    ... what.

Just from personal experience. I know Diamonds who absolutely suck ass at this game, and have their rank solely because they have enough time to drop down 18 hours a day into the game. Rank is a grind-fest. Your luck and knowledge serve only to amplify how fast your free time can carry you up the ranks.

1000 wins at a 45% win rate will get you to Diamond a lot faster than 100 wins at a 55% win rate.

Dude... if they got Diamond rank legitimately they do not "suck ass at this game". There is a reason they got to Diamond, whether or not you can see it. I will use myself as an example.. I can play like 3 champions. If I go mid you will probably think I am a Silver player. I can play Evelynn, Sona and Nidalee, and most other things are quite subpar. I can't cs for shit. I don't win any solo lane unless I play Nidalee or my opponent screws up REALLY hard. But I still got Diamond. It certainly was NOT luck, and I have people in normal games tell me that I don't deserve Diamond, or think they are better than me because they won lane, whatever. My skills lie outside of mechanics and winning lane. I don't know if you meant it, but you are just coming across as one of those people, and it is also very demeaning for anyone who tried hard to get where they are, to say that its only 10% about their skill.

I've been Diamond for one day and I have already been told I don't deserve it. In fact I was told that I am "mid-Gold at best" ^_^

This is from someone's excellent assessment of my skill through an ARAM match.

  • posted a message on How do I beat Nidalee?

I haven't really seen any advice I agree with here, so I'm gonna have a shot.

Anyone who suggests an AP champ: generally doesn't work against good Nidalee players. Chalice + double Doran's Blade is far too strong on AD Nidalee, and she will outsustain any magic based champion she comes up against. Not recommended unless you are very skilled with said champion, but if Nidalee doesn't build Chalice you will have a good chance to beat her, by poking her down and making her run out of mana.

Good counterpicks (for lane) in order in my opinion:

    1. Pantheon

    2. Fiora / Yasuo / Irelia

I think these are the only champions with a really good chance to survive Nidalee's early game and also having kill potential on her. You will notice that they have strong all in potential and a gap closer. No gap closer = good luck. Yasuo and Fiora are risky, very skill based matchup. If you can block her Takedown with Fiora parry, you win. If you get ahead by dashing all over the place and all-in her as Yasuo (and get a kill), you will probably win. Pantheon is faceroll. Most difficult matchup for Nidalee in the game. Irelia is not as faceroll as Pantheon, but not as risky as Yasuo and Fiora. If you get ahead on Irelia, through outplay / jungle gank, you will stay ahead and Nidalee will not be able to do a whole lot to you.

As for Jax, he does outscale but since the nerfs (and even before that) Nidalee can shit on him so hard that its not even worth it. He can't even cheese Nidalee at level 3 with stun + jump anymore, because now she gets cougar from level 1. Not recommended.

In general, start Doran's Shield, pretty much no matter who you play. If you start anything else (unless you plan to all in really early on someone like Jayce) then you are just asking to be poked to death.

Yea but it's only cause of normals, I'm sick of wanting to (for example) try out Anivia and having to lane against a Diamond Katarina main playing Katarina, and a Platinum Lee Sin. I don't play ranked on it and I don't play anyone I am even remotely good at :^)

You know team builder adjusts matchmaking if you're playing a champion you rarely/never play right?

    1. I didn't know that.
    2. Team builder has been inactive on OCE until a few weeks ago
    3. I have been playing longer than teambuilder existed.

But thanks for the info ^_^

Can we all agree it's not a smurf unless its level 30?

Anyways, I have two NA accounts (Main + Smurf) and two EUW smurfs. At first I wanted an account to play on when I'm in a slump to try and get my confidence back. Then I was curious what it was like to play on EUW. The other EUW account was dumped on me by a friend who no longer plays this game.

Ah sorry, when I said low level, i meant low elo (relative to me). Will fix that.

So you play vs newbies instead. Sorry but this is the most retarded reason i' must have ever heard. Who doesn't want to practice vs equal/better people.

Put it this way... I will lose to a Silver mid main who knows their champion, on a mid I am comfortable with! I am solidly Platinum level at all roles except mid. My mid is literally Silver level, and when I want to play a first time mid champion (like Anivia), then it really isn't fun to play against Diamonds. I would have to learn general mid lane stuff on a champion I am already comfortable on, and THEN try out Anivia, if I were to gain anything at all from playing against a Diamond / Platinum mid. It's hard to concentrate on learning a role AND a champion when you are versing someone who statistically is better at it than 95+% of the players on the server.

And I don't get mad at all, but I play with my lower elo friends and we want to try something cheesy, then if I am in the game I immediately raise the MMR of the game to the point where all my friends are likely to lose lane, and if I am not on someone I know how to play, we will most likely (very likely) lose the game. Now you can say whatever you like about needing to harden up or whatever, but it is not fun for me and especially not fun for them (they have almost no chance to feel like they "won the game", because if we win, it is often because I stomp my lane harder than they get stomped), if we just lose every single game we play because of my normals MMR :)

TL;DR Sorry for not being able to play every single role at Platinum level.

I feel like his miniform is shit and his tank form is a bulldozer, like I don't ever actually want to be minignar, screw the %max health damage when you get twoshot with your weak ass form. Maybe if I was against somebody who can't retaliate, whatever the hell that would be.

He is made of glass and have the worse ranged attack in game... nice idea to give him 400 range while we have those ranged things on top lane...AD nidalees every time...or swain..

I imagine he was given such a shit range because he'd be a jerk to melee laners if he had good range, he'd just poke and jump away forever.

Of course this makes him the weakest laner vs. ranged because he can only CS on boomerang CD without losing a bunch of health, not having the natural survivability of typical melees nor their powerful all-ins.

Yea Riot pretty much gave that as their reasoning, they didnt want him to bully top lane, but they didnt want him to have awful range later in the game, so they made it scale with level.

My contribution: I feel as though Gnar JUST missed out on the meta he would have thrived in. He gets completely rolled by any of the current top laners. And the forced transformation is just a huge annoyance :( I find him really fun and unique, one of my favourite champions to play, but the forced transformation just hurts his viability way too much in my opinion. If he is buffed to be strong enough to be viable he would be so obnoxious... I really feel that the only way to properly balance him would have to start with making his ultimate non-forced. Even if it meant just removing the "auto transform after 4 seconds of max fury", so you could still auto, but when you cast a spell you transform. But you can save your transformation for whenever, as long as you had the fury.

  • posted a message on Silver 4 ADC Main looking for some tips

Don't take this the wrong way, or call me a meta sheep or whatever, but I must let you know that all the ADC's you main are considered quite weak in this meta (unless you really have the mechanics to pull off Vayne, but once you start playing against better ADC players you REALLY have to know what you are doing if you don't want to get completely stomped in lane). So I would recommend trying out Tristana, Kog'Maw and Lucian, just to get a feel of what ADC's are strong in this patch, and why.

Please always take Flash! Exhaust may help you win lane, but an ADC without Flash is just such an easy target. 1 escape is not enough when you are going to have the entire team diving on to you. I can't stress that enough, no one really thinks about it because Flash is such an integral part of the game that it may as well be Recall, but so many flashy plays / outplays / incredible teamfight turnarounds would simply not happen if the players didn't take Flash.

There are no tricks to win lane, eventually you are going to come up against someone better, and even against people you can beat, the jungler / mid is always there to ruin your day if they feel like it. I would suggest watching the first 2 UNSW Lol Society lectures, as they are extremely helpful and they are made from the perspective of an AD main. Taught me a lot, even after I was already in Platinum, it really helped me lane better as ADC (and other roles by extension). Give them a look.
