Played a couple games with him, liking the rework.

Its not too hard to setup 2 minions per Q and can get to a point where you stack it exponentially (can Q every minion on a wave past a certain point). Feels like it offsets the nerf to the Ult AP ratio and the CD changes are certainly a welcome feeling. The rest of your kit is also doing more damage by proxy due to the increased amount of AP at earlier points of the game. Q also enables farm and harass play which is very welcome.

The E, understandably hard to land but arguably the best stun in the game and it needed a nerf of some kind at some-point. Anyone saying otherwise is either lying to themselves or are oblivious to its strengths.

Don't personally agree with the armor nerf. I'd rather them add some scaling on the W at least in compensation and couple that with any of the below changes -

    - Revert the passive change

    - Make the E drop slower/More visible
    - Reduce the duration of E
    - Remove the vision on E
    - Reduce the amount of shred on Q
    - Reduce Base damages/scalings on Q/E/R, anyone of them
    - Make the E's buffs personal only or closest ally either to the E or at time ofE dropping (thresh lantern comes to mind)
    - Reduce range on Q/E/R, any one of them

Basicly what I am getting at is that there a whole of levers they could pull to sort him out in his main areas of strength (Tank, Squishy killer, Engage, Zone Denial, Buffer, Peeler, Mobility) and just hitting his early jungling isn't a good way to do it. I doubt its gonna end up as bad as Eve's clear but zero sustain and zero scaling W really does him no favours in a patch where he could be weak.

Well, Sony is a huge company and not only for games. It was a smart move.

Well considering the debacle that the Spider-man franchise has gone through in their hands I wouldn't trust them with another gaming/comic project. Granted they got some good but with the recent leaks on them and the aforementioned Spider-man (this guy used to the defacto superhero for most, now look at him) I don't want to hand them one the most recognized gaming characters of all times.

I'd rather see Pixar do something with him.

    Rip in peppers Dawngate.

Was a pretty decent game if not somewhat rough around the edges. Market is clearly too competitive to allow anyone looking for massive success. EA really should of dedicated to the game more if it wanted it to go somewhere, its worse aspect is that I never saw Dawngate advertised anywhere (I only got knowledge and access by browsing and finding their dev stream).

Though most Triple A devs and publishers are going down the shitter, was there really any true surprise that something that could of done well got scrapped?

  • posted a message on I am bored. Lets talk about Gamergate

I don't think journalism ever existed in gaming, I think GamersGate and all its involved discussions are a reaction to the change in how we process and gather information.

Compare to 20 years ago, all the current information you could get came from printed paper mediums and whatever you got fed to you on the TV. Now we got the freedom of information that all sorts of people can share and add views on instead of just corporate and established groups that have a stake in putting certain messages out. The problem with that freedom (and you see this everywhere, especially when it comes to global events) that setting a narrative and keep your audience intoxicated on your message and your views becomes so difficult.

At the end of the day when you use common sense who would you trust more -
    - A knowingly bought-out review that is going to be filled with bias and double standards.
    - A YT review with no real stake in delivering a good or bad review but instead an as honest as possible person-to-person review about the game.

I mean you hear it all the time when it comes to big sites if really look out for it. "Believe the hype" IGN on Titanfall. That MP only game didn't even launch with some of the basics like custom games. Even overhype let downs like Watch_Dogs and Destiny get by just fine thanks to the media hype machine. Apologists and Media have lead to things like GamersGate and I doubt it will be the last thing to happen in a long time.

BorK is such a bait item and not nearly worthwhile at all on him.

Don't try to win early, most match up even against weak laners can go really wrong if you over commit to an engagement. Targeted or double dashes early are your worst enemy as they can abuse your lack of tankiness and time it with a good wave and your passives down time. Fiora is likely your hardest match up early but there is nearly no matchup you can't lose midgame (6-14) if you outskill and get there without being miles behind.

You almost never want to go damage on Gnar apart from a few circumstances. A good early damage item IF winning is Brut, you use everything it gives pretty effectively. Sunfire is your best early "damage" and tank item, go with Cowl + GB in AP match ups. You go with this combo of items as depending on how fed you get and how long your laning phase is you can transition between a BV or SFC rush. This lets you either deal with your top better or their team better (assuming they are more or less all AD or utility only, like janna).

Brut I have found is additionally good in situations that you are either vs relatively low damage tank top (Mao), something that wants armor but takes time to really scale (Vlad, Ryze) or at any point that you are ahead of an opponent that you can super punish in the lane. Another point about Brut over going down other routes of is that GB and BC both have wide use with Gnar (GB for mini chase and BC for Mega Gnars all AoE AD damage) and you don't have to commit to the build path. If you do end up going damage as your first item I recommend either getting a GB or Cowl just to allow for transition in the case that things go bad. All builds run with 2xDB off the bat to make up for the fact that you will have no lane sustain through the not so good alternative BorK.

If you do end up behind just go straight tank. Damage only really works when you can snowball it out of control but tank is equally effective.

For the laning 1-3 is your weakest. The kit generally works all together to really function properly as anything like Fiora or Irelia is gonna kick your ass lv2 if you let them. You either need to push for the lv2 and abuse them with QW and force them to not be able to fight or you need to sit back and farm safely till an opportunity arises. You are gonna get your mega around lv3 just in time for a gank in most cases so do make sure that you have that in mind through out your early laning. You can win most 2v2s with a strong jungler thanks to the CC you bring in W and the overall burst of Mega Gnar.

You also run TP with him top, so many take Ignite thinking they need it. Gnar can be an great TP ganker, Mini is best in chases and Mega in teamfights and brawls. Abuses these strengths makes the champ.

He's extremally matchup dependant. Basically any champ that can outharass him or just outright all in him shuts him down, but all other have a bad time. Also as long as he's allowed to get to late he will be strong there, either as a good dps or a tank with good burst. I also find him better on Twisted Treeline than SR due to the meta and longer laning phase.

His weakest point is 1-4, either play for the level 2 advantage against one of the harder lanes (Riv, Irelia, Fiora) or you stay extremely passive take E 2nd and get your jungler to alleviate that pressure when its needed. A great back is GB + DB and you can just straight up win the lane at this point. Most of the problems become positives in them lanes as you win out over these kinds of match ups when you get your passive up, zone them in return and then shove out in a second when its near fading.

Well I hate FP when I the following -
    - Silent Team
    - "I don't want to swap"
    - "imma a smuff, no champs brah"
    - "noob, fgt im gonna troll"

Seriously though so much pain could be saved when the jungler or support wants to cooperate a bit. I don't want take mid fp and get rekt for it.

Gnar is fairly intensive. I could best sum it up if you haven't played him a lot as being Draven+Teemo and with a random non-random Cho'Gath moments.
There is a ton of subtle timing and mechanical nuances that you need to do in his passive and the Q to get solid results with him, but so worth getting it right.
