I know this is PBE and all subject to change, that said, I got beef with it:
*Is he not called "Lu Bu J4" because of some sort of legal ramification or because your internal tests showed that gamers didn't recognize the name "Lu Bu" which I would find to be ridiculous, as I can't go a single game without being asked about my name by multiple players.
*Are he and Xin Zhao not receiving new V.O.'s or at least a couple special lines? I don't want to hear about Demacia when I'm playing one of the most murderous and deceitful villains of China. Lu Bu's irl nickname was "The Flying General". I find that "Flying General Lu Bu" or even "Flying General Jarvan" with some art of him on Red Hare murking fools would be fantastic and better than "Warring Boredom Jarvan"'. He should DEFINITELY have a hidden passive with Zhao Yun Xin Zhao.
Lu Bu was also renowned for his archery, which means you guys could throw in some special passive lines at Ashe/Varus. Awesome? I know. ANOTHER THING:
Lu Bu's name in Chinese is used to refer to an incoming thunder storm.
Lu Bu's name in Chinese is used to refer to an incoming thunder storm. His style name, Fengxian, when broken into separate characters means "Immortal Phoenix".
Here are some better lines for his V.O. as well:
"What is magic? There is no magic before the might of my blade? Onward!"
"I have no time for the likes of you!"
"I am Lu Bu! Bow down before me!"
"Die, you scum!"
"You dare stand in my way?! You pitiful worm!"
"An even match with Lu Bu? How interesting!"
"I'll wipe out these insects in one blow!"
"If two forces are equal in strength, the side with me shall be victorious!"
"We're at a disadvantage? As long as I'm here, we can't lose!"
* The Kata for Lu Bu's spear techniques would probably look absolutely nothing like J4's current moves. Something more accurate would be like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byZFpl1wKUs
You guys altered Lee Sin's attacks for his Muy Thai Skin, at the very least I don't see why it'd be AS difficult(since this skin has been in works for a YEAR now) to modify J4's to look a little more...Ji-styled.
No special death or recall animations(at least not yet on PBE)? Really? Could you come up with NOTHING for this? I can make something up. Here, 5 seconds of thought, when recalling Lu Bu gives a thumbs down towards his opponents nexus, and Zhao Yun does a pose and points his spear at his enemies. Boom. Done. Easy. You guys are talented and this seems, underwhelming.
LONG TO THE SHORT:
It's a cool SKIN but the rest of it falls flat. I can't believe this was a year in the making with no updates or even acknowledgement that it was coming, and this is what we get. Muy Thai Lee Sin(my example) has way more going on imo, and, I don't think anyone really cared about it prior to its release, so that's my beef. I'm one of your biggest fans and I know I can be a bit biased around this but it just feels lacking. Real talk.

Now, I'll give you that Mythic Cassiopeia is their take on a gorgon and they still made it their own.
There's just a focused, deep level of specificity in the Dynasty skins; they are, down to their bones, the two characters they look like and skins have just gotten progressively better [EDIT - So what I'm getting at here is that these skins essentially serve as "alternate champions" in that they're not J4 and XZ in armor, they're Lu Bu and Zhao Yun guest starring in LoL with J4 and XZ as their bases] - so you're kind of looking at this the wrong way; no one here is saying "OMG ROIT YOU SUCK; TEH SKINZ IS BAD" so much as the evidence shows that a greater product could've been made:
Jarvan's general fighting style doesn't really look right, even for his default weapon; I've never cared for the way he walks and holds his lance and I mentioned above that I dislike how Martial Cadence's animation is more appropriate for a blunt or bludgeoning weapon than an edged polearm.
Jameison Price, the voice of Lu Bu, has a relationship with Riot as he is the voice of Garen and thus it would not have been quite as complicated as getting a brand new VO for them to do a new line or two just for this skin.
An animation change in place of VO for Zhao Yun XZ would've gone a long way; however, I feel like this skin stands on its own a lot easier than J4's does.
Lastly, the argument that they're "creating" instead of "replicating" is weak; no one in this thread is saying Riot did "A" instead of the expected "B" so much as we're saying they completely neglected doing C while doing the standard A and B when these two skins are, in our opinion, a special case (I would've, for example, paid the new 1350 price point for both of them if they had some additional features - it's not unprecedented, given that Zombie Brand was a holiday/event skin and he was legendary)
I think they're "ok" as they are, in that I'd still buy them both with only the model and particle changes (I don't think there are new animations for either of them) but that's more than anything probably just my undying love for all things related to DW and RTK.
In closing, I'd also like to apologize for my initially hostile tone and say that I don't think the Deep Terror Thresh example holds up because even though you can find a suitable comparison (Davy Jones, perhaps) it's not the same level of iconic, instant recognition that we see with J4 and XZ here. I also said this before, but I'll say it again; I concede that almost ALL of the "hype" and expectation here was set by we the players and Riot is more or less innocent of that, so we can only say what we wish for but can't expect much else.
