Pet Champion?

  • Are we ever going to get a dedicated pet champion? I mean one that his abilities revolve around his summons...Yorick comes close but his minions die too quickly and other than the summon are pretty useless.

I'm talking something similar to lychanthope. where he gets summoned allies that follow him around and his other spells buff his summons.
  • Orianna?

I'm sorry, but the OP said "all his abilities revolves around his summons". Every one of Orianna's abilities revolves around that ball. If this is not what you're talking about with a "pet champion" you need to be more specific and descriptive.

Orianna fits in the sense all her attacks are commanding a ball, but the way it plays it makes Orianna and the Ball the same concept, as in there's no dividing factor to differentiate the two.
What if there was something like Orianna's ball, but it also attacked the nearest champion/minion after you moved it (and it still had abilities that you could trigger it to do)? Is that what you're talking about?

I promise you this is not the first time a Rioter has read a post like this. We read lots of threads we don't comment on for various reasons. I'm really here to make sure I understand the thoughts of the thread better (which is why I'm asking so many clarification questions). You can see by the variety of responses why it's important to be very clear on what someone is looking for with a "pet" champion, as the term is very broad, and the details vary.

The pet has a short list of control options:
    1) Attack a specific target until told to retreat
    2) be set in a mode to attack anything that attacks you
    3) be set in a mode to attack anything near it
    4) can be taken over completely by the player, leaving the player character basically stunned for the duration

beyond that, they have some abilities that can be auto cast or activated.

Which of these control options are most important to you? Also, if I've missed something about pet control (haven't played in a LONG time) just chime in with that if it's important.

I think what the OP is asking about is a pet that is permanent, durable enough that it won't just die to AOE and that supplies a significant portion of the champion's damage, but also has its own subset of abilities that really affect what it is doing other than simply "deals more damage".
But I thought the main issue was pet control, which is what I was asking about. I've heard people don't like the control of Orianna (some do) and others don't like the mindlessness of Yorick pets. Orianna's ball has VERY cool special abilities, but some people got mad when I mentioned that, so I want to know what CONTROL options are important.

To be fair... Orianna feels like a lifeless extension of power (she's a clockwork).

  • I think the ideas in this thread have gotten MUCH more clear. Thanks for spelling things out more explicitly, I think it is really helping the discussion.
