Ability Changes

Note: The changes you see below came with an Air Client Patch only. In-game Rengar's Q for example still says '6 seconds', not '2'.

Rengar

  • Savagery [ Q ] - Increases the damage of the next basic attack that comes within 2 seconds (down from 6 seconds compared to last PBE patch)

Talon

  • Cutthroat [ E ] - Talon now teleports to the far side of his target (changed from "instantly appears behind his target")

    I can't tell but is this a change to Talon's mechanics? Or is it just a wording change?

    I went on pbe and tested it, didn't notice a difference but maybe they are still working on it.

    I saw a post on reddit that in the live version of talon he didn't appear behind his target but inside of it. I don't know if this is true or not but if it is then this is probably changing that. It would make it easier to get off a w straight away if this is true.

    Yeah definitely, you lose 1-3 seconds of your burst with his current E.

    Does it stop the triple q rengar combo? Im not familiar enough to know it if does or not.

    Pretty much. When I tested on pbe I noticed that your q goes on cool down after using the ferocity version.

    How do you mean just tanks? Just because mundo, nasus, renekton and shyvana are popular atm?

    The best winrate top champion is still Amumu who builds more AD than tankiness. Riven hasn't been nerfed yet so she's stil extremely fierce.

    Teemo is also one of the strongest top laners atm and I doubt that most people play him as a tank (Although it's hidden OP because of his global passive).

    DId you just say Amumu builds AD?... over Tank?.... In the top lane?  Dam have I been playing wrong.

    For several reasons :

    a) the lane is long and often with the least "action" from your team (roaming off midlaners/junglers). Thus being sustained and able to absorb damage is an advantage over least sustained/squishier because u are less likely to fall behind after a gank or death or w/e (you can still farm a bit for instance). When it's almost impossible to do when you face a fed syndra as a squishy ap carry or when an annie/sivir is snowballing bot (but there, you can send 4 people to change the tides and help ur team).

    b) midlane is about burst. adc and support are now too about "burst" (differently but way more than in s3). The jungler is thus more often a burster nowadays, rather than a supportive tank like before (junglers should rather assassinate targets nowadays instead of sponging damage for his team like before). So a lot of the "tanking" got into the hands of the toplaner, so when midgame ends, a farmed tank can siege towers and sponge damage.

    c) u can play squishies on the toplane. Like Riven or whatever. But they gotta be hella broken, and you'd be better off having a tank support and jungler.

    d) trends to the "uber sustain" builds (like lifesteal quints, two dorans blade + 1 shield, botrk spirit visage, ... 21 def masteries) because players discover how great they synergize, and because the defensive tree gave an uber %hp stat (which helps mostly "tanks" that had a sustain problem before).

    See, because it's the most lonely lane (post six), toplane is the lane where we traditionnally put what we call the "bruisers". Aka (mostly) melee champions that have totally broken stats and ratios, because they are melee. If you put some squishies top, you might have advantages at one point and chances of snowballing (depends on the matchup), but it's like there is a clock on the head of bruisers, and the later the game lasts, the stronger they are 1v1. Actually, bruisers are "always" stronger 1v1, at the condition they don't take harass before fighting, and they can reach melee fight (with dashes/move speed bonus). Which means that even if you play a squishy top that gets 3/0 after 10 mins because your jungler ganked for instance, odds are the bruiser can still 1v1 you.

    Also another traditionnal role of toplane, is to take the aggro, because he just wants to keep on pushing till the inhibitor is taken. For this role, you are better off having huge advantages in mobility, tankiness and damage output, that are mostly found on "tanks/bruisers".

    TL;DR :
    a) toplane is the most lonely lane. Thus chars stronger 1v1 are ... stronger there.
    b) toplane now has to take in charge way more the "tank" role (when before it was more evenly split with the jungler and supp)
    c) we have access to an itemisation/runing/masteries that helps "tanks/bruisers" to get sustain.

    Nooo assassin rengo nerf.

    This will hurt assassin rengar a lot more than tankgar since assassin rengar desperately needs to be able to kill his enemy fast. This pretty much takes 100% AD plus ~150 damage off of his lategame burst, which is quite a lot to lose considering that rengar usually dies right after he kills someone. If he can't burst people, what can he do?

    Tankgar will still be op and destroy people in lane. He doesn't need to instagib people in teamfights like assassin rengar to function properly.

    Not absolutely.

    I happen to play Rengar a lot, and in most of my games I end up not using the triple Q glitch.
    The problems with triple Q are :
    a) it forces you to reveal yourself in between 4 and 6 seconds after you ultied, you sometimes want a better window, and, no pressure
    b) against mobile champions (or good nerves ennemies) it's pretty difficult to even land two Q in a row
    c) when you fail ur triple Q, you can end up doing only one Q instead of two or three.

    Also, when you got yourself bruta lw hydra and elder lizard (I jungle rengar mostly), there is almost no carry that can survive a "normal" combo, anyway. And if they do (through an high hp item), then you should wait a good opportunity (lower hp, cds gone ...) to go in.

    You do have a point. It's merely a nerf to his ideal situation, not necessarily all situations. However, I think this change hurts glass cannon rengar a lot more than tank rengar despite tank rengar being the bigger problem in terms of overpowering everyone in lane.
