Well, I've mentioned it a couple of times, the Ezreal buffs that I talked about previously have been put on hold. Basically the champion is doing well, especially in our eastern markets (I've even heard him called the Terror of the East...which is such a cool nickname!). I still hope to see them come down the line some day, but he just isn't a high priority change right now for the live team.

Maybe, but it would be more frustrating / weird looking than anything else. The champion would stutter far too much, and it would be pretty crazy go nuts in team fights. Not to mention it would completely shut down champions like Evelyn.

Just a quick question
are u planning to make another champs like Ez and Ahri whos pretty much all skill shot based?
Coz i cant wait for them <3
More of our champions are moving towards skill shots, even if their entire kit is not composed of solely skill shots. In fact, I think my next champion should have at least 3 skill shots =-D.

They have moved towards higher priority updates that will hit more players. We want to make sure we give the community the highest quality work, even if it takes a bit of extra time. For example, we really want to create a solid IP for LoL, so we want to go back and fill in the gaps.

Hmmm, I don't remember saying that his ult was anti fun, just that it wasn't fun.
Unfortunately we put Heimer on the back burner for now since we wanted the illustrious Feral Pony to work on a brand new champion!!! Once he is done I'm sure he'll go back to Heimer, or potentially pass it on to another live designer.

Though a real ARAM queue would be nice as well, using the map. Just custom games would be fine.
Could even give it dominion level passive gold income/exp generation, to speed it up a bit. I mean, people have been playing ARAB (all random all bot) in dominion lately, and that works great.
We considered that for awhile, but opted not to. Basically, if we were to create a new game mode, we would want to make sure that it is 100% quality. Simply retrofitting an old map to just work wouldn't hit our standards. I hope we go down this path and make new maps for awesome mods like this some day, but currently we have no plans for this.
PS. ARAB is amazing!!!

Hmmm, you would be surprised at how close that concept comes to something we want to create in the pipeline. Suffice to say, dual wielding = cool, claw users = cool, awesome capes / scarfs = pretty cool. Hope that brightens your day.

It's a basic spell with a lengthened cast time. Other spells work in the same way, but you don't notice since they have a relatively short cast time. I can understand your pain as that sounds pretty buggy feeling. But I would counter that it would feel twice as bad for the Ezreal and Caitlyn.

thx again
edit: who made ahri ? i love her
We've considered that in the past for champions like Nunu and Katarina. Unfortunately, while that would give her a fighting chance to get her ult off in a team fight, it would make it incredibly harder to counter in a 1v1 scenario. So while it helps in one way, we feel that it hurts far more in others. Additionally, it doesn't really fit the theme of the character.

So about the champion ezreal, you've said that you are content with his power level, and so I have a few questions about his scaling and how you view it.
1) we all know he has an amazing early game, but his mystic shots, with a tri force, have a base of about 265 and a 1.0 ad ratio. So if you had 300 ad, it would hit about 565 as base. But a normal attack that crits would hit about 750 base. How do you scale him into late game so that it compares to other carrys?
2)Is it possible to remove the item proc on trinity force and allow it to crit, making it scale better and reducing his early game?
3)Some people say he fits more into an ad caster, but tri force and infinity edge give like a 40% crit rate alone. If hes meant to be an ad caster, how come its almost impossible to stack ad alone vs stacking ad and crit, lifesteal, etc?
4) Is it supposed to be that he drops off late game? He can still do good damage, but in comparison to other carrys, is he supposed to not hit as much?
5)You said "And I'm looking into more QoL changes for Ezreal in the future, but that might be 1-2 months away (again, QoL improvements, not overwhelming buffs)." aproximatly 3 months ago. Can we get an eta on these changes?
I love the champ, I just feel other carrys have more damage potential, and are WAY easier to play. Maybe im just bad at him, but a lot of others in the community has voiced similar concerns.
1) This ability scales similarly to other late game carry spells. Ones that have higher ratios often have longer cast times, and thus more auto attack down time.
2) That is an option, but it isn't one I would suggest. We already have a spell that crits (Parrrrley), and imo, it feels terrible to be crit at all phases of the game. It sounds like your greater problem is his base attack range, since it sounds like you expect his mystic shot to be an auto attack replacer.
3) Lots of AD Carries have spells which deal physical damage and don't scale with crit, Ezreal is no different.
4) Well, why does he not hit as much? He has a pretty standard auto attack range, and has a great closer. Perhaps he is too squishy?
5) ETA canceled, not on the docket for the foreseeable future.

I think it would be pretty awesome, but we would have to solve a number of problems:
1) Make the spider champion cool
2) Make it not creepy
3) If it is a 'queen', then make it not hot / creepy
And many more!

Such change would allow players to create a lot of new items from these which already exist.
Also i've a question about black cleaver. It seems a bit useless in current state because it cost too much for early - mid game and it becomes very weak in late game (it's better to skip it and get lat whisper).
What do you think about increasing amount of stacks from 3 to 6 and ofc adjusting the price?
Honestly I find the secret shop to be a fairly outdated concept. It is an additional barrier to entry. You couldn't imagine how long it takes for players to know that it exists, then you need to explain that different items are in it. This also means that you can't access all items in the primary shop. It simply adds too many problems for what it adds.

Does not Viktor's HexCore upgrade cost too much? Yes, it's actual for item, but in same time it is part of passive spell. And in same time if it will cost too low it will be OP. So i got an idea: maybe increace cost to 1600 but add an active component wich will refund half of it over 10 minutes?
And i remembered another question.
Long time ago there was a bug with Lee's Tempest, wich could be casted 2 or 3 times. Everybody played with it. Now it does not work. Did not you thinked about adding a small AP ratio to this spell?
And another one
Why Garrison was not added at Classic Mode? If it can be used only at 1 tower it still seems to be cool. And if you will make its lowranged it also can help to defend or push.
And one more
Did not you thinked about remake spells like Teemo's E Toxic Shot or Vayne's W Silver Bolts?
I am so annoying ><
Did not you thinked that Body Slam (E spell of Gragas) needs a minimum cap of damage?
P.S. Sorry for mistakes.
P.P.S. Happy New Year!
1) Viktor's hexcore upgrades have an amazing premium, I also believe you get an item that grants an impressive amount of AP per level. Enough to make it fairly equivalent to other passives in terms of gold value. Yes it takes up an item slot, but you can further upgrade it for great results!
2) Hmmm, well, we fixed the bug. The champion is still plenty powerful, so I don't believe we need to add additional power in other areas.
3) Garrison has too much overlap with Fortify. Though conceivably we could add it if we removed Fortify. That being said, it would take a ton of testing, as I can think of a number of abuse cases with this spell being introduced (pushing teams would become a force to be reckoned with).

How it should work? How it would be usefull? You could figure it out. =D
We've had abilities which do this in the past. For example, Teemo's original ultimate was a sleep which also drained Mana. Hmm, even Malzahar's ultimate used to leech mana as well. We ultimately found that mana drain is an anti fun gameplay experience. It robs your opponent from being able to enact fun events, i.e. casting spells. It is far more painful than short silences since being oom can last long periods of time, and with abilities you can potentially keep them oom'ed. So while I feel it could work, it just isn't worth it due to the pain it causes.

So! The only time his W, Essence Flux, is used, is on a champion right? Why not make it so that Essence Flux leaves a charge an any champion hit for a few seconds, and then, if the same champion is hit with Mystic **** while the charge is still active, half a Essence Flux's mana cost is returned back to Ez? Just an idea... It would make harassing early in lane a lot less of a hassle seeing as it takes no time at all for Ez to be low on mana, seeing as his W uses up so much of it with such low damage output/an on hit affect that really doesn't affect early game.
Unfortunately I don't believe that would be as fun as you expect. Since both Essence Flux and Mystic Shot are line nukes, you would simply cast one after another at the same location in order to get your proc effect. There simply wouldn't be much gameplay. A better variant on this would be a lobbed grenade + skill shot ability. Perhaps we'll do something like that in the future.
As for the mana problems, it would be far simpler to just reduce his costs or increase he base mana / regen.

As stated by a few other posters, this would be too problematic for a number of spells. Take for example Karthus ult, it would just lead to too much damage coming out on a per minute basis. But that isn't even the worst case scenario. I would be more afraid of core abilities being reduced. Imagine if Alistar could cast two aoe stuns and two knockbacks over the course of 4 seconds.

Also, why dont the bots get to use skins in A.I. and Custom games? Its practically free advertising for Riot when people play, has it ever been considered?
Thanks for your time!
If and when we work on LeBlanc I can assure you that balancing out her play experience over the course of the game will be a primary goal.
We have considered it, but think about who bots are for. Ultimately, bots are there to help new players learn how to play the game. As such, we wanted to teach players what champions look like and do. Adding on different skins might confuse players, and add an extra layer of disambiguation to new champions. That being said, perhaps advanced bots should have skins.

Currently, all of Ezreal's abilities benefit him regardless of his build...
Mystic Shot: provides AP with early game harass and a Lich Bane proc at long range
Essence Flux: provides AD with a decent AS debuff late game
Arcane Shift: strong mobility regardless of build
Trueshot Barrage: heavy magic damage, and even scales off of bonus AD
... but his passive only benefits AP late game if he ever ends up with enough AP to deal heavy damage to a turret.
tl;dr - what are your thoughts on the idea for this change to Ezreal's passive
Rising Spell Force: Hitting a target with any of Ezreal's abilities increases his attack speed by 10% and his ability power by [3*]% for 6 seconds (Max Stacks: 5).

Hop into the mod community and be part of something great. If that would take too much time, then pick up your nearest map editor (I prefer Starcraft II's staredit), and go make your own custom game. Prove out how great your skills are by crafting something that you would consider to be well designed. Best of luck!

I think it's pretty cool, albeit has a few confusion points. Unfotunately our 'chain' abilities are all set out around telling enemy players to run away from them in order to break them. This new ability would go counter to this, and thus tell the player to make the wrong choice. We would probably have to take a different approach to make a similar effect, ideas?

Cons- It might just feel crappy to kill a minion and only get 3-7 gold. AFK player hurts the team way more. People get Raged at for having a low cs.
Honestly I think that would make the game feel too stale. Without the ability to last hit, too much of the game would be focused around simply pushing (which on it's own is not a super interesting event). We would have to add new events to the early game just to keep it as entertaining as it is now. I would rather solve the 0 cs meta in a different less painful way.

Well, we constantly make changes to the older champions. We now have 94 champions, how many of them aren't viable? Additionally, we are constantly working on champions with major problems internally. I can think of four off the top of my head who are looking at major reworks.

1) I'm sure we will continue making comedic skins. We are just making them at a slightly slower rate. We found that comedic skins are less used by players, and as such, have been moving our development to give the players more of what they want.

Well, when we built the map we did so without the ability to interact with the environment. So we simply don't have a way to make use of the trees. Perhaps some day we will have to add them...perhaps in a new map?

Well, our first goal is always to ensure each champion has a solid and distinct role in the game. Take for example Caitlyn, she does the Ranged DPS role very well, and only the Ranged DPS Role. While a champion like Kog'Maw can fulfill either the Ranged DPS or the Caster role for the team. We rarely go out of our way to ensure that this happens (Kog'Maw and Ezreal were intended to have role variety), and in fact, quite often it is a lucky coincidence (AD Kennen).

I want to ask you two things:
1. When you hear "support champion" you usually imagine some kind of healer or someone who is able to protect an ally with a shield but lately I've seen more and more untraditional supports like Nunu that excel at buffing his AD carry. Could you imagine making a support thats main focus is buffing/debuffing mixed with some disruption maybe? I thought of something like a weapons dealer/smuggler or travelling merchant "master of all trades" style. When you think about it ensuring a steady supply and supporting someone mixes well together dont you think? I could imagine an ult where you can drop a portal somewhere far away for 1 ally to use per rightclick and teleporting to your position (reverse shen ult). I think this would be pretty strong in the laning phase for shopping or for dragon fights.
2. Why do some champions have so many skins and some really popular champs so few? My favorite champ is Irelia and I was so happy when she finally got her Infiltrator Skin. (I play on EU West though)
I find it hard to belief that it would not be worth the investment in some cases.
1) Yes, and these characters are often labeled as offensive supports internally. Good examples of this are champions such as Zilean and Morgana. Both have solid disables and support moves, but their support moves are more situational, while their disables are more fundamental to their kit. Additionally, they tend to do much more damage than traditional supports.
As a side note, we've actually tried the group teleport on Lulu (our upcoming champion). Unfortunately, it simply wasn't cool enough most of the time. It occasionally led to some awesome experiences, but that happened only 1-2 times a game...if they were pro players (lower level players rarely figured out how to use this ability).
2) There are a number of factors that go into skin selection. It is mostly in line with player use (make the skins that players want), though it is also tied in with ease of creation (it is hard not to come up with an awesome Teemo skin =-D), as well as difficulty of skin creation (champions like Udyr require multiple model and texture updates).

The 0 CS Support meta came about because it was a much more efficient way to get your carry to a point where they're effective. I know you guys are probably ten thousand times smarter than I am, but I can't help but wonder, how can you change something that works so efficiently? I don't really see any plausible ways to make the meta change, beyond completely nerfing heals into oblivion, which would probably have the effect of driving heal supports into extinction.
I'm really curious about this, as I play supports most of the time. Any answer is appreciated. Thanks for your time, Ezreal. ^^
Well, there are a number of problems with the 0 cs support meta:
1) Supports don't get gold, and thus don't get to purchase awesome items.
2) Lanes are stale and unfun.
3) Players don't want to get no CS.
We looked into these and found that #3 isn't always necessarily true, we also identified that #2 was by far the largest problem. So we started going into supports and identifying ways to reduce their sustain, while increasing their harass potential. This would increase the net amount of danger in lanes, making them more vibrant and interesting to play and watch. As time goes on we will also delve deeper into support item variation and other potential ways for them to get an income. But that is much farther down the line.

There seems to be so much potential for healing over time abilities that riot hasn't really addressed, aside from with Voli (not an active or target-able ability) or Janna (a non-spammable ult where the heal is also not used very much due to channeling).
Healing over time AOEs (such as an inverted Nasus E) would make for very interesting zoning and baiting mechanics in lanes, as well as increasing the actual skill level of a support player (skillshot heals would be SO exciting to watch/use).
Can you say whether you considered these kinds of abilities and just decided to throw them on the backburner due to balance issues, or were they an aspect deemed "un-fun" for some reason?
We've tried HoTs in the game, and they simply don't feel as good or impactful as straight heals. Now this does not mean that we will never do one. I personally am a big fan of a DoT/HoT (based on who you target). So I'm sure they will come some day.
As for AoE healing zones, that is a much more contentious issue. That would dramatically boost the sustain meta, ultimately leading to more stale poke related gameplay.
Finally, skill shot heals are much less fun than you'd expect. In the case that the ability always heals, players simply would want to stand still next to you to ensure that the healing occurred. For dual use heals (see old Ezreal Essence Flux), it led to confusion over how to use the spell --> do I target my enemies or my allies. We still haven't found a good way to do skill shot heals.

Nope, that is a Xyph original spell. In fact, if memory serves that was the first ability he made for the kit, and he actually based the entire kit around it. Xyph wanted Fizz to be a highly mobile playful champion. So locking down this ability was clutch.
Urchin Strike was actually taken from an old Jarvan ability (his Q used to dash through before he had his hook shot combo). It fits farrrrr better on Fizz.

1) Sona was nerfed because she was so good with the innervating locket, but after it was removed from the game, she´s still keeping those nerfs. What gives?
2) I dont even like Karma and I feel she needs more skins (not really a question, but hoping for comments)
3) Kayle´s Q feels incredibly underpowering. The slow does not increase at all when you level it up, and the damage is only marginally better. You can easily just take one point on it and never again touch it until you can´t raise anything else. Is there any way you could take a brief look at it?
4) Mid to late game, Sivir´s Q becomes pretty useless, compared to her AAs and W. Have you ever thought about having the damage loss decrease with level? What about her spellshield, can it get a passive effect, like "mana regen 3 every 5 seconds"? Anything would make us happy, really. Or how about if popping it automatically directs to you the next spell casted by an enemy around her? Im tired of bad opponents missing their skillshots on me when I stand still for them =(
How about having it give Sivir a stat buff of some type while it is ready to use? maybe a tiny magic resistance bonus. I mean, it would only make sense if her spellshield being "up" makes her shield against spells better, you know? And why can´t the SPELLshield block summoner SPELLS?
5) Flash. The community has been suggesting for months now an easy fix for it. "You can´t flash if you have taken damage from an enemy champion on the last 2 seconds". That way you wont see people using flash as a "get out of HOLY **** I DID SOMETHING REALLY STUPID" free card anymore, and you can shorten its cooldown and enlarge its range again so people will use it strategically to position themselves for an attack with it.
1) Haha, she wasn't continually nerfed due to locket, she simply was still too powerful. The ability to bring an AoE ultimate to a teamfight as a support is simply an amazingly powerful advantage. Not to mention the sheer amount of hidden power she brought via her auras.
2) Agreed in both account =-P.
3) That does sound like a lackluster level-up mechanic... I'm sure someone will look at Kayle eventually, she needs some love.
4) Hmm, I'm afraid I have to disagree with the Q comment, that ability hits like a pile of bricks if she is farmed. As for giving W a passive, we generally avoid granting new passive elements like that unless they either add new gameplay or cannot be improved via stat modification. In this case, we could simply reduce the cost of her spells or increase her mana regen.
5) We've tried it...extensively, and honestly, it feels terrible. Don't get me wrong, it does achieve the goal of making it less overpowered. But it does so via adding confusing mechanics which feel bad. If we are going to change such a staple spell then we need to do so in such a way that we don't reduce it's level of fun or understandability.
Hey Guys, time for another round of @Ezreal Updates. Here comes another 5 pages worth of responses. Keep asking questions and I'll be more than happy to answer as many as I can! The shorter the question the more likely I will be able to answer it.

I would disagree that his only gap closer is his ultimate, what if we reduced the threshold of his blood thirst triggering, or increased it's movement speed? We have ways of increasing his power without fiddling with his kit. I'm sure we can find it out if Warwick is truly underpowered.

Oh there are plenty, and I'm sure you can fill in the gaps from reading Zileas's Anti-fun thread. For example, we generally avoid mana burn effects (as it removes the enemy players ability to cast spells, which is generally a fun thing to do). A more nitch aspect that we avoid is the 'sleep' or 'remove from game' effect as a targeted event. While you might often think that this is an awesome ability, it actually leads to a lot of counter team situations. For example, we tried this with Nocturne at one point (he made the target disappear, and summoned two clones of the target when he reappeared to attack him). But whenever he cast it, players like Ashe would waste their skill shots firing at the target which was no longer there. So while it sounded amazing at first, it didn't end up working out...

I just talked it over with the Live team and they have apparently considered it multiple times. Unfortunately this ability allows the worst aspect of shaco (AP Shaco) to be even burstier. So ultimately we avoided making this change as we believed it would hurt more players than it would help.

Well, tier 1 runes are actually immensely powerful and definitely worth their cost. It would be foolish to ignore them in your early summoner levels. Tier 2 runes have a bit more problems (since they cost dramatically more and you are much closer to tier 3 runes). That being said, they do speed up your progression to tier 3 as they help you win more games. As for why we added them, we wanted to give players a way to progress in the game at every level.

First, would be along the lines of a time based champion, and tends to push along the lines of 'anti-carry' kind of ability. I'm not going to deny that it was completely inspired by 'Balefire' from Wheel of Time, but that's beside the point. I think it'd be an interesting effect to have the champ hit the enemy to 'undo' the damage this enemy champ recently did, and perhaps even recasting the damage back on the enemy. This would create a new dimension because it would be different from spell vamp or life steal because it wouldn't just effect the champion, anyone the enemy had hit would have a revert of health.
I've found a few problems in general that I think could easily be fixed:
1.) It has the potential to be extremely over powered, but I feel like its similar to Veigar's ultimate, and shouldn't be too hard to balance.
2.) The prospect of undoing a killing blow kind of makes me weary, but I'd personally deal with this by not allowing it to revive dead champions. Simple enough.
There are probably other problems with this general idea that I'm not thinking of, but perfecting the timing on it in game would be incredibly important and make an interesting game play.
Another idea I had dealt with the general fact that champions coming out recently have had quite a bit of CC builds, and as such there isn't really a tank with an ally target-able shield. However, one that simply blocked out CC altogether like Morgana's spell shield is kind of frivolous on a tank, so what if instead it allows him to soak general CC from them, allowing the target to escape it. I'd see this working well on like slows and the like, however I don't see it being incredibly efficient on snares/stuns/taunts and the like unless he converted the amount of CC into a percentage of health.
I feel like it'd work similar to Karma's shield thing (that I've never actually used because I don't play her, but bare with me) only dealing with CC instead of straight up damage. This could change the game because there is no tank out there that really denies CC, even though I feel like that should be more of the tanks job. There's numerous problems I see with this, and I'd rather see what you would say, in case they sound superfluous, or I make myself out to be even less educated in game mechanics than I already have quite possibly done.
Anyway, those are just two quick ideas I had and I'm curious to see what you think of them.
1) Balefire: Amazing idea from an amazing book series (Wheel of time...rather, the first three books of the series). To elaborate, Balefire is a spell which deletes the last x amount of time the enemy had if you deal the killing blow. So if your enemy dealt 1000 damage to you in the last 5 seconds, and you kill them with Balefire, then that 1000 damage would be undone. I find it a pretty interesting ability, which has a lot of flavor. But you are correct, it has a number of problems. If we really wanted to keep it's flavor, then we would want it to reverse allied champion deaths...which has even more problems with it. Great idea though!
2) I think a targeted short duration spell shield can work, but it requires the correct support kit. I have one in mind (a certain offensive support kit that has a spell shield which also reflects a set damage nuke...ie. reverse damage). Another good idea, great work!

There is definitely the chance to have a Native American based champion. Unfortunately I do not know enough about the cultural icons to properly give them an amazing champion (the closest I can come up with is a totemic shaman). Any idea on how Riot can make a champion that do Native American's justice?

All over the place. The mark of a good designer is a broad amount of knowledge. I constantly play games, read books, watch movies and animes; just to garner more knowlege about how to make new and awesome champions. So even while something might seem like it is out of thin air, it is often from experiences that we have encountered such as obscure reference that we have forgeten about.

We held on them for a few reasons. The main one was the tournament, however, that was not the singular reason we held off on the buffs / feel improvements. The live team was getting numerous reports that Ezreal was 'overpowered' in other nations. He also had a fairly high win ratio, which was not in line with what most players were preaching. So we opted to not make the changes. I'm sure a few of the changes, especially the feel ones, will make it in eventually.

let say that i want play support and buy strong support items (like aegis of legion but with 2-3 x better stats) the diffirence would be penalty which decrease dmg dealt by like 80% (so i sacrifice my power for being strong support) this way it wont make other classes OP (there was similar problem with locket back then)
Everyone would still be able to buy this item but penalty would make it balanced.
2. What do you think about removing RNG from criticals? making it similar to caitlyn passive (double dmg every "X" hits, like 10% crit chance = 1 critical every 20 attacks (since attack speed is capped at 2500 but it can be easily countered by items like frozen heart and various abilities so imo 20 is more balanced than 25)
It can even have some special animation like cait bonus dmg so it will make countering it easier early-mid game.
1) I'm afraid that item would either be unusable or overpowered. You would only purchase the negative attribute if you didn't care that much about it (i.e. dealing damage as a support). So the bonuses garnered from the negative aspect would be worth more than the negative aspect. Making it overpowered, or, if we balanced the power with the trade off in mind, not fun.
2) I'm generally a fan of removing most RNG from games, but even competitive FPS's have some soft 'RNG'. Think about those times where your weapons kickback accidentally knocked your sights up to get you a headshot. I think having a small amount of RNG adds flavor, we just need to keep it manageable.

1) Not at all actually. Ezreal came from a number of sources, though he primarily came out of the concept of an all skill shot champion. We wanted to make a unique archer who could materialize his bow whenever he fired it. So we looked into other games, comics, and shows which have done this in the past.
2) Dominion was really supposed to focus on the small scale skirmishes. If you want larger skirmishes I HIGHLY recommend ARAB (all random all botom). It's a custom game where the entire team goes bottom lane in dominion. It's a ton of fun...I think I'll go play one after I post here =-D.

I am not even sure if this is viable, however, because I am sure if the champions are selected post or pre human champion select. I also think that beginner bot mode should be limited to champions level 10 and below.
Medium bot games - To get new players into the feel of actually playing against humans, take away the ability to see what bots are going to be playing against you, much like they are now. Make these games available through level 30.
Hard bot games - I think you should make these "Draft Mode" games to prepare fresh level 30's for the rigors of ranked, and make the bots extremely hard. The bots could ban random champions, or perhaps champions that are popular ban picks so fresh 30s get a taste of actual ranked life. This option would open up at level 30, and offer full IP rewards per game.
Just some suggestions. What do you think? =D
1) Beginner Bot Games: This is a phenomenal idea, my hat is personally off to you!!! That being said, there are two problems with it, but I think it should still work. The first problem is simply getting the tech to do it. Though I think this would ultimately be worth it just for Draft Mode. The second is that it trains players to have a crutch that they won't have when playing normal games. This might throw some players off and make them not want to make the jump. I'll have to think on that one more. But again, great idea!
2) Med Bots: Maybe, same arguments as above.
3) I'm actually the least in favor of this change. I would rather just add a new vs Bots queue, Draft Mode vs Bots.

If Gangplank needs a slow to follow and kill someone hell he CAN, while Sejuani... literally falls behind.
We will continue making improvements to our champions each and every patch. You can even see how the Live Team has been doing a better and better job by looking at the champion viability in tournaments (4 months ago roughly 50 champions were picked or banned, now over 70 are picked or banned).
I'm afraid individual abilities can have differing power levels based on what champion they are placed on. A 2 second stun on a champion like Sion is acceptable in our opinion, though you wouldn't be able to place that on an AD carry. Take for example Brand, he has a ton more range, damage, and harass. So it doesn't matter if he has to take extra steps to achieve the same stun duration.

Even the item diversity problem just looks like you're going to throw us more aura or defensive items. It's not just the diversity of items we want, it's the POWER of them. I can tell by your tone that the balance department still thinks that creating more support items is the perfect solution (it's not), when you should be focusing on the game's economy in general. Someone over there has to know how to use a spreadsheet, why the hell do you still think adding more support items is the solution? If they're strong enough to make an impact, carries and bruisers are just going to grab them as well.
That isn't going to happen when you guys refuse to acknowledge that the 0 CS is a problem for many reasons. Trying to sidestep it is kind of being lazy. Lanes are generally stale and unfun because of 0 CS. Watching you guys keep try to downplay the strong correlation between the two is like watching an alcoholic struggle with admitting they have a problem; everyone knows it's there, they just won't admit it.
I don't understand what you're going for here. I think we have said straight out that we dislike 0 CS gameplay, and are looking for solutions to the problem. Saying that we aren't is just wrong. We aren't stating solutions because there is simply no perfect solution short of changing core game systems (which we aren't prepared to do). We have however found ways to lessen the pains that the 0 CS meta has given to us. More item selection makes supports more fun, less sustain and more harass makes those lanes more fun to play and watch, and adding more active/fun (Lulu) supports will improve their health. On top of this, there is a rather large subset of players who actually enjoy the non stressful playstyle of not having to last hit constantly.

Because let me be frank with you, releasing a void-corrupted lady is a fast track to getting RP from me. Bonus points if she's in a classy dress with a high collar not showing any skin. Because that's god**** sexy.
Maybe =-D, I hear she's a pretty neat concept. But who knows, only time will tell ;-).

They give the opposition an idea of your skill leveling and although it's not a big of a deal, it is still a slight advantage.
Personally I like the little added effects but I wanted to know your opinion as a designer.
I think it's pretty awesome whenever we add it. True, it does give a slight amount of information to the enemy player, and knowledge is power. But we feel that this slight amount of knowledge is worth the coolness factor that it adds.

We have considered it in the past, albeit it was pre release. It is cool in concept, but has a number of flaws. Global abilities tend to require a certain, size, in order to make them understandable. Having an entire kit which requires you to explain what is happening on a global scale would be loud. Then there is the problem of power. Being able to have your abilities affect anywhere on the map is a large amount of power, one that we would have to balance for. This means we would have to trim power from the overall kit, making the champion less fun in that respect.

did they pay more attention to where you attended college?, your portfolio?, an interview?
how do you communicate the looks and personality of your champs to the artists?
Im very interested in the matter, so Im sorry if it's a lengthy question and Im also sorry if some of them have already been answered, but as you might imagine, no sane person would read 480 pages.
1) There are a number of critical skills. Core intellect, problem solving, communication, and ideation are just a few of the skills we look for.
2) I was one of those lucky designers who stepped out of school and hopped right into game design (I double majored in psych and economics).
3) While going to a great college helps, it doesn't actually affect your capability of getting a position that greatly. You can be a great designer without having a college education. The interview is what we look at the most.
4) We hop into a room with a designer, creative designer, and two artists to go over what our collective vision of a champion is. It isn't just the designer, it's a collaborative matter.
Finally, with these 10 pages of comments I will finally be caught up again!!!!!!!

P.S.: Thanks, as always. You should has a blog!or something
That is a great point, and honestly one that I should have pushed for more. While movement abilities are not as painful as straight up banishes (you might headbutt someone into ashe's arrow, or keep them in line with it, a banish will never accomplish this), they also cause problems. On that note, I would like to see a different form of banish, one which makes the target untargetable by physical attacks, but still susceptible to magic attacks. Perhaps we will test that out in the near future. Great comment!

The only thing they do different than maybe damage is the fact Gragas' slows attack speed while Lux slows movement.
Having Lux, the Lady of Luminosity, gain additional vision is very thematic with the character's core design, making it easy for players to both understand and embrace it. That being said, we are not necessarily opposed to adding this to Gragas as well. If he needs a buff, this might be a good place to put it. However, every buff requires the time to enact the change, and the time to test the change. We cannot make changes to all champions with similar abilities all the time, it is just not sustainable.

Well, if you are talking about a champion who has ammo on each of his abilities, that would require too much micro management of their individual ammo numbers. If we are talking about a shared source, then this would likely work similar to the Energy system, just with a smaller number. In that case, why not just use the Energy system that players understand?

Can I make a recommendation? I do not know if you guys like to watch animation, but there was a Black Panther miniseries made by Marvel a few years ago. It was very good in my opinion and also well-reviewed. Djimon Honsou (the guy from Blood Diamond and Gladiator) did the voiceover for the title character, and the animation was phenomenal for such a small production. It is one of the only animated series to explore a black superhero as well as African lore. If you (or anyone else on the design team who might be interested) like animation and have any free time, I would strongly recommend watching this series or at least an episode or two! Thanks for listening!
P.S. An African inspired champion wouldn't have to be a shaman, although that would be cool. African mythology is very rich and there are a diversity of video game archetypes that actually have their roots in Africa.
Haha, my close personal friend Johnny Romita Jr actually did the art for that series. It is wonderful and I highly recommend it. This is an area which we will consider and look into. Good recommendation.

Absolutely, in fact, the champion I have been excited about for the past year is potentially going to be a stance swapper. These characters have the potential for a tremendous amount of play and optimizing. Hope you look forward to it.

I (relatively) recently posted a champ suggestion that had a portal ult which could teleport multiple people, so I'm interested in what went wrong with your implementation of a similar spell (and hopefully think of solutions).
The portal ultimate was mostly confusing for most players. Namely, when to use it, why to use it, how to get allies to go into it, and how to use it in combat. There were a few good uses (blue pilling back with your carry and using the ult to get him back to the lane quickly), using it to defend dragon and nashor, and a few other quirks. The awesome uses were when teams were about to engare and Lulu changes the location of the battlefield (sometimes pulling her team behind the enemies, where they never expected them). Unfortunately, these cases were difficult to figure out, and often led to the negative cases (not wanting to teleport, telporting and dying, etc). The best version of it was a single cast that created two zones, where allies could stand in them for x seconds to swap between areas.

Perhaps the pet could latch onto enemy champions debuffing or damaging them and this would alter the way the trade places works dealing good damage to the enemy champ.
Stealth pets are neat, but need incredible micro management. Unfortunately our pet controls aren't up to snuff to be able to grant the player a smooth enough experience to allow for this type of champion. Perhaps we will reconsider it when our pet controls are improved.

I'm generally not a fan. Immovable lanes are stagnant and boring, and for the most part simply PvE farm lanes where you ignore your opponent. I hope we move away from this sort of play in the near future. We have started down this path by nerfing lifesteal items life Wriggle's Lantern.

Either its afk farm all day, with the occasional gank, and participation in neutral objective fights. I see an early gank that suceeds, game snowballs ect. Or Jungle invades that snowball purely because your jungler is stronger than the other. I think the solution for this (purely opinion). Would be the creation (and yes i know this is hard to implement) of a smaller neutral objective. Something that although not team fighting for, would give the jungler a small advantage over the other, and adds a new level of difficulty in maintaining jungle. It also gives junglers somewhere to go besides the other jungle after they have cleared camps and all lanes are pushed.
Just my two cents.
Well, that objective exists in two forms currently. The dragon is the neutral objective, albeit it does call on the team's support. The sigils are another objective, albeit you've talked about counter play via counter jungling. Adding an additional objective would require new space in the map to place it, as well as a mechanic to make the laners not simply just come out and take it. For example, would could place a 'mini dragon' in Nashor's area until he spawned. And have it be solo / duo'able. However, monsters like this are weak enough to be killed quickly without any form of counter play.

By this i simply mean that almost any non premade or competitive game you see the same 6 champs being banned. Rammus, Morgana, Shaco, Kassadin, Shen and then a rotation between Sion, Tryndamere and Karthus.
I do appreciate that with many of these champions they are banned based on their kits making them to mobile aka, most of them can get across the map in a few seconds (shen rammus) or have some type of skill that gives the a free flash every few seconds (shaco and kassadin).
My question is, these champions are constantly banned because they are anti fun or just way too strong in some cases. So why arent they nerfed to a point where they arent permaban status. I know that you have been nerfing rammus the past few patches but the core reason hes banned are not based on his stats. And next patch your BUFFING the number 1 anitfun permabanned for life Shaco? Why? i dont get it, then theres other champs like morgana who havent seen changes in forever.
Hope i get some insights, thanks!
We constantly attempt to nerf these banned champions while also not over nerfing them. Rammus is a good example of this. We could just hit one of his abilities to oblivion, but then he wouldn't be played at all. As it is, most of our champions are balanced within a +/- 5% win/loss ratio. Making overly large changes aren't required to champions like this.
Additonally, some of these champions are primarily banned because of the state of the meta. Take Kassadin for example. We don't believe that Kassadin is overpowered, we believe that he will be seen as balanced as the state of the meta evolves over time.

It's a solid idea that I can see Riot doing at some point in the future. However, any time you add the ability for players to choose minutia in the game, you actually split up the player base. This increases the time players spend in queues, so we have to be sure that players get enough out of features like this before we implement them.

Most designers aren't programmers. Designers who have heavy programming skills are Technical Designers (like Brackhar). That being said, you should strive to get at least the basics. Learning how to script as a bare minimum for most jobs in the industry. I suggest StarEdit and WarEdit from the Starcraft and Warcraft franchises.

In DOTA terms it would be someone like Bane, who can put enemy to sleep, reduce their damage output blah blah blah. The direction u had with Lulu is great, she has one of the most disruptive spell in the game (polymorph aka hex) but I want to see MORE. Because shield is too mainstream.
2. A few pages back there is someone ask that Flash should not be able to activate when u have taken damage in the last x seconds, and u say it would be confusing. I believe otherwise as my experience with DOTA implies that the said effects make people thinks twice before doing something and prevent someone from going all ****** (before Blink Dagger can be activated whenever u can, people do stupid things, after they changed it, people complained a lot, even me. But after sometimes people get wised up and now only pro get Blink Dagger). An alternative of this would be the restriction that Flash cannot be activated when u are below x% of HP.
3. Give Taric some love plz. He falls off late game, can only CC one person in 5v5, dies fairly easy when built as a support + his heal is just terrible ( long cd + high mana cost, worthless late game).
4. Jarvan buff plz xD. Tweak his shield and change the way his Cataclysm wall works (impassable but can be crossed by Riven and Vayne dash etc = real frustration). May be change the scalling from bonus AD to total AD also. I would LOVE to hear the Demacia shout in tournaments.
1) We have plenty of champions like this, we call them offensive supports. A few examples of this are Morgana, Fiddlesticks, Lux, and Zilean. We want to push more in this direction for supports in the future!
2) As you said, the audience capable of using Blind Dagger was reduced dramatically (to pros only). That is not something we want to do with our base summoner spells, abilities that any player can pick up. As for the % idea, unfortunately that just makes players have to use it defensive earlier.
3) I'm afraid I don't know too much about Taric right now.
4) We're going to look into improving 'created' terrain at some point in the future. I'm sure Jarvan will like the changes.

@Ezreal (you are awesome),
A South American Indian-themed champion would not just be cool for diversity's sake, it would also be a chance to try out a new weapon. The Inca, Mapuche, and other nearby people used bolas for hunting and warfare (a bola is that thing you throw at people's legs to trip them up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolas) It is a pretty cool ranged and/or melee weapon and I think a champion that fought with bolas would be awesome. Do you think it could work well in a fighter's kit?
To answer your questions on Bolas, yes, I think they would be a pretty cool ranged weapon. Perhaps a jungler could use a trap to identify where enemies are and then throw a bola at them to slow them down...=-D.

It was a 'oh that's neat', sort of ability. In fact, I believe we need to go back and consistify these sorts of abilities (Heimer's Rockets, Soraka's Starcall, etc). To elaborate, abilities that are only active when enemies are around should all work in the same fashion, while I don't believe they do currently.

We opted to not do the Yordle in a Tank concept since it pushes the boundaries of the tech we want to see in our game world. We want to keep the number of high technology champions low for a few reasons (Rumble's Mech and Corki's Hellicopter). First off, the more we do them, the less they become uniquely cool. Next up, we want to ensure that the tech levels of our world don't exceed what players think would be natural in a pseudo fantasy game.
As for the dog champion, can you refresh my memory on who that is?

We have considered this a number of times, but please understand that it is an incredible undertaking. One so large that we would have to hold out on a number of new features for a year or two. Basically, we made the value judgement that we can deliver more updates to the community by utilizing the engineer/designer time which would have gone into this tool into other awesome projects.

I understand that you were the main designer of Nocturne. Was it your intention to see him function as a sustain damage dealing Tanky DPS rather than a bursty assassin? Can you shed some light on any Nocturne tweaks?(I know Morello said something about changing a mechanic on him to make him more of a assassin)
Nocturne was one of those unfortunate champions which undertook a class change mid way through his development. He started off as a true assassin character, one who would dash into the fight, kill his target, and escape into the night. However, a few things went wrong that made us have to change his kit around a bit. The first problem was that he was being created in a time of melee failure, back when melee champions were rarely used due to the proliferation of ranged slows (Red Buff used to be twice as strong for ranged ADs). So we had to give him more survival tools (see: Spell Shield). Then later on we found the best way to make him an assassin was to place him into the jungle. However, his stats and damage were too low to sustain him. So he gained lifesteal on his passive and +damage while on his trail. At the end of the day he became more of a tanky dps than an assassin.
As for Morello's comments, he most likely meant that we should either remove his disable (fear) or his spell shield, as they give him too many tools to be granted the burst dps required to be an assassin.

I don't think 0 CS is the problem per se. I honestly think it's the lack of cool things a support gets. There isn't much diversity for support and none of the items are inspiring even if Aegis has awesome stats. Not to mention it feels bad if an enemy has an orcale and kills a ward simply because supports don't roll in money.
So, my suggestions:
1)Someone posted a good support tree new mastery. Basics of it...when someone with this mastery stands near a champion and that champion kills a minion, They earn a bonus gold (IE: extra 2/4/6 gold). This isn't my idea, but I loved it.
2) Wards not stacking. Ideally: Everyone would have to save 1 slot for a ward, support taking the brunt of ward at start, but later in game, have to give up a portion of that to carry the all-mighty aura items. Possible con: Support floating around with boots and 4 wards...I don't think this would happen as aura items are quite potent, but it's a possibility.
3) More Gold items and the ability to upgrade them. K. Pick is an item I don't mind getting every so often, but it doesn't build into anything I can really use, though if it built into say Will of the ancients, I'd love to get it. Same thing with Zeke's herald. Currently, I can't build into it because none of the items are something I'm going to get (G/10). Perhaps allowing the blade that grants g/10 to build into zeke's and k. pick to build into wota would allow some diversity for support to build depending on what team compesitions are.
4) Another mastery low in the support tree that allows for items to be sold back for greater % than what is currently offered. IE: selling g/10 wouldn't sell for 50%, but for support 75% or so on...
TY for reading.
1) I personally love that mastery and think that we should try it out in internal environments. That being said, I don't think it solves the problem entirely, and actually leads to other problems. All this would allow is a small amount of additional itemization (which is good, but doesn't solve the core issue). It also has problems with stacking, imagine if 4 players on the team have this mastery...though that is mostly solvable if it is low enough on the utility tree.
2) That would just making playing support feel more annoying. To play optimally they would simply have to go back to base to pick up new wards more often.
3) That is a solid idea on the surface, but more champions purchase gp/10 items than supports. I actually see a number of jungle tanks or fighters purchase these items. This would increase the power of gp/10 items without holding the power back to just the support champions.
4) That is a bit too hidden for my tastes. Most players don't even know that gp/10 items sell back at a reduced rate, and it rarely comes into play...especially for support champions. I also don't see what this would really grant the support champions, since they rarely purchase a set of items and swap out their builds.

It's hard not to wonder because he's been my main for a while and a new skin would give me something new to play with other than the usual Ezreal and summoner's rift. In addition, for players who can only purchase RP once in a while, it helps a lot in managing RP consumption (like say if I wanted to use all my rp right now to buy some current skins).

Sure, we will make a champion with a true pet at some point. I know no one likes hearing that we will wait until we get improved pet controls, but it is just the reality. Using annie's pet controls all day long would get tiresome pretty quickly (and too difficult if you aren't a great player). We really want to do this, but we want to make sure that we do it right!

He is the only ranged AD champion that is more of an offtank than a carry. It's unique, like how Fiddlesticks is a jungling mage. Do you ever want to make a champion like that, one that doesn't fit into a traditional role?
Thanks!
Well, I have a number of problems with Urgot. The simplest one is his art style, he is just unappealing to look at. His animations are great, they really make you think of an undead spider guy =-D. On that note, I highly recommend all urgot players get his new battlecast skin!!!
I'm also not a big fan of his design, we attempted to make a carry offtank...and succeeded. However, we did so in such a way that he has more power than we would like to put on a carry, but all of the power is in the wrong areas. He also has one of the most annoying abilities in the game (I loath getting locked on and getting nuked from 1500 range). He also blocks us from using that awesome ultimate on a kit that fits it better.
I have no problem with champions having unique play styles (such as jungle fiddle). They just take more time and effort in order to make truly awesome.

What do you think?
We have considered that a few times, but ultimately it is either going to be unnoticeable, crippling, or stymie interesting designs in the future. To elaborate, many passives aren't active (global auras, stat conversions, etc) which means that players will often not notice that they are missing. Other passives would remove gameplay (why play annie if she can't use her stun passive). And finally, it prevents us from doing crazy things in the future. Imagine a passive that says you passively deal damage to the lowest health unit in your area, but lack an auto attack. We wouldn't be able to do something like this if the passive blocker ability existed.

They have been re-prioritized on making new and existing awesome things that will let us to expand LoL in cool ways. For example, we want to build out our core IP, but doing so requires a lot of time and effort. But at the end of the day, it will all be worth it!

Even Twitch who has the huge advantage of stealth has higher hp :<
Well, when he was originally created he had the most powerful movement/positioning ability. As such, he could sacrifice a bit of health for this amazing mobility. Since then, other champions have come out with good mobility as well, at higher health values. Perhaps we should reassess his survivability values.

Avoid List / Can't Really Answer:
1) New Skins
2) Cat Girl Ezreal
4) Give us more info about x upcoming champ. I do occasionally answer this, usually when coupled with an interesting question.
5) Please no hyperlinks
6) Questions that I have answered a number of times in the past.
7) Walls of Text
8) Full champion kits, try posting 1-2 ability ideas instead.
Just started a Twitter account: @RiotEzreal...though I have no idea what I'm doing.
Hey Guys, time for another round of @Ezreal Updates. Here comes another 5 pages worth of responses. Keep asking questions and I'll be more than happy to answer as many as I can! The shorter the question the more likely I will be able to answer it (I have 30 pages just to catch up...)
Also, I always tweet whenever I finish a post in @Ezreal (Twitter: @RiotEzreal) (should be easier than sifting through this thread, oh, and does anyone know how I can look at the 'last' rioter post on a thread?). http://twitter.com/#!/RiotEzreal
I have a question: I was just wondering if those AP Ezreal changes you mentioned were still going to be released eventually or if they have been scrapped?
Thanks a bunch. =D
P.S. - I'm super excited for Pulsefire Ezreal too!
Just wanna say thanks for making Ahri
she fits everything i want as an ap carry :P
now she will be my 2nd most played champ after Ezreal
Just a quick question
are u planning to make another champs like Ez and Ahri whos pretty much all skill shot based?
Coz i cant wait for them <3
P.S. is it true that feral pony was working on heimer before getting switched to working on dodge-related remakes?
Unfortunately we put Heimer on the back burner for now since we wanted the illustrious Feral Pony to work on a brand new champion!!! Once he is done I'm sure he'll go back to Heimer, or potentially pass it on to another live designer.
Is there any chance The Proving Grounds could be rebuilt and put into custom games for ARAM?
Though a real ARAM queue would be nice as well, using the map. Just custom games would be fine.
Could even give it dominion level passive gold income/exp generation, to speed it up a bit. I mean, people have been playing ARAB (all random all bot) in dominion lately, and that works great.
PS. ARAB is amazing!!!
something like Assassin Cross from Ragnarok Online (best mmo I played <manly tears of joy)

What would you classify Ezreal's ultimate as? A channeled Spell? An Instant? I'm curious because of two reasons: Not only can you not cast it instantly, but if stunned mid cast, the Ult still shoots off. Makes me sad when I stun him and I still get shot in the face.
EDIT
* Champion-wise
No updates on Tempus, he is still in the icebox (icebox = concepts that have no work going into them and are effectively frozen).
i wanna ty for the amazing champions u made(love irelia vlad ezreal and sona <3) and for reposnding our questions i really apreciate this.
i think i have one good idea to kat u could give her one "cc shield" like morgana's black shield but it just blocks one cc and dont block damage(when she ults or maybe if she use killer instincts with ult i dont know),i think this would make her little less easy to counter. please tell me what you think about that
thx again
edit: who made ahri ? i love her
Id like to say thanks for this effort, its really like the only place I can ask questions and hope to get an answer.
5) ETA canceled, not on the docket for the foreseeable future.
do u think u would revive such a champ?
1) Make the spider champion cool
2) Make it not creepy
3) If it is a 'queen', then make it not hot / creepy
And many more!
for example: once per game every player can combine 2 different items in to "tier 4 item" which will have ~10% stats increased for "X" gold.
Hey Guys, time for another round of @Ezreal Updates. Here comes another 5 pages worth of responses. Keep asking questions and I'll be more than happy to answer as many as I can! The shorter the question the more likely I will be able to answer it (I have 25 pages just to catch up...)

I don't know where i can ask this question, so i will ask it here.
Dunno if anybody have ever suggested this but I keep thinking it would be pretty nasty in a team fight just to steal the mana.
How it should work? How it would be usefull? You could figure it out. =D
As for the mana problems, it would be far simpler to just reduce his costs or increase he base mana / regen.
I read in a post by Morello that some work was wanting to be done on Karma and LeBlanc, my question is about LeBlanc. Is there any chance she will receive some "Vlad treatment" where they try to even out her early and late game? Because she really drops off late despite amazing early game, where as with Vlad it was the opposite.
Also, why dont the bots get to use skins in A.I. and Custom games? Its practically free advertising for Riot when people play, has it ever been considered?
Thanks for your time!
I have an idea concerning Ezreal's passive Rising Spell Force
If it were changed to: Hitting a target with any of Ezreal's abilities increases his attack speed by 10% and his ability power by [3*]% for 6 seconds (Max Stacks: 5).
I'm a computer science major at Capital University interested in pursuing game design post grad school and was wondering if you had any tips for getting into the industry? I've applied for many internships at well known companies, but currently my qualifications aren't the best, as I'm only a second year student and am not actually pursuing a degree in game design yet. I do plan to go to a more focused graduate school and move out west, which I'm sure will open doors, but I was wondering if you had any other pointers. Thanks!

2) Can you shed anymore light on a third Egyptain themed character like Nasus and Renekton, specifically if it's going ahead, and if it's based on a particular egyptian god? (i.e. Horus)
3) Love your work, just sayin'
2) This one will not be based on an Egyptian God, and unfortunately I can't say too much about him. Other than he is going to make the world very very dry...
3) Much appreciated!

All CS gold *or gold in general* is shared globally.
Pros- No more fighting for CS. Farming is shared by whole team. Thus depraving 1 lane of farm is a stronger tactic.
Cons- It might just feel crappy to kill a minion and only get 3-7 gold. AFK player hurts the team way more. People get Raged at for having a low cs.
are there any plans to make single target junglers(fiddlesticks, warwick) viable when compared to junglers like skarner and udyr again?
1)I do really enjoy the variety of skins with all those references but are there any plans for "comedic" skins? I really liked Reverse Annie and Urfrider Corki!
2)Are referals the only way to get you're champoin to the League or are there any others that a normal person can do?
3)Is Ezreals dance a reference to an anime u liked? :>
4)As a Touhou fan I really appreciated the references like Lux's Ultimate, Youmuu's Ghostblade, Wriggle's Lantern or the name of Orianna's Ball (Myon). I'd like to see more of course but people say that Shurelia was the "main source" of those references. Is there any hope for more? (I still hope that Komachi which is developed by Xypherous will be grim reapeer/shinigami themed)
5) Any updated on Komachi? *huehue*
2) I'm afraid we do all champion creation internal to the company. But we do allow for Rioters from every part of the company to suggest new champions.
3) Sigh, I'm afraid I am not at fault for that dance. I believe that was Shurelia's doing...
4) Well, Shurelia was the main proponent of these sorts of names. Though Xyph was coming in second, be sure to let him know that you appreciate them.
5) I'm afraid I don't know what Komachi is...
1. Please. Whatever you do, don't nerf Ahri too far T~T.
2. What are your thoughts of Skarner's nerfs in the recent Sejuani patch?
3. What do you think of yourself as designer in LoL? Because in my opinion, you are one of the best. If not THE best. The champions you have designed are all very unique and interesting to play. Thanks for the great champions!
2) I think he is still very viable, and less frustrating to fight against.
3) It would be a folly to rate myself compared to the other designers. I am just happy, not to mention lucky, to be surrounded by such awesome intelligent individuals!
1st thing: HI
2nd thing: Pulsefire Ezreal I wants already
3rd thing: Urgot why so ugly? he got to be ugliest guy in LoL but could use less ugly skin he scares me so much i dont play him as much i should.
4thing: you dont have to reply just a few things i wanted you to know
2) So do I...
3) Well, I honestly think that was a mistake on our part. We should have made him much cooler...for example, I wish his base skin was his new mecha skin. That is an awesome version of Urgot!
When will you change your icon to Pulsefire Ezreal?
And, more importantly,
when are we getting pulsefire Ezreal?
edit:
P.s. I just got my first Pentakill on Ezreal in ranked today!
Grats to the penta.
Is there any news on Zelos? Is he actually in development or is it just a rumor?
What was Riot's decision to not allow interaction with the environment like trees? As a DoTA player, I remember it added a layer of strategy to the game, since you could eat trees to escape/wait for ganks and there were many skills centered around trees that made the game quite fun.
Just wondering, since I feel like it was a pretty major decision.

Any chance of that becoming a possibility?
Just wondering, as a game programmer/design student here in Australia, could you give a reason or two explaining what has stopped riot from implementing reverse DoTs in the game?
As for AoE healing zones, that is a much more contentious issue. That would dramatically boost the sustain meta, ultimately leading to more stale poke related gameplay.
Finally, skill shot heals are much less fun than you'd expect. In the case that the ability always heals, players simply would want to stand still next to you to ensure that the healing occurred. For dual use heals (see old Ezreal Essence Flux), it led to confusion over how to use the spell --> do I target my enemies or my allies. We still haven't found a good way to do skill shot heals.
Was Fizz's Playful/Trickster originally conceived for that "super high skill cap" Wukong kit by Coronach? It seems like the obvious gap in Wukong's kit. Urchin Strike (the static distance dash) also has parallels to Nimbus Strike. Just curious, not looking to revive any debates here.
Urchin Strike was actually taken from an old Jarvan ability (his Q used to dash through before he had his hook shot combo). It fits farrrrr better on Fizz.
A few questions I got after talking with some friends for a while
1) Sona was nerfed because she was so good with the innervating locket, but after it was removed from the game, she´s still keeping those nerfs.

Is it possible to give Warwick a small CC on his hunters call (slows units in same effective area as allies) or hungering strike? i feel that his ganking potential is severly limited due to his ultimate being his only gap gloser and effective cc.
Just a quick question: is there any sort of gameplay mechanic or champion design that you are against in new or remade champions?
Would you consider giving shaco's clone a "detonate" feature? i feel that shaco's clone is really a simple annoyance, and that you cannot use its massive burst damage if it is needed, rather then when he dies or runs out of time.
Why we need 1 and 2 tier runes if we cant use all of them until lvl 30?
2) I think a targeted short duration spell shield can work, but it requires the correct support kit. I have one in mind (a certain offensive support kit that has a spell shield which also reflects a set damage nuke...ie. reverse damage). Another good idea, great work!
1- who was your first starter pokemon
2-what do you think about an ability that would summon a beacon that would absorb an X amount of damage inflicted upon allied champs within a Y AoE?
EDIT: Also, whatever happened to Aeon?
2) You might see that ability some day, as we'll be testing it out soon.
3) He is on indefinite hold, we weren't able to solve core issues with him. We still might come back to him some day!
Hey Guys, time for another round of @Ezreal Updates. Here comes another 5 pages worth of responses. Keep asking questions and I'll be more than happy to answer as many as I can! The shorter the question the more likely I will be able to answer it.
Also, I always tweet whenever I finish a post in @Ezreal (Twitter: @RiotEzreal) (should be easier than sifting through this thread, oh, and does anyone know how I can look at the 'last' rioter post on a thread?). http://twitter.com/#!/RiotEzreal
let say that i want play support and buy strong support items (like aegis of legion but with 2-3 x better stats) the diffirence would be penalty which decrease dmg dealt by like 80% (so i sacrifice my power for being strong support) this way it wont make other classes OP (there was similar problem with locket back then)
Everyone would still be able to buy this item but penalty would make it balanced.
We have been nerfing / nerf remaking a number of supports because we believe it will make the game more fun to play and watch (check out some of my earlier posts if you want more in depth reasoning).
Do you have any suggestions of where to look to start modding? I've been checking some sites out, but most seem to put up a pretty high entry barrier, knowledge wise, in order to learn from them.
2) I always suggest StarEdit and WarEdit. I personally started off with Starcraft I's map editor, and moved on to Warcraft's editor. I've heard that Starcraft II's map editor is top notch, albeit more difficult to use due to it's impressive capabilities. I would suggest starting there. Maybe figure out which warcraft III custom game never made it over and port it into Starcraft II.
1) Was the character design of Ezreal based on Link? They looks like each other so much... What about a Link skin for Ez?
2) Did you guys in Riot thought in a game mode surely aimed to combat? We see a lot of people in Classic who tends to forget the true objective of the game and focus only in killing each other...
3) Shyvana is awesome.
Ezreal is my favorite character, however I do not approve of his dance, and from your previous post, you think it was Shurelia's doing. Do you feel any underlying animosity towards her for giving your amazing character design such a dance?!
Do you plan to work on any stealth champions before the rework?
GAH, this set of 5 pages had a ton of great questions!
Also, I always tweet whenever I finish a post in @Ezreal (Twitter: @RiotEzreal) (should be easier than sifting through this thread, oh, and does anyone know how I can look at the 'last' rioter post on a thread?). http://twitter.com/#!/RiotEzreal
I had an idea about Bot Games, bearing in mind who they are for:
Beginner Games - I think you should allow players to see the champions in champion select, and be able to click them and view their abilities. This would give a new player the option to see what kind of opponents he/she is going to be up against, and give them further ability to cope and prepare, before the game even begins.
2) Med Bots: Maybe, same arguments as above.
3) I'm actually the least in favor of this change. I would rather just add a new vs Bots queue, Draft Mode vs Bots.
Example: Sion's stun seems unfair for a champion that easy to use (specially if you go AD because of that much shield and lifesteal) while Brand has to chain 2 spells of more to get a stun on his skillshot. If Gangplank needs a slow to follow and kill someone hell he CAN, while Sejuani... literally falls behind.
Why did you make Teemo so cute?
Would you guys mind giving him 25 extra AA range so he can be kinda better as AD bot lane? I've played him a lot in that role and he is very strong thanks to his kit, but I cant help but feel that 500 is too short for a champion with no blink, no survivability (like Graves' passive) and such a global taunt.
Thank you very much for all your answers so far, you rock!
Honestly if his range is only 500, then we should probably increase it to 525. I'll look into that.
Just a qucik question if are u planning to make another sinister champ like nocturne or some dark champion
1. Who do you think are the most underpowered and overpowered champion right now, and if you can reveal who will be getting a nerf/buff?
2. Do you believe the meta will change soon (im tired of banning kassadin and shaco)
3. I know you have been asked a billion times about ezreal and his buffs, but any new info on slight buffs towards cait and ezreal? Too me there not underpowered but for sure 2 of the weaker ad carries (not including twitch)
4. What do you think of this new Urgot bot lane?
5. Why you so nice
6. Some top lane champions are slowly falling apart, Chogath and Singed, any news on them?
I wish i could ask 1000 questions but ill hold myself from doing that. Thanks for your time, ill be sure to comment again.
2) What part of the meta requires a Kassadin and Shaco in every game?
3) No updates for now.
4) Honestly, I really dislike Urgot, so I'm not a big fan of seeing him in tournament games. Though the recent tournament game where he 2v1'd the other team was pretty amazing to watch!
5) Common misconception =-P.
6) I haven't heard of this, though I have wanted heavy sustain champions like Cho'Gath to fall out of the meta. Why do you think this is occurring?
Long time Mundo player here. Classick said that some of my ideas for Mundo were well done. But, I think that a big part of playing Mundo, and a big part of playing against him, is ignite. It doesn't really feel fun to play against sometimes, especially when the enemy champion normally gets ignite anyways, such as LeBlanc or Annie. I'm fine with having counters (even if they are somewhat binary counters, like the old dodge/SotD counter mechanics), but giving them to a champion from the very beginning of the game seems unfair.
Is there any chance you will add more items that have healing debuffs while removing the healing reduction on ignite?
This wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that you were talking about Kassadin's daughter earlier as well, would it Ez?
Because let me be frank with you, releasing a void-corrupted lady is a fast track to getting RP from me. Bonus points if she's in a classy dress with a high collar not showing any skin. Because that's god**** sexy.
How do you feel about visual/audio representations of skill leveling? To clarify, notice how Irelia's hiten style (W) glows when it is leveled up and upon learning silver bolts for the first time as Vayne, she will either say 'Silver of the moon', 'Purify with silver' or 'The purifying element'.
They give the opposition an idea of your skill leveling and although it's not a big of a deal, it is still a slight advantage.
Personally I like the little added effects but I wanted to know your opinion as a designer.
For example, he has a hovering satellite(or any form of global weaponry) that can buff any ally, debuff any enemy, shoot down an aoe blast, shoot down a huge ray beam in a path, or things like that on any place on the map.
What's the main thing companies look for in a game designer?
did you do a carreer in 2D design, computer design, literature? ( taking a wild guess here)
did they pay more attention to where you attended college?, your portfolio?, an interview?
how do you communicate the looks and personality of your champs to the artists?
Im very interested in the matter, so Im sorry if it's a lengthy question and Im also sorry if some of them have already been answered, but as you might imagine, no sane person would read 480 pages.
Also, I always tweet whenever I finish a post in @Ezreal (Twitter: @RiotEzreal) (should be easier than sifting through this thread, oh, and does anyone know how I can look at the 'last' rioter post on a thread?). http://twitter.com/#!/RiotEzreal
Could we have a brief explanation as to why that's where the line is drawn?
P.S.: Thanks, as always. You should has a blog!or something
The only thing they do different than maybe damage is the fact Gragas' slows attack speed while Lux slows movement.
What do you think of an entirely Ammo based champ?
Working.
Have you been eating drugs?
We talked before about the possibility of an African mythology-themed champion, and you said you were open to the idea. I read another designer (Xypherous I think) say that the design team didn't really know much that they could use for inspiration for an African-style champion.
Link to the Wikipedia page for Black Panther:

P.S. An African inspired champion wouldn't have to be a shaman, although that would be cool. African mythology is very rich and there are a diversity of video game archetypes that actually have their roots in Africa.
Further information on these gods can be found from sources like Wikipedia, the Encyclopedia Britannica, image-searches, Google Scholar, etc.
Especially Nidalee for the part because she got 7 moves, (3 basic for human, 3 basic for cougar and 1 for swapping between them.)
I did a champion concept here (Stance/Swap champion like Nidalee, although he can switch stance by using basic abilities):
http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wik...isted_Wanderer
He got 7 moves, 3 for offense and 3 for defense and 1 ultimate that both can perform:
I (relatively) recently posted a champ suggestion that had a portal ult which could teleport multiple people, so I'm interested in what went wrong with your implementation of a similar spell (and hopefully think of solutions).
Has anyone in the design team considered a stealth pet based assassin, perhaps something from the void? The key abilities would be the pet which can drift in and out of stealth (the champ can't). The ability to trade places with the pet (maybe only once it becomes visible again?). And some bursty abilities + maybe minor pet damage. Perhaps the pet could latch onto enemy champions debuffing or damaging them and this would alter the way the trade places works dealing good damage to the enemy champ.
Have you thought about adding a champion that is all skill shots who's passive was that he gained mana/mana regen for successfully landing them?
I just have a quick and simple question. What is your thoughts on an expansion of the jungle. At the moment when I look at the jungle I see three options.
Im just curious now that im getting really into the game why it is that certain champs arent addressed in a more rapid manor.
Additonally, some of these champions are primarily banned because of the state of the meta. Take Kassadin for example. We don't believe that Kassadin is overpowered, we believe that he will be seen as balanced as the state of the meta evolves over time.
I feel as though Evelynn has become pretty much a joke of a champion, I think she is now a days picked even less than Karma. I really liked to play Eve when she had that stun, but when she got nurfed and her stun got taken away, I found myself getting stomped pretty hard when ever I would play her. So will she be getting some much needed buff anytime soon? I feel like Riot is treating her rather poorly when she is one of the older champions in the game.
1) Eve buff will it happen?
2) Can we see a new skin for champs that only have 2 skins, (i.e. Swain, Cass, Karma)
3) Excited about the Karma remake, give it to me now!
2) We want to give all champions new skins over time. Just give it a bit more time, even Urgot got a skin recently!
3) Soooooon.
You stated in a previous post that a secret shot is a outdated concept, but what about a stash or vault. I generally main AP carries and Supports an have always found myself torn between going back to buy wards, potions or items, or going in for a fight or helping my teammates. Being able to buy these items before a fight then bing when I can to get them would be a big help. What are your thoughts?
1. I would like to see more a Disruptor kind of Support, not just an average Healer/Babysitter anymore.
Finally keeping up. And just in time for page 500. Just throwing this out there, I'm pretty excited for it!!!
Also, I always tweet whenever I finish a post in @Ezreal (Twitter: @RiotEzreal) (should be easier than sifting through this thread, oh, and does anyone know how I can look at the 'last' rioter post on a thread?). http://twitter.com/#!/RiotEzreal
@Ezreal (you are awesome),
A South American Indian-themed champion would not just be cool for diversity's sake, it would also be a chance to try out a new weapon. Do you think it could work well in a fighter's kit?
edit: also thanks :P
As for the dog champion, can you refresh my memory on who that is?
I feel like this page is out dated, but the careers page (http://www.riotgames.com/careers) says to look in the job listings page for internships but it doesn't specifically say which jobs are able to get an internship as. I emailed Riot Games under the "Contact" link, but they haven't replied in weeks so I was wondering if you guys still have internship positions available.
Thanks!
You're my personal favorite designer I love all of your champs! =D
Can we get an idea (by that I mean, no "soon") of when exactly we will be getting our hands on Pulsefire Ezreal?
It's hard not to wonder because he's been my main for a while and a new skin would give me something new to play with other than the usual Ezreal and summoner's rift. In addition, for players who can only purchase RP once in a while, it helps a lot in managing RP consumption (like say if I wanted to use all my rp right now to buy some current skins).
Characters with pets/minions are my favorite classes in all MMOs and I'm really quite fond of Yorick (even though his pets aren't very cool (they don't feel like part of his kit, just kind of an added bonus to his abilities)) and have even gone so far as to start using Malzahar as my AD carry.
Also, if you are reading this I have to ask...did you create Ezreal? I know its a stupid question but I couldn't find the answer and he is one of my favorite characters. If so, what other characters have you worked on?
One question: Why do you dislike Urgot? I'm not a fan of his character design or art style, but I think he has an interesting kit. He is the only ranged AD champion that is more of an offtank than a carry. It's unique, like how Fiddlesticks is a jungling mage. Do you ever want to make a champion like that, one that doesn't fit into a traditional role?
Thanks!
It'd be rather ineffective against some(Jax, Heimerdinger, Garen) and ruin others completely(Kennen, Galio, many more) - so that likely falls within Anti-fun territory.
What do you think?
Whats the reason for Ezreal having the lowest base Hp out of all of ranged AD's (champions who can work as ranged carries)?
Even Twitch who has the huge advantage of stealth has higher hp :<
