My name is Riot Uracan, am the Player Support Manager for Latin America. We are looking for some passionate folks with a dedication to League of Legends, the Spanish speaking communities, and of course a passion for helping your fellow players to join us in our Los Angeles offices.
We have a number of positions available in player support listed below as well as a quick FAQ that talks about these positions. Ill be sticking around answering any questions if any crop up.
FAQs
1. I live pretty far away. Can I work from home?
All roles in Riot Games at this time require relocation to one of our office locations. For these positions, theyll be located in our Los Angeles offices. We do provide a relocation package though, which is tailored to your needs, and we go into much more detail about your specific relocation package if you are successful during the interview stages.
2. What kinds of qualifications/experience are required?
This changes based on the position youre looking at. Some will require more of a tech background while others seek a heavier background in localization or billing. Specially the main qualification that cant be bypassed is you must speak and write Spanish fluently. These positions will be interacting directly with those communities so fluency is key! Keep in mind that any volunteer experience can also go a long way!
3. How come I havent heard from you? I applied some time ago.
Unfortunately, as we receive such a high volume of emails every day, we arent able to reply to every single one, even though wed love to. Our response time has improved significantly, however as we still receive a huge number of applications its very difficult for us to reply to everyone. If we want to progress to an interview with you, you should hear back from us within a week. If you applied more than a few months ago, by all means feel free to submit your application again! If we contact you once, we will continue contacting you to keep you up to date on your application.
If only I knew spanish. I understand but can't speak for my life if I had to. And we can't work from home.
edit: Loved this line:At Riot Games were about great people and solutions, not red tape and bureaucratic barriers. For the right candidate, well sponsor and pay for your H1Bs, 01s and other US work visas. Thats just paperwork, and weve got lawyers for that
All my support to you my good sir. If you understand then you are half way there. Knowing any other language is a great skill to have even if it's simply for being able to immerse in a new culture.
To add on, as you noticed for the right folks location is not a boundary if you're passionate enough to join us in Los Angeles.
Indeed, I also enjoy spacing it out as Ur a can in english phonetics. Combine that with Nautilus in a heavy metal suit and I giggle to myself relentlessly.
Yay love for us Latin American (I assume you are!)
I expect great things Uracan, perhaps more official support from Riot since we are kinda stuck, and NA players pretty much hate spanish speakers that play on "their" server.
And we hope to meet those great expectations! Things are still cooking at the moment and aren't ready but as you can tell by this and the other listings things are moving along.
Queremos que todos disfruten su tiempo con nosotros!
False! It's 'Huracán'
Unless you REALLY wanted to make that pun
Now, here's the deal. I'm a peruvian League player that graduated high school last year. Currently I'm about to start studying Digital Animation. I really like the position for Player Support Generalist, as I am able to work with a team and like solving problems in order to help others. I've gone on an exchange program to Kansas so I have a certain understanding of how the gaming community is in the US, and that's also helped me improve my English. Is it possible for me, an 18 year old player with a small working experience to work at Riot?
Really for those who are fresh, I definitely recommend getting involved in other communities. If there's little experience, you can substitute alot of that with volunteer work particularly in CS roles. Being involved in moderating fan communities, or other such support roles can lend well to this.
I can't really say without seeing your history to be honest, but we definitely will look at every applicant, and if you're the candidate for us and impress us then for sure we can make things work.
Uracan, I just turned 17 about a week ago. I'm from Argentina, so I'm obviously a native spanish speaker :P
I have already taken several international tests that show I'm more than capable of communicating in English (the most recent one being the Cambridge Ceritificate in Advanced English, and I'll probably take the CPE this year).
Is there any chance you'll still be looking for people passionate about the game to help with Latin American servers next year?
Not sure! We need to finish cooking this thing to see the results. We'll always have our career page updated so it's always worth to check it, even if it's for other positions.
