So, all my teachers keep talking about twitter, a lot of people that I want to follow are using it as well (including Rioters),
but I do have a couple of questions:
what should I do after creating a twitter account? Just start follow who I want to? Isn't a little weird?
How do you interact with someone on twitter (in an elegant and sophisticated way...)?
I am very reluctant about using social medias, because people keep talking about privacy issues, but since I started using this forum, I am having so much fun that I kinda want to take the next step in online interactions.
Not that I am a complete newbie in the matter - I had orkut and facebook in the past (but I never really used it, so I deleted both), but I am thinking about creating a twitter and google + account, what do you guys think?
Twitter has a bit of a learning curve. I've been using it since 2007 and I love it. I initially just used it to toss thoughts out into the universe. I did not expect people to respond to those thoughts but they did. You will begin to gain followers for whatever you are passionate about especially if you focus on one thing. Nobody really expects your interactions to be elegant or sophisticated because you are limited to 140 characters.
My Twitter mainly talks about data mining, computer science etc. I actually got my first two full time positions from my Twitter. In both cases, my soon-to-be-boss saw my tweets and thought I would be a good addition to their team. That is pretty rare though I'd imagine.
