@Riot, What's up with Kog'maw's laugh animation?

  • The animation is like 5-6 seconds long, but his laugh is maybe 1-2 seconds. You get a little "murhurha" and then 3-4 seconds of him shaking mirthfully and stomping in total silence.

    Was this intentional or were you guys planning on giving him a long, annoying laugh? If the latter was the original plan why didn't you go through with it? I must know.
  • It's been a long time ago that I worked on Kogmaw... though I didn't create the animation myself (we used a lot of outsourcing back in the day - that's not the case anymore). I think this is rather a sound problem since usually the sound is being created after the animation. I'll pass it on to our amazing sound team. Thanks for the suggestion...

    The team here is amazing, I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite animator. Of all the characters I animated recently Draven is my favorite (others would be Diana, Kha'zix, and Zed). But I still like Garen's spin =)

    All anims are hand animated. We don't use any mocap. Hope that answers your questions.

    Actually, according to our sound department I didn't turn in the laugh animation in time for the recording... that might have been the case. Should we ever rerecord lines for a reason we can fix it =) or we can shorten the laugh animation to match a 2 sec laugh... and I don't know if we should do that =)

    While that's certainly an option, it bears the risk to sound off... plus we'd have to do it for all the languages he's laughing in... =)
