So my understanding is that we still have a hidden elo value that is used for ranked matchmaking, but you cannot drop to a lower league once you have attained it.
Doesn't this mean that you could throw games to tank your elo without dropping below division 5 of your league, and then have a bunch of really easy games that you can win to get to the next league?
Your earned LP is also effected by your hidden Elo. Meaning that if you tank a bunch of games and your Elo goes way down you won't earn enough LP for a promotion in a long while.
There is some flexibility in this, but it is tuned specifically to prevent the type of exploitation you're describing.
It will always be wiser and more efficient to earn LP legitimately.
