Since we have a lot of Pokemon fans and to provide you a platform for battles, trading and just talking about Pokemon in general, I'll provide you a pinned thread~
I'm asking you to wait with ORAS related stuff since the game hasn't been released in Europe yet and I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't want to read spoilers~ Just put it into a spoiler and everyone should be happy :3
I already preordered AS. HYPEHYPEHYPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
LF: Blazikenite
FT: not much, Eevee with wish and curse as eggmoves
I would have one with Wish (or should have, I traded a lot away in Wonder Trade x) ) Give me a bit to figure out the breeding chain I can use and I can trade with you. Any wishes for gender?

Wait, what? You want my Eevee or are you offering yours?
I'm always tempted to get back into playing this game competitively. I used to get home from school, do my HW, pop on some music, and hit Smogon's Pokemon Online back when we were still using the client during the 4th/5th gen era. I was damn good too.
Nowadays, I spend too much time on both LoL and Magic the Gathering to really have the time to care about Pokemon. Besides, MtG sorta infringes on it, given it's a turn-based strategy game. On top of all that, I try to play fighters. So yeah...
I also dislike the changes to competitive Pokemon that occurred over the course of the last generation. They benefit the lower levels of play, but the nerfs to weather took away a huge aspect of macro-management from the game. These days, switch advantage is much more important than before. Most games come down to which player manages this aspect better. Sure, this opened up the game to larger variety, but simplified gameplay.
I do have to admit, I miss using choice banded V-creates to break down the infinite amount of stall in UU. Feelsgood.jpg

I for one don't think that weather-centrism necessarily made the game more interesting. Being almost forced to run a weather starter (I'm aware that some teams did not run permanent weather, but those were the exception) hampered/simplified the team-building process, which I'd argue is just as skill-intensive as the actual battling. I agree that the loss of the weather meta removed a layer of macromanagement that didn't exist before, but I think weather was poorly executed and not worth the costs to the game in the end.
If by switch advantage you mean momentum, then I'd argue that has always been crucial. I'd say it's a bit less punishing this generation due to the ubiquity of Defog (if you get caught in a bad matchup, at least you don't have as many hazards crapping on you), but it's still what decides many battles. Also, the addition of things like Grass immunity to powders and Electric immunity to paralysis gave teams easily accessible status absorbers that maintain momentum.
Is this thread only for the new Pokemon game coming out, or any Pokemon topic?
If it's for the second one, I was thinking about replaying FireRed by solorunning. Any suggestions for Pokemon I should use? Has to be one that I can get early in the game and is preferably not my starter, that feels cheap, since I have no other way to get other Pokemon. :)

GoldWe might need some kind of bidding site to put Pokemon on, for clarity. I'll see if I can find something.
Edit: I can make a spreadsheet to do this, but I don't know a proper effective layout.
Perhaps a own subreddit similar to r/pokemontrades but then people who want to trade are forced to make a reddit account:/
I'm pretty sure i have one of these i can breed I may have more than one even.... I'll PM you.

I was thinking about him but I think you can only get him after beating the first gym (?).
Not so sure, but he is a good contestant.

ModeratorSadly yes... You used to get him at Route 2 in the original Blue and Red... Sadly your options are very very limited with only Route 2...
