please give reasons for why its not really that good.
my reasons are:
- waste of gold early (he built it second item), money better spent late game, with a ga or qss.
- sacrifices damage for utility, which isnt entirely needed for adcs with their pds

I have one --
Trinity force gives you more consistent mobility (slow + movement), and running away from a team is more important than snaring one person. It also gives a snare. And it gives more DPS. Trinity Force and Frozen Mallet consume about the same amount of gold and one item slot.
Here's another--
ADCs scale at N^4 rate in damage (Armor pen * damage * attack speed * crit damage * crit damage done). Giving them a heavy survival item prevents them from leveraging this extremely sharp curve.
my friend thinks frozen mallet is good on all adcs asides from ashe

Might be viable on TT, or on certain types of unusual ADs like Urgot. But it's not a core goal to keep it ideal for AD carries.
