Unofficial PBE Patch Notes for 1/23/2013 - Steel Legion Lux Splash

IMPORTANT

This is a WIP POST (Don't forget to check out Thresh's amazing new login screen and music)

  • This is PBE. This is where riot tries out various numbers to test and play with. This does not mean it will go live like this!
  • The following is datamined from the TOOLTIPS, this means any changes, are changes made to the tooltips and may not reflect abilities that have values that don't match their tooltips
  • -Riot may not always fully update a tooltip, PLEASE do not rage about changes, take these as a basic idea of what to go test on the PBE!

QUICK NOTE:
Range is missing until game client same with AP and AD ratios, as long as you see this text, game client has not been uploaded.
Also keep in mind, there was no game client (once again) with this patch. The following is currently only in the air client, you will not see these changes while playing a game until the game client is patched! Keep in mind this is riot playing with numbers on the PBE, NO QQ!

Olaf picks up the axe,the ability's cooldown is reduced by 4.5 seconds.

Dat riot Galio is already weak, soon will be happens to him the same thing as with Heimerdinger... why they nerfing him... why not nerf something what is really op?? they nerf him because some idiots on mid cant pick aganist him Zed, Kha'zix especially Talon they counters him hard, and then cry that is op because they cant kill him as any ap carry... if it will be look like this Galio will be useless soon

    well, goodbye olaf. Now you can't stick to anyone, and you don't get passive armorpen anymore.

    I mean, he certainly deserved these nerfs. With a negative win rate in ranked, and in the most recent tournament as well. The handful of professional top laners from Korea who have a lot of success playing Olaf need to be put in their place.

    I could say "read it again" but i fear you still wouldn't get it. It's only the changes on the PBE. Last month they changed Amumu's Ultimate to a Root instead of a Stun. It probably won't go live like this

    True, there is a chance that the changes wont go live, but most changes that they make on the PBE end up going live in some form or another.

    Riot has clearly signaled that they don't like Olaf's power level (which is quite frankly exaggerated), and he's not going to leave the PBE untouched.

    Why not just nerf vicious strikes hp scaling? Olaf rushes warmog and randuins for huge globs of HP it's obvious he's a using vicious strikes %HP = AD conversion to handle all his damage why nerf the utility of undertow like that?

    Yeah I'm kinda disappointed about the Undertow nerf too... I guess it's just because he can basically refresh the ability non-stop picking the axe while chasing targets.

    Unrelated to Olaf: Spirit of the Spectral Wraith is still nice but he's getting very cost-effective.

    Yi... buffs? I don't even: he is near irrelevant in tournament play, totally binary by core design and has no options for counterplay in lane or teamfights. I'd sooner he was deleted than buffed.

    They love to curbstomp champs that aren't OP but do have massive snowball potential, and just kill snowballing generally. Longterm this just makes the game more boring: you're playing a lane and win or lose you are gonna be ok from passive gold and the opponent being denied a risky snowball champ cos they're all nerfed. You can't lose too hard: riot nerfed zoning, You get counterjungled but it's ok they made madreds cheaper and gave you loads of passive gold and exp, they even killed the possibility for the enemy jungler to get oracles and take a further risk to dominate so there are almost no consequences.

    Ultimately they're trading the fun, risky, dominate or get crushed side of the game for a sort of security that some other lane isn't going to get out of control, but who wants to play a game where you spend 20 minutes in lane and you don't have an opportunity to get that much of an advantage.

    It also makes a problem with elo much worse: the phenomenon that it's much easier to lose because 1 guy is performing below the game average level than win because another is performing above. This might not an obvious consequence but it's because it is much easier to gain a gold advantage if you're a good player in laning stage than it is to have an impact in teamfights, because lategame teamfights you need all 5 people to be switched on: your superior play as support isn't going to compensate for the guy afk farming top lane or someone initiating 4 into 5 etc. If you can't gain an advantage in lane phase you're just playing lets see which team has the guy who doesn't know what to do lategame.

    This may have been a rant.

    He wasn't buffed. He was nerfed and then this PBE patch tones down the nerf by bringing up the AP ratio from 1.2 to 2 and then buffering the flats because it no longer scales outrageously with AP. His live client meditate heals for 130-700 but has a 4:1 AP ratio.
