You are matched together with the intend that you play together.
Dodging itself impacts 9 players that now have been thrown out and have to wait for the next match. Thats likely one of the reasons why there is punishment to discourage this. Yes you might have valid reasons to dodge, then you will have to accept the punishment and weigh it up.
If not then you might just dodge every game just because not all four in your team won all of their last 10 games and clearly you can not be expected to carry them.
When it comes to trolling as soon as a player dodges you could interpret it as the troll being successful.
In regards of vote kick systems there are some interesting an more in depth discussions on this board than this thread.
Really? What if i get 2 trolls in a row? You gonna punish the honest player?

Here's the thing about trolls in champion select.
They don't want to play with Clairvoyance Revive Karma either.
When we removed the rating penalty from dodges, the amount of Champion Select trolls skyrocketed, because they knew that with such a mild penalty, they could easily make people dodge for them.
By re-introducing a meaninful penalty, players are less likely to put up with their **** because "No, I don't want to lose my LP because of you" and trolls quickly realize their efforts are only hurting themselves.
YEA! Don't dodge and let the troll have another chance at getting mid, lets instead have him make 9 people have a miserable experience for the next 20 minutes! I mean clearly he's not winning in that scenario or anything.

The thing is, that's actually true.
That guy is out for himself. And only himself. Right now, he's getting pretty good feedback that he can yell, "MID OR FEED!!!!!!!111" and instalock AP Teemo and make people dodge until he gets it.
See how fast he changes his ways when people don't put up with his **** and he has a few miserable games in a row.
Now, he's definitely hurting the other players in the game. I can't deny that. But he's going to get his account removed really, really quickly when he gets reported by everyone for being a jerk.
It's just a culture thing. If we all, as responsible LoL players, say, "No, we're going to call your bluff, BRB getting you Tribunaled" the trolls all go away. These trolls exist because they're able to get you to dodge for them instead of standing up to them.
Of course not, WHICH IS WHY THEY AFK FOR THE REST OF THE GAME ONCE IT STARTS.
The people who do this are people who are doing something else that matters more to them. When they see that the game ended, "Ok time to requeue and pick clarity barrier Riven again!"
Those guys get dunked by the Tribunal really fast.
Yeah, how dare you make 9 people wait 8 seconds. Lets destroy 20-40 minutes of your work for not wanting to destroy 20-40 minutes of your work with a troll.

It's not just 8 seconds. You break up 9 people that just discussed who take which role, they made a plan and started working together, setup their rune pages and prepared themselves for battle. Dodge , ok well no big one, found another match, lets do bans, agree on roles, oh you only want to play mid and if we dont let you you dodge, dodge, still only lost 16 seconds no big one, lets discuss roles ...

I did not ban you, I did not ask to have you banned. A forum mod independently made that decision based on the post(s) content.

They're playing Draft Mode Ranked because they actually want to gain rating and get that next badge. They're being a dick and saying "AP Teemo mid or feed" because they don't know how to play any other champions and lack basic social skills.
And even if the above paragraph weren't true, he still wouldn't want to share that middle lane with the legitimate Morgana you already grabbed. That guy isn't going to have fun.
Personally I never dodge. I also make it clear that I do not dodge if someone is trolling in lobby. At the very least I can turtle up and help them play Karma for 70 minutes.
I don't think you guys get it, trolls are not out to win, they are out to have fun in their own sick and twisted way. You know how they do it? By making people miserable, it makes them happy and they laugh when people get angry. Riot obviously does not understand the nature of the troll.
I rarely encounter that type of trolling in league recently.
