Unofficial PBE Patch Notes for 5/21/2013 - Sona Changes

PBE 3.8 Patch 3

It looks like the changes for sona we first saw riot talking about here have reached the PBE.
Both Ghost Bridge Morgana and Woad King Darius are now live on the PBE for 975 RP.

Ghost Bride Morgana

Some new voice files (attack and move) were added for this skin. HOWEVER, as of this time, they are 100% the exact same as her base model.


Champion Changes

Sona

Don't forget to see Riots post looking for Sona feedback.

  • Base health increased to 380 (up from 340)
  • Base armor increased to 8 (up from 6)
  • [W] - Aria of Perseverance - Persistent aura now grans 6/7/8/9/10 bonus Armor (Changed from 3/6/9/12/15)
  • [W] - Aria of Perseverance - Activation now grans 6/7/8/9/10 additional AR and MR (down from 8/11/14/17/20)

Sejuani

  • [W] - Flail of the Northern Winds - Now deals 12% bonus HP (down from 16%)

    Wowwww, that there's some harsh Sona nerfs. Base armour and HP are nice, but that is a huge chunk of her W to take away. And for what? So that she can be slightly tougher (but still squishy as hell) at level 2?

    Mathematically, Sona's W is stronger earlygame.  It's really only a nerf lategame.

    On W lvl1: used to be 11->3, now it is 12->6.

    On W lvl5: used to be 35->15, now it is 20->10.

    So, new buffed on early is +1 [compared to old one], persistent (without buff) is +3. It's very little if we notice that lategame W is -15 with buffed and -5 unbuffed. While +1/+3 is hard to notice (unless u take no armor runes, but u will die really fast then even with that buff), -15 is really painful. W changes are straight nerf.

    This changes almost nothing ultimately, given the standard rune setup for Sona is straight durability anyway.  And no, Sona is actually very difficult to kill in lane.  If you have a problem, I suggest learning how to position better.

    Jesus christ. Way to overreact to Sej nerf.

    She has way too much damage against people when she already has perma CC everywhere.

    Since she has no bonus health early this will make almost no difference to her early game. Also if you're focusing W after the Remake you're doing it wrong since the damage you get from it is almost nothing (60 damage over 4 seconds? really?). Focus Permafrost for pore power in ganks and then Q for mobility and enemy %HP damage.

    The damage you get from W is almost nothing. so nerf it why? this nerf cuts into her mid/late game transition where the new kit was already weak. If a jungler cant transition, they are not very useful, if you want a cc machine Moa, Nuat, & Ali completely eclipse Sej.

    The new kit was already doing much less damage than the old kit

    Yet it is much more reliable and easy to use the damage you have now compared to the damage you had before.

    You'd have tons of damage but die or get kited way too easily with the old kit, now you have better ways to CC and apply frost and permafrost on multiple targets. The damage nerf is almost nothing and it's better to nerf this than to nerf more her CC which is why you wanted to get Sej in the first place. Moa Naut and Ali are better for CC one target, but the AoE damage and AoE CC from Sej is still better.

    if they are kiting sej, they are not dpsing the team = the tanks job is done.

    either way my "damage dealt to champions" is consistently lower now

    Wow never thought id see Sona buffs.
    They nerfed her late game a little but her early game was buffed quite a bit.

    RIP sej early game dominance in Lane.

    She is destroyed - from one that able to lane into shit that only belong/accel in jungle.

    Well done , nt really agree with some ppl on wierd board abt riot bad decision. now i see how bad it is.

    I don't really understand the goal of the Sej and Naut nerfs. I thought Riot was going to prioritize professional game balance over just pure solo que win ratio.

    Personally me, I'd prefer Nautilus be nerfed out of the game.  There's inherently a huge lack of counterplay to a good Nautlius initiation.  Nautilus actually being good enough to justify putting on a team makes the game worse.

    I agree with you that nautilus is a huge pain int he ass, however i wouldnt jump to this concclusion too quickly because of the madreds buff and the recent jungle nunu consume buffs. I think some old junglers like Shyv will start to resurface and counter jungling will be back.

    Personally me, I'd prefer Zed be nerfed out of the game.  There's inherently a huge lack of counterplay to a good Zed assassination. Zed actually being good enough to justify putting on a team makes the game worse.
