Final Champion of the Year - Vi, the Piltover Enforcer
It looks like the last champion of this year will be hitting PBE tonight. Keep an eye on RoG for videos and information tonight!
Greetings PBE Summoners,
I am happy to announce that our final champion of the year is now (or soon will be) available for testing on the PBE.
Allow me to introduce Vi, the Piltover Enforcer. Imagine two giant hextech gauntlets. Now imagine a total badass who loves using those gauntlets to hit things. Hard. That's Vi in a nutshell.
Have you ever wished you could punch an enemy with such an impact that you hit the enemies behind it? If your answer is yes, you may enjoy playing Vi.
Have you ever had the desire to wind up a punch powerful enough to carry you across the battlefield, clocking anyone unlucky enough to get in your way? If your answer is yes, you may enjoy playing Vi.
Have you ever wanted to indiscriminately bowl through an enemy team, wiping the smirk off that AD carry's face as you slam it into the ground? If your answer is yes, well, you get the idea.
Vi is all about powerful punches. She's a high mobility high damage bruiser who picks a target, launches herself into the fray, and makes that target deal with her. So what are you waiting for? Go try her out. I'd love to hear your feedback. Best of luck on the Fields of Justice!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have three major things I'm looking for feedback on:
A) Is Vi fun to play against and play as?
- Is this a champion you enjoy playing? Is this a champion that you are okay having on the opposing team? Do you feel there are ample opportunities for counterplay? What aspects of her are frustrating? What aspects are really cool?
B) Does Vi feel right when you play her?
-Are her punches too sluggish? Too fast? What are you building? Does it feel good on her? Should it feel good on her? Are you hitting skills when you expect to hit them? Do her animations and particles look right? How are her sounds? Is she too loud? Too quiet? etc.
C) Is Vi someone you feel is worth bringing to a team?
Assuming she eventually hits a "balanced" state, when you see someone on your team pick her are you going to feel good about it? Why or why not?
If you have any feedback that doesn't fall under one of the above topics I'd still love to hear it.
If you find a bug don't post it here!
There's another thread for that: "placeholder"

Posted 12/7/2012 7:56:29 PMFor one, she's female. A girl with gauntlets. A violence-addicted girl with gauntlets, who beats up people because she has the gauntlets.
Riot wanted a skinny character with huge gauntlets. Agreed. But not a girl. Riven was enough, and the giant sword isn't so absurd. >_> but this... :( it just feels wrong.
about her numbers now, she's got so many offensive and defensive aspects that she cannot be countered by any existing solo top. She's got a shield to protect herself, she shreds armor, gains bonus AS, has a high scaling % passive ability and three AoE skills (Q, E and R) that out-scale many AD Ultimates. Not even basic spells.

Posted 12/8/2012 9:40:57 AMRiot has followed the stereotype so far, however, and such a dramatic change stands out too much. Does it feel good for you, having Vi deliver huge punches and crush you hike you're playing Darius or Pantheon?
If Riot had been following the MMORPG logic from the start (boys and girls can be everything, from supports to bruisers) it would be okay for me. But they can't give females magic power and dexterity, give males physical strength and sometimes powerful magic, and suddenly "hello, im a tomboy that will beat down your male champion to humiliation."
since riot has followed a certain gender pattern so far (as to what can each gender do), they should stick to it. Riven is an exception, but still she remains on the female side, just as Ez, Varus, Taric, Jayce etc (several male mages as well, but here I'm talking about champs that display some physical strength, since magic doesn't require that), are less "manly" and "brutal" than usual, but they still are definitely boys.
i made a thread about this in the forums, take a look. :)

Posted 12/8/2012 9:45:29 AMone model without change is certainly a way to stagnate the world from a visual and design perspective, those gauntlets are more than hunks of metal is magical technology (hextek) not a good enouph explanation (its science AND magic most stories get buy with just one)? a small thing putting out alot of force IS interesting its empowering.
poppy can push around chogath, tristana's gun is the size of her, and fires a shell that also pushes back chogath, leona's sheild is huge i think your seeing only what you wish to see the fight against "frail characters being brutish powerhouses" has already happened many times you just havent noticed until now.
being a tomboy that displays physical strength is consistent even in your own contrived view of what should or should not fit visually, "being a bruiser should be manyly" she is a tomboy by definition a woman with an appreciation for a manly lifestyle.
you are obviously deeply offended by this, you made a brand new account on rog and posted on the officiaal forums, what is it about this perceived change that strikes you so much. (i say "perceived" because shell be the 4th physicaly empowered female brute in the game)

Posted 12/8/2012 3:19:47 PMSo from what I gather is that you guys who hate the idea of a woman being a brawler feel sexually threatened by this change? You specifically use the term "beat down your male champion to humiliation," which is kind of telling, because guess what, there are physically strong women out there.
What's wrong with a woman who likes to punch things and beat things up? Gameguy is right, not only is this a common trope in television and fiction, and it's incredibly sexist of you to say that Riot defined the roles as "girls are delicate flowers that must be protected and win through wits while men are frontline fighters and that's all they can do." (Note how you use man and girl, instead of the opposite-sex equivalent of woman). I also notice how you say women get magic power and dexterity, and then men get physical power, oh and then sometimes even more magic power than women have.
Sejuani - Tank. Bloodthirsty, frontline tank.
Fiora - If Taric, Jayce, and Ezreal require some amount of physical strength, then so does Fiora. You ever practice swordplay? It takes quite a bit of power.
Irelia - Almost killed commanding a last stand. Master of a physical martial art.
Poppy - Diplomacy at the end of a mace. This yordle is most comfortable in the mix of things.
Riven - Quickly rose up the ranks of Noxian army because of her strength. Physically, she's a monster in terms of strength.
Shyvana - Half-dragon. Kinda low on the dexterity. She's fast, in-your-face and hits hard. Her resource is FURY.
Varus - Dexterity based champion. Physically frail. Magical blight powers give him the edge he needs.
Twisted Fate - Skill and sleight of hand (dexterity) are his weapons. He's not physically strong at all.
Ryze - Magic, personified. he's magic power personified, and I'd argue that a combo mage is someone with a high amount of skill rather than brute physical strength.
Teemo - Teemo
Heimerdinger - Neither dexterity, nor magic power, nor physical strength. He relies on TECHNOLOGY.
Fizz - Relies on trickery and alacrity moreso than physical strength.
Brand - Made of magic. No physical or dexterous attributes.
Do I need to add more?

Posted 12/8/2012 5:04:48 PMStill, Senuani doesn't behave the way Vi does.
yordles don't count as humans, really. Poppy does show a great a mount of physical strength. But not in such an offensive way. Irelia doesn't even touch her blade, therefore she's classified as a magic using champion.
Riven is an exception and I think I mentioned her. Her full armor must've been something like nautilus's one. And despite the fact Shyvana is a warrior that turns into a dragon, she's a skinny thing under the armor.
Varus is a bowman. if swordplay takes strength, so does bending a compound bow. Also, don't overlook the fact that even the males that are mages - the ones that don't need physical strength - are muscular, (Ryze, brand, Malzahar) whereas even the "strong" girls are always skinny (look at your own examples), and very few of them actually use physical strength.
So now we will have a new girl, that, ignoring Riot's "policy" about gender roles, will beat down Jayce and Darius with her gauntlets? It just feels wrong to me.

Posted 12/8/2012 5:25:23 PMWhat? No. When the hell don't yordles count as "human" for the purposes of personality? They're essentially furry, short, people and are otherwise COMPLTETY personified as human.
In addition, your argument is basically trying to get off on a bunch of technicalities. So what if women are skinny? It doesn't mean they're NOT STRONG. So what if men are muscular. It doesn't mean they are physically STRONG. Vi is not muscular. Vi is STRONG. Oh, and if bending a bow means strength, I submit Ashe as evidence. And Sivir THROWS a blade at people, so that takes strength too.
Further, history isn't policy. Riot hasn't set in stone gender roles or who gets to be what. That's a draconian view of the world, and downright offensive to me. To assume so is just.... fucking stupid.
What I'm saying is that your idea that women must participate in the "fairer" roles is not only outdated but offensive.

Posted 12/7/2012 10:33:51 PMToo bad I don't see any beard here. Nor bacon. A buff may solve this.
Mongol General: Conan! What is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women.
Mongol General: That is good! That is good.

Posted 12/7/2012 7:00:18 AMEh, it could be a LOT worse. It could have a 4 second cooldown (it has a longer charge time since technically she can chain it), no mana cost, be immune to silence, deal true damage, and have a much larger range :P
In other news, is that Jennifer Hale doing the voicework for Vi? Also I find her endearingly hilarious.
