Well, the story is unlikely to be interesting to anyone, but since you asked...
I used to have a habit of making up words when I couldn't quickly think of the right one. One time, when asking my college roommate to hand me something, I couldn't think of what it was called, so I called it a schmickie. She thought the word was really funny, so it become my go-to placeholder word, along with the shorter form schmick. After that, I started using it as my internet handle for various things and the rest is history?

I don't really understand how that would happen to be honest. I have never had difficulty with naming something. When I can't think of the word I want to use it tends to be a larger one that isn't in my immediate vocabulary. So I use the simpler synonym. I am going to try using funny words instead of the simpler version of complex words now. You made a game for me!
It was this exactly. I wanted the larger word, and the simpler one was lame, so I'd just make up one. I enjoy word games. : )
