Meddler on New Champion Releases

Is it going to be this much delay between each from now on? This is even slower than last year. It was like 2-3 months between Rek and Bard and that doesn't seem to be changing with whoever is next.
It's very likely that, as per last year, there'll be some variance in the time between champion releases, with some shorter gaps between champions too.
URF Sails Off With Party IP In Its Wake

We’re grateful for everyone who participated in URF mode, from the oldest League vets to the newest players just getting started during these wild two weekends. As another thank you for playing along with our joke and cannon-balling back into the ultra-rapid waters, we’re hosting a Party IP Weekend from April 17th at 12:01 AM PDT to April 19th at 11:59 PM PDT. Team up with your friends and earn guaranteed bonus IP when you play matchmade games. The more friends you queue with, the more bonus IP you earn. Here’s the chart:
# of players in pre-made Bonus IP earned 2 100% 3 150% 4 200% 5 300%
But that does mean this is the end of URF for now; the manatee is swimming home to the Featured Game Mode team’s lab, and we’ll dive into all of the feedback you’ve given us over the last fourteen days.
We know, we know. It’s too soon. It just came back. But the ultra-rapid awesomeness is best savored in small servings. The original run of URF taught us a fantastic lesson about the novelty of game modes over time and the cost of ongoing maintenance. Featured Gameplay Modes taper off in popularity sharply after a short period of time.
Despite breaking our golden rule of not touching Featured Gameplay Modes post-launch, our on-the-run tweaks to keep URF treading water balance-wise the first time around still saw the same declining engagement and burnout. That doesn’t mean players don’t have a blast before they fade away. However, being designed as a can of whoop-ass in the first place ultimately means that the flame burns twice as bright and half as long.
Thanks again for sharing this years’ April Fools event with us, and we’ll see you on the battlefield!

Bard Buffs, State of Nasus and Mordekaiser W Change

We're planning on testing Chimes giving more XP based off game time this week, along with a couple of other small Bard buffs (an adjustment so Chimes don't spawn deep in the enemy jungle in the first 5 minutes and a slight increases to the speed/range of Q). We're keeping buff testing light on him for a little bit since we're still assessing the impact of the 5.7 changes. He's definitely in a significantly better spot, and probably still has some untapped performance, but's probably still on the weak side too.

But he does so as an extremely immobile champion, who, even with an incredibly stacked Q can be kited by a team with at least a bit of crowd control. That creates a bunch of interesting play around shutting him down, versus, as Nasus/his allies, trying to find ways to get him face time on a target. It also means that, unlike some other immobile fighters, he's got a clear purpose late game. If you can get him onto a tower, or a squishy target, it'll pay dividends, so is well worth coordinating around.
Possible we might tweak a couple of things at some point (ranges or passive amount for example), no immediate plans to do so. It's also worth noting the current meta should be pretty favorable to Nasus (longer fights, some other top laners that also want to farm a lot) which probably gives him a bit of a boost right now.

Have you guys considered allowing Galio's W to work like Morde/Nunu W? Casts it on self if he casts it on an Ally. Same with Annie's Molten Shield too. Possibly even Kayle's W/R.
I'd expect we'd need to cut significant power from those champions somewhere if making those effects self+ally, Kayle's ult especially. In Morde's case we felt it was the appropriate call, given we wanted to add some power to him and he offered no team utility at all outside of his ghost. Those three are in reasonable (or reasonable ish at least) spots balance wise by contrast and bring significant utility already.

Releasing new champs keeps the game fresh, releasing new champs with overloaded kits however stagnates the game even further, why should we be thinking every new champion relased here onwards should be viable competitively for solo que? This game has gone on for years with certain champions remaining in an underwhelming state but it doesn't mean people haven't played or mained those champions and had fun along the way.
Emphasis should be on whats creative and fun sometimes aswell as what is missing from the game not just how much mobility/cc and % hp damage can we cram onto a champion. That was why I found release bard actually really refreshing and have had fun with him and hope for more interesting utility to be introduced later on in different forms.
Hmm they have definitely slowed down a bit in champ releases again. I'm pretty sure Bard has been the only champ released so far this season.
I prefer this way more than the two weeks until champion times which left us with toxic kits as Lee Sin, Irelia and LeBlanc.
I think Rengar/Syndra/Kha'zix are a better example
Rengar was always a problem, Khazix was not a problem until they changed him over and over INTO a problem. And Syndra feels like a more fair version of LeBlanc.
Just fuck LeBlanc with her no CD ult and Ijumpinandkillyouevery15secondsandevenwhenIfailIcanalwaysjumpbackfornoconsequences...
So funny how LB become "hur dur toxic" after a years of "trollpick". Even more funny to read it from someone with Susan on his avatar.
Nasus is totally fine as we learned from Riot and they are happy with him and his role in the game, so you have no reason to complain.
LB on the other side lacks serious counterplay as she does not have to commit to an assassination attempt to the full. The moment the player notices that its bad to continue, jump back with W and you're safe. You can only block her when you manage to predict an incoming distortion with a targeted stun like Cass' R. And even if you saved your mate from dying by shields or you flashed away, then LB just needs to wait 24 secs (-CDR) to be ready to try to kill you again. At least Zed's Death Mark has a meaningful CD.
IMO an assassin is allowed to have either high damage or safety, not both. As Nasus I have to fully commit when I am diving in and trying to rip the enemy apart.
LeBanc has been largely rectified by removal of silence. Syndra is incomparably less mobile than LB. I agree on Kha'zix though, and am baffled by the whole process. I guess they took his quote waaaay to seriously.
THIS ^
Idk why that guy is wondering about new champ releases. Honestly, i'd rather see riot fix up old champs rather than introduce new ones. As you introduce new champs the older ones become obsolete, so reworking oldies as to ensure the power creep doesn't get out of hand seems like the most logical, and best thing to do for the game and its players.
but..... new mechanics :(
Rework Sion has lots of new mechanics compared with PtC Stun and "More Atkspd, more LS" Ult.
Well I guess Riot just keeps on buffing Bard...
Also yay for Arctic Ops Varus being on sale <3
ikr, Arctice Ops Varus is so neat... but I also already have Arclight and Heartseeker, and I don't even play him that much... :<
It still makes me happy tho, since I'm waiting on Arcade MF, and she was released a few months after Arctic Ops Varus~
also YAY ROG RED TRACKER IS BACK~~
(Wanted to say that somewhere and may as well do it here)
Do you not think he needs it? Wasn't sure based on your response.
Idk. I personally think he needs something done to him. I love him but he falls so short in game. If you don't have a good early game you can't get to his good late game.
I think the points he made are where he needs it. His XP per chime, range on Q (vs a morg bottom her Q is beyond longer). I personally think they need to rebuff his range. 100 I get was too much, but at least try 50.
Hopefully they will release some info on new champion soon.
Bard becoming OP in 1... 2... 3...
your counting up? like what, forever?
That's the joke...
That wasn't a joke actually. It's common misconception that he sucks, we already had that many times - Yasuo, Azir, Lucian, Gnar, Vel'koz (who's still barely played).
