So I've been doing what research I can into the honor system to try to figure out as much as I can about it, and I wanted to share these so people can understand the way it all works to help limit misunderstandings and the like. It would be fantastic if Lyte would take a moment to confirm any of this that hasn't been definitively confirmed previously.
1) Honor is Weighted
This we know for sure, because they told us. From what I've been able to judge and gather, any honor given by someone on your friends list, or by someone you manually queued with, is worth less than honor given by someone not meeting this criteria. My suspicion is that this also has a 'diminishing return' aspect if you happen to end up playing with the same person multiple times who isn't on your friends list, but it's impossible to confirm this without knowing the numbers.
2) The game will always display the least common ribbon that you have earned.
3) The only 'single honor' ribbon is Honorable Opponent(Red).
There was a red post a while back that confirmed this, so I know this to be true. The Honorable Opponent ribbon directly correlates to the Honorable Opponent 'Honor'. I believe this is also the only unweighted ribbon, since your opponents are unlikely to be people you know.
4) The Other Ribbons are as follows:
Great Teammate(Green)
Great Mentor(Blue)
Great Leader(Yellow)
Edited this post because Lyte confirmed this one part of my post was inaccurate - the above 3 ribbons ARE from combinations of different types of honor, but the specific combinations remain a secret(read the post below for Lyte's info). I am fairly confident that leader is the rarest one since I got leader and mentor at the same time when I already had teammate and honorable opponent at the time and Leader overwrote all of the others... but aside from that I don't know for sure.
5) Getting Ribbons is not based off of the 'number' of honors you have received. This has, again, been confirmed. There is no static value that you need to reach to get a ribbon.
6) A ribbon, once awarded, can be lost either over time if you do not get honored or if you are ever 'punished' by the tribunal, even if that punishment only results in a warning.
7) Given what we know from above, there must be some 'value' that is kept hidden from us that determines getting a ribbon. This value must take into account the weighting of the honor based off who has given them to you. Edit: Lyte confirmed that this value is set at the time the honor is given.

9) There is some measure of forgiveness between gaining and losing a ribbon. The thresholds for the two must be in some way different - most likely the threshhold for losing a ribbon is much lower than gaining it, since it isn't terribly easy to lose one.
10) There is(or was) a bug that can cause a ribbon to be 'lost' without actually losing it. Sometimes you may notice yourself getting the same ribbon every time you log in.

Great Teammate(Green) comes from Friendly/Teamwork - thus making it the most common, by far, of the non-red ribbons.
Great Mentor(Blue) comes from Friendly/Helpful - I believe this to be the next most common after Teammate, for all that you almost never see it.
Great Leader(Yellow) comes from Helpful/Teamwork - This is the most 'valuable' ribbon from a rarity perspective.
False, but we aren't revealing the combinations for now because these can change.

This was just a display bug. The system periodically checks your account to determine your Honor status, and if you still deserved a badge, it would show you the ceremony again.
After we receive Honor Point from someone, the "hidden value" of this Honor can change? For example, a guy honored me and I received the "full value" of Honor, let's say 1. After a few weeks the guy starts spamming Honor for whatever reason and his Honor Value drops to 0.5. Does this affect the Honor I already received?
