riot Graves will going into the Legacy Skins Vault until the next major Riot event!
