Only Jaximus' 3v3 Tier List (ranked) - Hecarim Patch

This is a Tier List going over all of the champions on the Twisted Treeline 3v3 map - Patch v1.0.0.138 (Hecarim Release).

Tier 1 contains incredibly strong champions that have the ability to carry games and excel at multiple things such as teamfighting, jungle control, mobility, and laning.  These are generally the most banned champions.

Tier 2 contains a strong group of champions which include those who may be picked to counter other Tier 1 champions and are strong against most picks in general.  These champions fullfil their roles well and excel at a certain job, typically laning or mobility.

Tier 3 is an array of above average champions who are generally stronger than the lower tier champions and can perform their jobs well. Each of these champions can still be a strong pick, but have more weaknesses than those in Tier 1 and 2.  Be aware of these champions as they are still generally solid picks depending on team composition and laning matchups.

Tier 4 is consists of average/sub-par champions who can still be a threat, but do not provide anything extraordinary to the table.  Each of these champions generally require help to perform their role successfully and are somewhat gimmicky.

Tier 5 is what it is, the lowest tier.  Each of the champions in this tier do not scale well in terms of 3v3 and are just completely outdone by another higher tier champion.  As a 3v3 enthusiast who tries new things, I think every champion is viable and works well with a strategy, but each of these champions can be and usually are outclassed by others.  Be aware that some of the champions in this tier can hard counter higher tier champions throughout the game.

(in alphabetical order)

* - Scroll down for explanation and analysis of these champions.

TIER 1 -  Gangplank, Jax, Lee SinLulu*, Singed, Tryndamere*Udyr, Yorick, and Evelynn oops.

TIER 2 - Akali, Cho'Gath, Jarvan IV, Kennen, Morgana, Nidalee (AD), NunuPantheon, Poppy, Rammus, Renekton, Riven, Rumble, Shaco, ShenShyvana, and Wukong.

TIER 3 – Ahri, Amumu, CaitlynCassiopeiaCorki, Dr. Mundo, Ezreal, Fizz, Garen, Galio, GravesHecarim*, Heimerdinger, Janna, LeBlanc, Malphite, Mordekaiser, Nautilus, Nocturne, Olaf, Orianna, Sion, Skarner, Soraka, Swain, TalonTeemoTristana (AP & AD), Twitch, Urgot, VayneVeigar, Vladimir, Warwick, and Xin Zhao.

TIER 4 - AlistarAnivia, AnnieAshe, Blitzcrank Brand, Fiddlesticks, Fiora, Gragas, Irelia, KarmaKarthus, Kayle, Kog'maw, Leona, Lux, Malzahar, Master Yi, Nasus, Nidalee (AP), Ryze, Sivir, Trundle, Volibear, Xerathand Zilean.

TIER 5 - (the rest) - Evelynn, Kassadin, Katarina, Maokai, Miss Fortune, Sejuani, Sona, Taric, Twisted Fate, Viktor, and Ziggs.

Note - Tier 3 & Tier 4 contain most of the champions because I feel all champions are viable.  It's hard to put champs in Tier 5 even though some of them are very strong in Summoner's Rift.  I'm not saying any of these champions are bad picks, they just require certain strategies and team compositions.

Explanations

Next In Line - Varus* - Varus will most likely be in Tier 3 because he is a ranged AD champion.

Lulu - She's an amazing harassing champion and is capable of extreme turtling/defending a well as outrageous long range poking damage.  She can keep anyone on her team alive through just about any teamfight, and provides massive CC + a movement speed steroid.  She has a great laning phase and is just in general, a strong champion.

Tryndamere - He is counter picked by Udyr/Lee Sin/Jax in lane, but amazing against just about any other matchup. He is one of the biggest pains to deal with in lane.  He has infinite sustain and can spin away to gank/take jungle on a regular basis.  Make sure to pick a mobile champion against him or have an attack speed/movement speed slow on your team (Nunu or Lee Sin).

Hecarim - He is the newest champion in the game and I haven't had a large amount of experience with him.  I feel he is suited for Tier 3 because he has some strong points, but other champions still out-do him in my opinion.  With the right team composition in the right lane I think this champion can carry very well.  His only downfall in my opinion is the AP scaling on his Ultimate/W, he lacks base damage on his abilities for the most part.

Note - There will be more explanations for other/newer champions in the future, this is just v1.0 for me.  As new champions are released and more changes arrive, this list will be regularly updated accordingly with reasoning.

I hope you all enjoyed the Tier List and please feel free to leave me any suggestions, ideas, or point out things I've missed.  I'm open to any of these, just as long as you don't flame me :)

Id like to see Taric up higher on that list because of his power when put in the top lane as an ad bruiser, i mean, he beats  a lot of other champs in lane and 1v1 all game and past lv lv 6 has too much burst and sustain damage to be beaten 1v1 or even 1v2 with a small lead (i can prove this if needed) and gimps all other ad based champs with his shatter passive. The amount of damage sustain and auras he brings is insane and since there is not as much burst in 3v3 he is a hell of a problem to deal with since he has an over 300 point heal on a 5 second cd and is tankey as hell all game (or lower with cdr and as).

I take full attack speed runes then run with a basic tankey ad build, or you can even go full damage and be tankeyish with just the hp from triforce and fm. Try this out it is actually scary as hell. Start dorans blade and shatter as he only needs damage and hp at lv 1 since his kit is so dam fabulous.

going by your criteria thing il list strengths and weaknesses
stregnths: can lane effectively against almost any ad champ solo and is excellent in a duo lane because of his buffs/heal can jungle well with armor shred aoe and sustain from heal and passive
high sustained and burst damage for a bruiser
    very tankey with few items
can carry very hard if fed
great in team fights with due to heal buffs/debuffs mixed damage and cc
hard to build against as he can build ap/hybrid if needed and still be effective
even if you happen to fall behind you still help your team with his support/tankey dps kit

    in between stuff
is weak ish to mages but early mr like witts end and mrecs stop this entirely in lane and fights and still are effective items on him regardless.
darius will kill you every time....but tis darius so i kinda expected that

    weaknesses
can be easily kited (although this is somewhat canceled with his stun in team-fights ect but your not getting near a consistent cc champ like kayle who is a hardcounter to him btw)
low early mobility (since you will be building triforce and have move quints if possible after this you will be fine)
is beaten with insane burst (if you can burst him down quickly enough so that his heal and possibly lifesteal wont sustain him thats a pretty effective counter) although this counters everyone that isn't a true tank.
has a bit of a mid game fallout when not overly fed or farmed in his overall power but its more or less just the gap between when shatter is maxed and your armor stops increasing so rapidly and your massive lategame damage kicks in from items and lv 3 ult.
Id recommend tier 3 or possibly bottom of tier 2 if hes a last pick against a ad heavy team.

When are you going to update this? What do you think of Darius so far?

  • #29 ihio

Nice tier my friend!Really good i agree with most of u choices but i think Mordekaiser and D.Mundo should be placed higher!Mordekaiser fills the AP role u want and he is really devastating in 3v3!His laning phase is good his late game is good i dont get why he is tier 3.Then about Dr.Mundo..he is godly! You can t actually kill him after lvl 6!Great damage output, great tankiness great sustain that is needed in TT!Anyway is a good tier list i just disagree with those 2!Keep it up man!

  • #28 Ceadeus1994

The list is for the most part good but fiora teir four? either i am just a god with fiora or thats wrong, i went on a 25 win streak with her in TT hell i've out laned jax's rivens and renes top, all three of which are known top gods. i dont know maybe its just me.

  • #24 _mober_

Fiora and olaf are rated where they are because you play jax.....

They may be heavily AA dependant, but vs people who cant dodge, they are monsters. with their innate AS crack, they can easily clear jungles, and imo varus should go to T4 since he feels inferior in damage output to the other AD carries, and lacks a escape.

Talon also should be ranked higher then a 3, and while i know for certain that he cannot compete with T1, and part of T2, I think he should be around the bottomish of T2, as the Bruta+Ghostblade+Ionians means that your ulti turns into a 33 second CD ability, and the burst with the ARP and damage amps and trinty can get to be amazing, ofc he suffers from a lack of sustainable jungle abilities, but the ability to snipe off one person is very useful. So long as he attacks first and pull of his initial burst in a second, you can kill off 75% to 100% of their HP in a round.

This also seems to focus on the mid-early game of the TT match, and many of the T4's turn out deadly at the 25 min mark, if they are played safely

Other then that, I agree with the most part with this outline, which does seem to place the majority of the champions in their proper places.

PS. dafaq is that eve doing there?

Also, if my team sees trynd, Imma just say that triple exaust ignite is op :D

  • #26 _mober_

Right, about the varus thing, he has range, thats about all, watch as EZ ults and beats his passive and deals damage, while farming the minion wave. Ez can q more, and deal more damage with excessive shots, and E range allows him to get outta more situations then varus can.

  • #27 _mober_

Oh and his ulti spreading is a joke, as ANYONE can leave it, any single one of the semidecent champs can jump from it

  • #23 lutzj

I think tier 4 doesn't do Fiora justice. Her dueling abilities and huge steroids allow her to carry a 3v3. She can solo dragon at level 6 and generally clear the top jungle very quickly with her E.

  • #22 PartyMagier

makes sense, and not that I would know since I play no ranked TT, but in soloQ Rumble is in my opinion godtier. Maybe he is easy to counterpick, but I generally dominate with him: he has strong laning, can win against most random enemies has nice slows and is a real earlygame bully which to my knowldge is important in TT. I feel like he is stronger than tryndamere for sure and also lulu.

    Just my 2 cents.

Jaximus do you still play Treeline? I haven't seen you since Prollyaracist.

  • #21 Only_Jaximus

Q'ing them as we speak :) .. Mainly for fun though.

  • #16 p3netru

Hi, Jaximus. Could you please tell us which would be a right build/team to use with Jax in Twisted Treeline? It would be great :D

  • #18 Only_Jaximus

I think I've answered this question on my Twisted Treeline guide on lolpro.com

  • #15 gregulizzle

Any reasoning behind the Tier 4 Gragas pick? amazing solo bot lane, natural defensive buff, natural heal/sustain.... 3 AOE skills that all scale great with AP... and a low cooldown dash that goes thru almost all walls on TT. i could keep going on about the benefits of having a gragas on the team. your thoughts?

  • #17 Only_Jaximus

I think he's weak in lane to a lot of champions, but I agree he's a good asset to a team if he lanes well.
